AccessPORT Alpha test started
Now if any of the "Pettit crew" were to come to another thread(like this one) for the sole purpose of being internet ****-disturbers, that would be ridiculous for many reasons.
This would make sense if Jeff were trying to market this over in the Pettit threads. As it is, he isn't, so I don't see the connection to this thread.

You are thread crapping. In case you didn't notice, the header on this thread is "AccessPORT", not "EFIDude". Talk about that in your own thread.
Should be the same as the Subies. The AP is $695. I don't know the price of the software, but you won't need it unless you really want it.
2) 50%? I'm going for 100%.
You want fries with that, too?
For the Pettit, this will be a big challenge since it won't idle because the blower isn't clutched (like a twin-screw needs to be on a street application). The idle is addressed on its own from the load maps, so it won't be an issue.
For now, they are not addressed because they don't figure into the performance equasion.
I turn mine on at 195°F, but you could turn them on all the time if you wanted to. You can control them separately, just like the OE control - because it is the OE control.
You mean coast-down? You can adjust anything that has a table. If the OE PCM does it, you can change it.
The fuel pump is already load-based, so you could just change the load point. The current build doesn't have it, but it will be in the next build on Monday or Tuesday.

Great info Jeff --thanks.
you are right about the load at idle and unfortunately(as far as idle purposes go) i also have a light flywheel
All these feature sure will be nice. I can even set a soft cut redline were I want it also
I wonder how long my learning curve would be? Or maybe i would be just as satisfied with a pre made map. I like a conservative tune anyway.
Damn i feel 5 yrs younger--now if I can JUST get this new engine in
olddragger

As for this thread, I am enjoying it. It really seems like Cobb has done their homework.
Jeff,
as far as the MAF being a tuning issue, so long as the stock MAF was used with a pipe the same diameter and the stock screen, does the intake tube length matter as far as tuning? You made a comment about this earlier and I'm not sure I completely followed your response.

Please allow me to introduce myself...
To all,
My name is Christian Krahenbuhl, I am a trainer, one of the calibrators at Cobb Tuning, and I manage the AccessTUNER Professional network. We have set up a company blog and I also have a personal section there for myself that you are welcome to read through to get a better idea about our company and myself. We have extensive experience with tuning Subarus, Mitsubishis, Nissans, & Mazdas through the OEM ECU. I am also familiar with calibrating various stand alone ECUs on rotary and piston engines. As you know, we are getting closer and closer to releasing the AccessPORT for the RX-8. I wanted to make myself available to answer any questions you may have concerning the AccessPORT and the AccessTUNER Professional software. I will be paying attention to this and many other forums so please allow me sufficient time to respond.
I will be working with Jeff (MazdaManiac) and other tuners across the U.S. in order to help them better understand the various aspects of using the stock EMS for generating calibrations. I look forward to answering your questions. As with many new products that we release, we cannot expect to get everything absolutely perfect with the initial release of a product. We appreciate your feedback and we want to make sure we understand your expectations of our products for the RX-8. We have set up this link on our forums to help us directly communicate with our RX-8 AccessPORT end users. Please feel free to register there.
Take care,
Christian.
