Sorry I wasn't able to make it out yesterday guys. Mom's in the hospital, plus I've had some kind of bad cold that I can't seem to shake. Just when I think I have it gone....it comes back on me.

Sorry I didn't show, I was a little lazy Sunday. At least I powerwashed my garage floor...Next I'm going to install a ceiling fan and some stereo speakers. If I don't have a hot car to work on, at least I can have a cool garage!

How was it? Anyone take any pictures? Any rollovers or wipe outs?
I'll keep my eyes on this for your next event, hopefully something close enough for my lazy butt will happen.

I was a great event... minus the downpour that canceled everyone's fun for the rest of the day. This rain thing is getting very old. I'm just hoping there's no sign of rain for the track day in August. Now THAT would suck.

There were no accidents at the autocross, but there were a few over at the time attack going on at the racetrack. I saw a photo of Terry Ackerman's 700+ horsepower Supra all banged up from a visit with one of the walls. Apparently a Scion bit it in the tire wall in turn 5 also.

.

It was a fun event for the entire 22 minutes I was there. I really would like to get with all of you soon so that I can pick your brains about my car.

Thus far I am pleased with my purchase. I have had her 1 week yesterday.

I will be out of town for a week starting tomorrow (road trip!!) but should be back by next weekend. If any of these other turkeys are up for it we could all do a Buffalo Wild Wings or the like.

My bad luck continues with my car. My clutch decided to go out on me at exactly 60,000 miles. This sucks. I was driving to work yesterday, all was fine with the car, I went to pass a car and instead of getting acceleration, the engine revved to about 8500 rpm's suddenly....then I heard a pop and all I had was neutral. Dealer doesn't know why this happened, just that the clutch overheated, causing also the flywheel to scar. I am now in for a shopping list of parts and about five hours of labor from the dealer. Now's a good time to have the MazdaSpeed flywheel put in I guess since it needs replaced. I'm so sad. Did I mention none of this is covered under my warranty, regular or extended, being that the clutch is a wearable item and was the cause of the whole problem. Gee....lucky me!

Well fisher, still waiting to see what the dealer wants to charge on the flywheel upgrade. The price difference will determine which way I go on this. There has to be a positive in all of this somewhere.

I would imagine you'd pay the difference in flywheel cost, but no more labor. At least I can't understand why there'd be more labor involved, he'll be right there...

Response on the flywheel from the dealership: "We can't do the MazdaSpeed flywheel due to the fact it takes a larger flywheel nut which won't fit your car. So we are going to have to go with the factory flywheel."

I wasn't going to argue with the guy, but I thought....WTF are you talking about? Why would mazdaspeed make a flywheel for the RX8 that doesn't fit the RX8? That's pretty much what the guy is saying. Big fat line of BS right there. However, I am already getting the parts at dealer cost through some connections I have at the dealership. So, I don't want to cross too many boundaries and screw that up. Less money I have to spend on the flywheel anyway I guess.

That doesn't make any sense. Mazda tries to say you have to have the flywheel installed by Mazda in order to keep warranty (if that applies). That is odd.

My guess....since I'm getting the parts at dealer cost, the guy would rather lose money on a stock flywheel than the more expensive mazdaspeed flywheel. So, he comes up with that line of bs. Oh well, I'll just be glad to have my car back running again.

the mazdaspeed is outrageously overpriced.. if you were really considering it id go with a used sr motorsports.

The MS isn't overpriced if you get it from a good vendor. In fact the MS flywheel is only $480 from onlinemazdaparts.com, and the SR is more than that. Plus, I trust a team of Mazda engineers much more than SR Motorsports.

Thanks for the offer perks. However, I was able to get this deal through one of my friends who works in Auffenberg Ford service department. I paid cost on the parts and then the normal labor fee. Saved around $300.

Anyone know where I can get a new CD changer? Mine bit it on the way back from the East coast the other day. I'm not looking forward to spending the $429 Rosenthal Mazda wants for it. Anyone know another place I can get it cheaper?

Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development wants $341 for the 6 disc changer, and $13 for the trim piece you need. I'm not sure if you a part of that program. I am, and you certainly can be.
www.mazdamotorsports.com

Online Mazda Parts wants $423 for the 6 disc and trim together.

Or if you want to rock your old Vanilla Ice tapes, they sell the tape deck for only $172!

A while ago there was a vendor on Ebay that was selling them for ~$100... I nabbed one of them and I'm very happy with it! I do not know he still has them; there is an old thread laying around here somewhere...
