Sorry for your frustrations! How long did they estimate it would take to complete?

It has been a while dude, Scott obviously knows what he is doing--maybe too much success and not enough help? I would be frustrated also. As a matter of fact you have much more patience that I would have ever had.
Not knocking Scott now --not at all. Custom builds of this magnitude takes time. Custom build shops never give a completion date. Too many unknowns. Hope things smooth out

saw a video on a 3 rotor rx7 and DAMNNNN! Then I saw a vid with a 4 rotor rx 7 on the drag strip and oh my GOD> The sound was absolutely incredible and I have heard a LOT of good sounding cars in my 58 yrs. The 3 rotor car was breaking the tires aloose in 2nd gear with just the throttle and he was shoed with micky thompson drag radials.
there is a 3nd gen with a 3 rotor turbo'ed for sale on e bay--bidding 15K!!!!

Hey Guys, things are progressing along nicely with this project. Since this 3 rotor will be used for quite a bit of track days, Stick and I wanted to maximize balance and handling in this project and it's turning out very nice. This thinking outside of the box approach has turned into alot more work than we anticipated. We will have an update soon, Scott

this is going to be one sweet ride--one thing i noticed on the other cars was the torquing of the chassis---i bet this is one thing Scott is trying to make better.

Stock engine/internals on race gas. Just need slicks..already running low 11s and 130+ traps.

Yeah, wow, I was there Tuesday afternoon and saw your car. Didn't know it was yours...but it is sitting outside I believe. There are two other RX8s in there getting turbo kits I believe in the garage.

From what they said, one of his mechanics has only been there 30 days, and the other 60 days approximately..obviously has some staffing issues...since Scott can do only so much himself..certainly didn't help the situation.

But wow.. 1 year it has been there?

If your car is the one outside, it didn't look anywhere near completion to me.

Makes me feel a bit unsettled knowing that.

it's been frustrating to say the least.

scott gave me the third and hopefully the last ETA @ 12-21-2007.

that's to include a break-in by betsey (anyone can vouch for her driving skills? heh jk) and a dyno, so that would mean scott should be starting the engine in couple weeks.

and it's been more than a year... more than 14 months to be exact. if it's not done by december as scott promised, there'll be a grand smackdown at mazsport on that friday. i already have my plane tickets anyway.

i can more than vouch for betsys driving skills, and will treat the car as needed for the job at hand....

I'm glad to see the hot air from the radiator has somewhere to go.

Where else are you going to run a 4inch pipe?

Ahh. That's a great answer.

In this particular case, the only possibility is straight down.

Anything is better than extending the IAT leverage.
Every 10° to 15° F on that side of the turbo is 30° to 70° F on the other side.
That's 2 AKI points right there.

i don't think straight down is the answer either. radiator is bigger than the intercooler if you look at the pic closely. i just don't see any other way either.

betsey, i was half kidding hehe

i rather loose a few hp's from several hundred hp's scott will make with the 20b than sucking water into the engine internals every time it rains.

You are talking about a lot more power potential going down the drain than "a few", not to mention knock resistance.
I wouldn't point the filter at the ground, either.
BTW - who the hell drives a 400 HP custom car in the rain?

Anyway, I just wouldn't have pointed the turbo that way to begin with...

Best bet where it is would be to shroud it up to the hood and put in a scoop.

just get the KS style vented hood, so the area directly above is open... then a heat shield for the intake. Maybe design the sheild so that it is enclosed all around the sides and bottom and can only breath through the hood.

I think this turbo placement has to be re-think over. The 3 rotor conversion done by the Puerto Ricans look more cleaner compare to this one.
