Any stop gap suggestions in the mean time? 600$ at a dealer ship is way to steep for a 100$ problem.... Stupid proprietary tools.

Seriously though, Thanks for the help all.
Thanks for the update!
So you try contacting Charles at BHR

They use to sell an entire fuel pump assembly replacement
You could also rent the special tool for a small fee.

could be too much oil pressure- unless it ran fine previously . Otherwise it is more likely to be a poor job done on the rebuild .

OK so I really need help on this question. I have asked it in different ways and I am too dumb to figure out the meaning of the great (I am sure they are great-I just can not track) answers to my question.

I check my oil
I see it is not full
I need to know when to add more oil
I know not to overfill it cuz the motor will blow and destroy the entire universe
I know not to let it run out cuz this would lead to motor blow and end of life as we know it here on Earth
I woud really like to know the following

I see the little dots on the dipstick and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could let me know at which dot (or whatever other level) I should add a bit of lube juice to my sled?

Cheers and thanks for all the fun,
Yogi

I can't recall at the moment but I know my Series I owners manual had approximately how much to add at the different levels on the dip stick.

I'm not at home so I can't check it out for you.

If you don't have the owners manual you can download it from here

WOW!!! I now have a picture on my phone from the online owners manual showing how much each "dot" means in terms of adding oil!!!

Thank you,

Especially the downpipe to turbo connection?

Now that I have my oil questions answered...

I have an UNGENT matter that requires the hive mind to solve for me...

I have my super car '10 RX8 and I have zaino put on to keep things super smooth and glossy and this has worked out fantastic but...

When I drive in the rain I get "globules" of water dancing in the groves of the "V" on my hood and I fear I am going to kill someone as I try to make these water blobs dance to MY TUNE...

I have swerved violently to get one blob "jump" to the other side of the hood and I have dropped down some gears to see if I can get them to SHOOT over the window...

Any thoughts short of drilling hoes in my hood would be greatly appreciated on my end (my wife says she is going full drill if I do not come up with something soon...

Thanks,
Yogi

had me lollin. But if you add too much oil, then it gets all whipped up and acts like marshmallow... Which is bad.

I know you were being sarcastic, but I just had to say that in case you didnt know the real reason lol.

Things I have learned after a fuel pump replacement:

1. If you buy a Napa fuel ring remover tool, you may have to cut it down about an inch to make it fit inside your fuel well. Otherwise You Just Might Break a few Splines on the Fuel Ring

2. If your fuel pump has never been replaced, you just might want to find the following items:

2a. 1/2' cheater bar. The ring hates you and wants to stay on for good reason.

2b. A Mallet and dull screw driver or dull metal chisel: If the ring refuses to move, a beating may ensue.

2c. Silicone based penetration lubrication: If the nylon ring refuses to budge, it may have sand and other garbage embedded under it since we are talking about 100000 miles of shaking here.

2d. Another Nylon Locking Ring: It will make sense in a min. You Must Buy from dealer or dealer like people. I tried Parts Warehouse, they are awesome, but they were hit by a tornado when I needed the part. Still, props to those guys for still making things happen in the middle of Weather Gone Wild. Dealer is almost guaranteed, but you might have to wait a week.

2e. A wood chisel: If your ring was like mine, it took half a day of using the napa spline tool and then a beating with the mallet and chisel before I realized I am now missing 50% of my splines, 30% of my knuckles, and 40% of my sanity. And the Second Ring was now out of place and moving with the nylon lock ring. 100000 miles = cut it off or go slightly crazy.

2f. A crucifix: Probably for all the swearing, possibly for lost sanity. Definitely for the open fuel since your own rage might set fire to it; if the ring was a PITA like mine. Oh yeah, fuel rags would be good too.

3. Carb Cleaner does wonders on cleaning a dirty fuel sock, and helps diffuse the rage. Might be the fumes.

4. Black Halo Racing will have your pump in before Mazda will be able to figure out what you are asking for. Bring a picture or just show them your back seat. Just saying, they look at lots of parts....

5. Use the Black Halo Pump. After close to 2000 miles in 4 days with spirited, normal, miserly, and reckless driving; it's still working. And I ran the tank to E. A few times actually. No failures, power loss, or sputtering.

Still better than the 600 the dealer wanted.

Possible very dumb question so im posting this here. Ive read of someone that combined renesis irons with rx7 housings but wasnt able to provide a lot of info on it. I know the cut off seal is the major difference but what else would be needed to make this work?

On a sidenote why cant peripheral ports be cut into renesis housings? I assume a coolant jacket is there? But there cant be anymore issues.

I read the street rotary book, anymore great reads on rotarys and what not? id really like to get further into engine reading and learn to possibly build one. Gotta love the Rotary, made me interested into everything about them.

Thanks in advance!
It shouldn't effect smoging the car, however I'm not familiar with the smog regulations in Cali.
I know they are strict.

The one thing the intake will give you is more engine noise. This will not be a contested fact. Whether that for you is a good thing or not is your decision.

Everything else about intakes is hotly argued with some members ready to dive on their swords over what I would call loose claims and facts.

Therefore in the effort to prevent this thread from turning in to another bitch fest about intakes, I would kindly direct you to this thread.

OK so I have truly found my home HERE in this thread...

Now to business...

I have got the information about reading my dipstick here (THANK YOU ALL)
I have enjoyed many belly laughs reading other peoples questions and comments in this thread...

I managed to add oil to my motor and I "hit my mark" with a just under full reading on the dipstick!!!

I then managed to not put the oil fill cap back on and drove for two tanks of gas (about 400 miles) before checking my oil and seeing that I had not replaced the fill cap...( so very proud of my oil checking remembering skill-so sad to admit that I evidently have no "Remove AND REPLACE" skill set when it comes to checking my oil level as R&R relates to the cap ;-(

So to my question: What type of damage have I done to my car? (the damage to my self esteem and cool factor is self evident)
I fully expect someone to come to my house and rescue my fantastic car from my negligent ministrations (loving though they might be).

Any help and or advise (about the oil cap issue) will be greatly appreciated.
Any personal advise will as always be taken to heart...and maybe even acted upon to the best of my admittedly atrophied abilities.

Thanks as always,
Yogi

Exactly what I was going to type, glad I did a refresh first.

+1 as long as nothing fell in the hole you are fine.
+1 do an oil change just for safety.

+1 have done the exact same thing .... but on my old Pontiac GTP. I hated that thing. Never did buy a new oil cap for it ... just drove without one.

...car I have ever cared enough about to actually change the oil. I have owned a long series of true beaters and buckets (many push start as a matter of daily driving in my past-I once removed my gas pump bare handed and installed one from a junk yard barehanded using the same "gasket"- muffler was once made from a guacamole can- five foot gouts of flame from the carb on my 69 charger as I started it with quick start-no front seat on my 67.69.72 bug and so on...)I usually just let a leak develop and add oil to keep things "fresh in there".

So you can understand why I need you'all's expert advise...

Cheers and it is raining here again (see post about blobules and my fascination with making them dance (I STILL need help on that issue)

Thanks as always,
Yogi
