The Official Overboosted Overlords Club

Part of my 2009 resolution...(not really but whatever).

I think we should start a thread for FI-ed folks to link to their build thread, discuss heating, fueling, tuning etc... in terms of FI solutions - not just specific products. Now that we have more Turbo choices; and will likely have at least one more SC choice here soon; not to mention Nitrous now that tuning is coming along... this seems smarter than product only threads - too much good info gets buried that way.

I'll keep a list of names and FI set-ups on the first thread - along with links to the build if applicable.
If you are not sure if you qualify - read this: FI For Dummies

Anyone remember where that IAT sensor re-wire is at? I really want to clean that up and get a good DIY for us - all FI-ers should be doing that. Jeff and Brettus were talking about it a few weeks ago.

If you don't mind. I am very bad at wiring and the more dumb dumb proof the better I think.

I would imagine more timing changes with it than fueling per se.... but either way - accuracy is accuracy right?

Guess I will re-ask this here; maybe I'll get an answer.

Anyone with an SC; done any research on the clutch driven SC pulley (HKS makes one - I think). I think the idea was to run a smaller pulley and have it "slip" on purpose at higher RPM to keep the blower from over-spinning. Seems like a good idea for a high RPM car.

The Blitz supercharger had a clutch - not sure if it was used the way you mentioned or if SC was disenguaged at low load levels .

sounds like a good idea but dam it would produce some heat! blitz is the only clutched SC that I know of.

another way of doing the same thing is a pop-off valve that opens at a maximum boost level. I use that set up: it's called a boost leak

Ahh. Now it all makes sense.
I had been wondering who you were! That explains a bunch of things.

Well, since they are out of business (and didn't actually build their own systems anyway), it doesn't matter anymore, does it?

My original build thread is here:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/building-custom-turbo-rx-8-a-46776/

Of course, very little of that system is still in place.
Along with my discoveries on the three engine management systems of the day (remember, I started doing this stuff for the RX- in 2004 - so it takes a bit of perspective to understand the path I've been on for longer than many have even owned RX-8's):

The pics he sent me of the system look absolutely off the wall and of amazing quality+fitment.

I know after I get mine done, many others will be jumpin onto the Hymee bandwagon.. I know of a couple others who were planning to get this kit very soon, but I jumped on it first :D

It's going to take Mark 4-6 weeks to get all of the parts together (he only had one blower in stock aswell ), then shipping from there.. He's a great guy and has been very helpful.

I'll be installing it probably around March? Late Feb?? Whenever it arrives, I'll do it pretty quickly

Very stoked

That isn't what he was talking about.
Definitely DO NOT do that. Read that whole thread.
Kane is talking about the remote IAT sensor post-boost that I did (as did Brett) using the IAT from a Mazda KL-03 VAF.
