some progress pics up. check out the engine placement!!!
that's the first and second rotor housing you see in the pic; you can't see the third rotor from the engine bay. the third one is stuck in the tranny tunnel right next to my right foot. the intake with 3-rotor written on it actually is placed several inches in front of where it should be in the stock form--which is why we need a new intake manifold. i haven't seen this sort of placement even in some of the hardest core rx7 projects.
the entire engine is dropped another 4-5"s from the acosta setup judging from the pics.

Ya see... that is why I totally have so much love for Scott and the Mazsport Homies... that placement is awesome! They obviously didn't cut any corners to get it right there.

I need to get rich...
I saw the LY 20b NA 8 up close and personal. I came in my pants. I hear the guy at Alamo Rotary is an ******* though...
Reading this made my dreams alter, hah. A trackable 20b NA. I just hate drag strips. But man, oh man, I love how it sits that far back...that's what I'd want..

check out post #1. i have a pic of the custom intake manifold being made. tranny is FD tranny.
rather than going straight up like the stock intake manifold, scott'll make it slanting forward so it'll fit the new intake position.
every now and then, i think to myself i should've stayed NA 20b. and in fact, if i knew the placement was going to be this good from the beginning, i probably stayed NA. don't think i'd need the turbo to keep up anymore well i guess it couldn't hurt though

i actually don't know his plans for that compartment. i asked him to put the turbo right at the exhaust manifold area (the greddy location), and the battery's going to the back for sure.
i wouldn't mind ducts out to the varis hood vents.
i'm sure he'll figure out something cool and functional or just something very cool.
maybe a v-mount??

for about 30 of you that are asking me for the project cost, contact mazsport because every install would be somewhat different.
about the 4" pwr radiator u see in the photo, it will be replaced with the heavier duty radiator. so far, there really has been zero compromise in quality and reliability. even the stock oil coolers are being replaced with upgraded aluminum coolers.

Hi, Sick How's your engine to floor ground clearnce!, Wow for a 25 Grand send it to Puerto Rico in just 6 to 7 weeks you have your car back and runnings in the streets. If you're considering using Fd's Tranny maybe you need another person in the back seat to throw the shifter because The FD tranny have the shifter about 5" back than Stock Rx8 tranny. i seen your engine is pull back around 5" so add this 5" to the shifter.

haven't seen the clearance in person, but scott's building custom oil pan that'll allow the engine to sit much lower than stock. it should also have higher oil capacity.
scott told me that lowest point of the car should be the 3" pipes that'll hang below the subframe possibly. i hope that scott will tuck the pipes in somehow so that the lowest point would be the subframe and all the solid rails of the car. in any case, i'll post pics as they come along.
25k would've been tempting, but i'm building a track car rather than drag car. and so far, i've been very happy with the progress scott has been making!!
