If it is sputtering at 11:1, you have some other mechanical issue. It will still fire all the way down to 9:1 or so.


That's why my ap is saying when I use the live data > equivenent ratio 11.2

mabey my o2 sensor is shot...

That makes my head hurt and almost caused an epileptic seizure. However I do think I see the face of Jesus if I unfocus my eyes.....

Ok, well, I went over everything today, and could not find any problems. I have stock coils and ngk plugs, I don't think anything is wrong with the car. I think mabey I need to upgrade my coils and plugs to run richer.

4.0.1 the first map I recived, mabey i'm just being a little paranoid there is sputter and is real jerky, it only happens when I reach boost, It runs absolution fine out of boost. I have a 2.5 inch intake going into a foot long 3.5 inch pipe where the maf sensor is. mabey a bit too small? I did a datalog and my afr's when in boost were 11.16.. That should be enough for stock coils/plugs to handle in boost right?



would this have anything to do about it?

Doesn't it say on the first page to avoid the boosted ranges until you get off the base calibration?

Do NOT attempt to paraphrase them.

The "base" calibration is only the v4.0.0

Marcux: Do you have any screens in the intake? Try extending your tube after you MAF. Mine oes right behind my intercooler. You only have the one map? Is the sputter you hear outside the car or with the rpms? Your stock plugs/coils will be fine until about 300hp. How many miles are on you coils/plugs? I dont know what MM knows about tune and issues but I trying to diagnose issues openly in case I know what is wrong or MM knows without him having to ask questions.

I know this has been asked dozens of times, but do BHR coils require a re-tune?

Update: In comparing my datalogs, it seems like my airflow is up an average of ~ 10% since my first tune. Just for curiosity's sake, I'm going to do a datalog of stock to see how much it's up overall. I wouldn't be surprised if my car is making 10% more hp since my first tune. It feels PHENOMINAL. Thank you MM!!

Only a change in dwell settings. I installed my BHR coils when I was on v4_0_5 (I think) and from that map to v4_0_7 (got it TODAY ) There is not much difference. Not sure when Jeff updated mine.

For any RX8 that's N/A, dwell changes are not required for the ignition upgrade to work. Dwell changes are only necessary with FI or nitrous powered RX8's.

We have had people report that dwell changes with N/A platforms have yielded some nice changes. It's not required but you may notice some nice improvements if you change your dwell.

Well, the 3.5 tube is about a foot long 6" in each direction from the maf, no screens, but I can try some in there. soon as I hit boost or neutral pressure, I feel sputter and power loss/choking. and the occational backfire when I let off the gas and back on it. I have the ability to order some ls2 Blaster coils, should I give it a shot. mabey my coils are shot? because, like i said.. it runs really well out of boost..

I would try a screen to see if that changes anything. Not sure if it will since I don't use screens. I use my AP for AFR logging and I was seeing 11.3-11.8 with no problem prior to my BHR coils(haven't gotten the chance properly to drive it yet with them on). Do you have a shaky idle? If your coils are bad you will have misfires and get a CEL. You're symptoms are that of a rich tune but not sure why you AP reads 11.2 in boost. Backfire is a rich symptom from I have experienced. When I had my catless midpipe I had that when I did not recirculate.
