    Hey Brettus. Just checking in. How do you like mazda edit? Would you recommend it over cobb and mazdamaniac? Since its open source does it mean that everyones' edits are uploaded online and able to be accessed by others or just a few starting templates to work with?

    Gm. I'm in the planning phase of a turbo kit install...likely Scott's RX8performance kit, and am investigating tuning options, i.e. tool & persons. I've read you've been doing Gregs' install tune, which seems to be going well & he's very happy w/ the performance. Curious what management tool are you using? Is it in person tuning or remote capable? Thx, Curtis

    Hi Brettus,

    I use mazda edit to tune my own 8, I have completed my first rebuild and porting (racing beat templates) on my motor. I am in the process of installing the motor back into the car for its first startup, would like to know if stock tune be able to start the motor? I also have my previously tuned maps where I changed Omp, fuel, ignition, throttle, dwell settings, and recalibrated maf. Could I use those adjusted maps to start the motor?

    G'day mate, just joined the Rx8 Club this week as a grabbed myself a good deal on the rx8.
    Iv never been so interested in engines as much as this 8 has gotten me over this past 3 days, so crazy that i chose to drive to wellington from Auckland in the middle of the night at 4a.m to get myself this car. Writing to you to clarify the appropriate tests i could conduct to ensure the condition on the car that iv just bought. Can you also clarify on the appropriate turning on and off with rotary engine procedure as for now im following leaving the car on for a few mins to prior to driving and prior to turning it off.

    Hey man I need some advice if you could help me I saw your post about the oil cooler, well I only one running right now and I bought a shitty universal oil cooler and it requires me to cut off my banjos my car is stock can I just drive with one oil cooler and clamp the other hoses until I get a better oil cooler?

    It's a 2007 rx8 manual... oil cooler just requires me to cut off banjos or use their shitty adapters that look getto... should I just roll with one nice oil cooler instead of 2

    Hey you...how are you I have this damn code p0410 coming up and replaced the air pump and other metal part lol... someone on the forum sent me his. I still have the damn code coming up. Any suggestions??

    Thank you so much for the answer -- This happenes every day, and as I tried to explain, it sounds just like a valve 'shutting', and that is why I don't really understand my Mazda Guru's answer. Did You have an answer for the removal, or 'gutting' of the Cat elements, if this is the real problem?
    I would really like to get more heat out of the engine if possible, and the RX8 Club advice says to perhaps remove this, if possible.
    My Home Town is Hamilton, But I would not recognise parts of it now, as I left there in about 1965.
    But, I sometimes visit, and, yes, I would like to catch up with you.
    If you could let me know your Email Address we could talk more.

    Thought that I would contact You as it appears that you are well known for giving the correct information!
    My question concerns the exhaust sound on my 8. As I leave my place of work, and drive away
    slowly to warm her up, the exhaust note seems to be a bit deeper and a little more louder than usual. Then, as I gradually start to pull away in about low gear, it sounds as though something 'shuts off', and the note gets a lot quieter. My Local RX Guru at Mazda tells me that this is normal, and is the result of the emission system and air pump coming on line.
    Does this sound correct to you, or would you say that something is blocking up the Cat?
    And, if I was to remove all the elements inside the Cat, what would I need to do about that rear Oxy Sensor?
    Thanks for any light that you can shine on this!
    My 8 is a 2004 auto, with new 'C' coils and has only done 75,000 Km.
