So... whoever gets there first needs to a pitcher of Blue Moon and get a table big enough for:

STLRX8
BBG
FISHY
MYFUNCAR
TERETS
FERRET
H2OLGD

where's perks?

Anyone who gets lost or isn't sure where they're going just give me a call @ six three six, dash seven three four, dash two one one zero.

So I just drove around olive for over an hour looking for Corwins. The only problem is that I was at Olive and 270!!! Hi my name is Tim and I am stupid. So after a bit I called 411 and they contected me to a piano shop. The piano shop guy then told me how to get there and by then you all were already gone. This sucks. Sorry I missed.

Anybody driving in the autocross meet this sunday? I am going to go. Wont race, but my friend is running his evo.

Hey guys, enjoyed the visit even if it was quick. Pretty cool that we have three guitar players (If I can call myself that) so one day we could have an RX8 jam session. Hope to see all of you again in the future. David

Awe man, that sucks. I left my phone number on a post earlier but it probably was too late for you to notice. Also I left it semi-encrypted to prevent people from just browsing thru and seeing a number.

There's no autocross THIS weekend, but next weekend is both a track day AND autocross. I'll be doing both. I've been trying to get some of the other guys to do the track day but it IS kind-of expensive and so far nobody has wanted to join me. Fortunately I budgeted my fun money pretty well this year and was able to fit it in. Actually the cost to seat time ratio is MUCH greater than an autocross. We'll be doing five 20 minute sessions at speed. That's the equivalent of a full season's worth of autocross seat time. Plus it's at high speed where you can really let the handling of the 8 shine.

You'd think I worked for the SCCA or something.

Anyway, I'm sure several of us will make it to the autocross next Sunday and you should rethink about driving in it. It's really a blast and not too difficult once you work out the bugs (in you). It just takes a bit of practice and patience to get faster. As far as the track day goes, if you don't mind the drive over to Illinois on Saturday you should show up at least to check out the nice cars flying around the race track. You'll be allowed in the garage area since it's not a race or paid spectator event, just make sure you enter through the tunnel since the side entrance will be closed off while the cars are on track.

Here's the list of entrants and their cars: http://www.dlbracing.com/clubs/clubd...x?EventID=2452

Also since we had three wet races this year and I (like a fool) pulled a no-show to the last autocross I've got plenty of life left in my race tires, so I'll be throwing them on for the track day this time. FUN! If you show up early enough I'll even put you to work as pit crew!

Are you sure about the autocross. Its in Wentsville in the GM parking lot. Registration is 8:00 to 8:30. Supposedly lots of vettes will be there. My friend is looking forward to kicking vette ars in his evo.

I will find out for sure and repost.

AH yes. The corvette club. I forgot about theirs. Hmm... I might have to make a showing at that one. It's supposed to be cooler this weekend and it's close to my house.

Edit: It might be the Impala club, too.

It was mentioned about at last Sundays event at GIR; they were handing out flyers.
http://www.boonetrailcc.com/0819autox.htm

I think I am going to go; 3 heats @ 5 runs a heat for $60 total... not too shabby for getting to do more in one event. (and the perk they said is that guests - i.e. non-vette drivers - don't have to work!)

Where exactly is the GM parking lot in Wentzville? Can someone give me directions or an address?

Yowsers, $60? That lot isn't the greatest and the course is most likely many straights followed by painful hairpins (which vettes and other high horsepower cars like). At least the events out there usually are like that. I'm good for one heat, but no way am I spending $60. As far as directions, if you can remember how to get to my sister's I can meet you there and we can head over together. I'm probably going to change my tires there and just drive over on them so I don't have to deal with the jack sinking into the GM parking lot.

Yeah, wouldn't hurt to get a heat cycle in them before the track day the following Saturday.

Ordered my front air dam today. Can't wait to get it in and on the car. Only $204 where I got it compared to $460 from the dealer. Ebay is wonderful. If I can't figure out how to put it on myself....we may need to have a garage day soon. Change H2O's diff and tranny fluid while were at it.

Hey guys, Brent here from Sikeston, 'bout 2 hours south on I-55. You guys got any monthly meets or anything? There's only 2 other 8's that I know of around me, so it'd be nice to see some new faces and 8's. '04 GT MT Winning Blue

We don't have any formal meets, but we do relatively regularly meet up for meet n' greets, garage days, or whatever comes up. During the summer we usually just catch each other at the autocrosses since there's at least one per month. Keep an eye on this thread (subscribe) and you'll be pretty much caught up on all that's going on.

Also, welcome to the club!

Just reviewed some of the pics from today. It was my first autocross shoot and I honestly am not really that pleased. Here are a couple of the ones I liked. The next ones will be better. Except I cant get very close at gateway.

Today was great.

Looks good! Although I would've loved to seen some action shots of my Viper and Corvette beater. Your friend with the Evo was pretty cool, too. He's definitely a bit more grounded than the bulk of the Evo/Sti drivers out there.

It was a fun event, although punishing course designed for higher horsepower cars. I ended up with the FTD (fastest time of the day) but that run snagged one cone so I had to settle with SFTD (second...) by 0.2 seconds. It was a longer course (time wise) than SCCA events but had quite a bit less flow and overall speed. Therefore going slow to go fast actually meant something because the turns were all roughly 180 degrees. With our underpowered cars that meant we had to maintain as much momentum through those turns as possible without pushing through and missing the straight line acceleration. Overall I think the 8's that were there made a great showing while scrubbing off more of our tires than we're used to.

Thanks for reminding us of the event Ferret!

Just make sure you don't take pictures from the track. They frown upon that... but you can get some steller shots.

I hear dressing up in a cone costume works wonders if you're gonna try to pull that off.

A certain RX-8 owner (small hint... "What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?") and his girlfriend worked the autocross course taking photos and video. They came out pretty good at least!
