Mike, while you're changing your signature, you might want to spell axiAl flow correctly.

Other Mike, sweet rims! Now you just need to get rid of that fender gap!

Hey guys, I have a NASCAR question. A dumb one. I haven't been to a NASCAR race since about 1970. There's a Busch series race Sat. at Gateway. So we go online last night to see about tickets, and they're only $56 each. Choice: Do you go to Tony's for dinner, or NASCAR?
Anyone know of a cheaper way to get tickets?

Myfuncar - I say go to Tony's. Never was a fan of NASCAR, watching guys make left turns all day.

Fisher - Ferret could fix that fender gap by installing the stereo setup I had. That took care of my fender gap. (Total sarcasm, of course)

Myfuncar - I say go to the NASCAR race. I'm definitely NOT a fan of NASCAR, but I have been to several large auto races. I've seen GT cars, Indycars (okay, it was the CART-FedEx series), NASCAR, and SCCA club events. Each one of them had their strengths, but they all shared that feeling you get when you're in person smelling the race fuel, hearing those loud engines, and watching the competition before you. Nothing beats it.

You can always go to Tony's for dinner.

I would say you should go to the NASCAR race, but how are you gonna grow a mullet in time?

Haha, but seriously, I'd probably go to the race. I'm not a huge steak fan.

I'd go to Tony's.

Finally the signature actually saved. Fish, the axialflow thing was one thing I was trying to change along with the subs and the dancing caspers.

You guys are sooooo helpful. We decided to go to Bistro Oceano in Clayton.

But I still have one question. How can so many people, who don't seem to be in a high income bracket, afford $56 tickets AND $4 beers? I just don't get it.

I hate to say this and sound stereotypical or anything, but if you look at the lifestyle of the majority of those people.....the majority of that majority are most likely dealing pot or meth out their back door. Gotta make that money some how and Granite City Steel isn't going to give it to them.

Just my opinion.

I think I'm just not a fan of NASCAR because the drivers aren't near the athlete open-wheeled drivers are. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the NASCAR drivers have never worked out a day in their life. The only workout they get is 12 ounce curls with their right hand and their left hand down their pants. Now that I think about it that's the same motion of turning left. Cancel my previous statement. NASCAR drivers are well-trained athletes.

Hey all,

Excited to have picked up my new RX-8 yesterday. Saw it online, liked what I saw, went and drove it....fell in love.

04 Black with Black/Orange leather interior. 6spd. 28K miles. Bone stock(changing soon).

I was an active member in Gateway DSM back when I had my AWD TSI TALON.

Hope to chat with some of you soon to learn more about the beauty.

STLRX8 - Glad you took the plunge, you won't regret it. I am also an ex-DSM'er. I had a 96 Eclipse GST. Fun car. Welcome aboard. Make sure you come to the next get together we have, which might be the auto-x next sunday.

The first car is usually off at 10am. The B-stockers will be driving in the second and fourth heats this time around. Fisherdn will be in the first and third. So if you show up at 10am you're bound to see some 8's flying around the course.

Oh yeah... welcome to the RX-8!

Yeah, it's at Gateway. Here's a thread with the scoop: https://www.rx8club.com/mw-rx-8-forum-31/st-louis-scca-autocrossing-pdx-112704/

I might be bringing another visitor who'll observe this weekend's race. It usually takes one observation then people are dying to try it themselves once they realize it's not dangerous and they see the smiles on our faces from the quick adrenaline rushes.

I understand that they know these days that they'll drive better and be more alert if they're in shape, thus the drivers are encouraged to work out. But it appears that few of them do it seriously. Carl Edwards runs every day and works out like mad, he's been on the cover of Men's fitness or one of those mags. A few others talk about working out when they profile them on Speed TV. But they're mostly into waterskiing and 12 ounce curls. What they are doing with their hands in their pants, I couldn't tell you, but with all the gals who follow this sport these days, I doubt they need to do any self service.

I'm referring to the Al Bundy look, but I agree, the ladies of NASCAR are nice... minus their spokes-artist (?) Kelly Clarkson. She definitely opened up a few 12-ouncers.

Although I can't say I would kick any of the girls out that hang around Indycar or F1 drivers. Why don't these girls hang out at the autocross course?

Starsky, tomorrow at GIR is the next immediate get-together for the autocross event. There's guaranteed to be at least 3 of us there. If you're just wanting to watch, most of us will probably be taking off around 1030-1100am (fisherdn will be running closer to 10). I don't know when the next non-autocross get together might be, though.

WaterLogged, my brother finally got his CBR600F4I; I believe he's gonna show up with it to watch. I'm probably gonna let him ride passenger with me for a bit.

BaseballGenius, if you make it to Gateway tomorrow, it'd be cool to take pictures of your car side by side with my brother's bike; they'd be nicely color-coordinated!

STLRX8, welcome to the club! The more that show up tomorrow, the better; hope you can make it!

fisherdn, thanks for the compliments! How much do you think I'd be able to lower the car while safely running autocross without breaking anything?

BTW, carPC is finally fully installed... only bad thing right now is I think it is interfering with my TPMS system
