I need to replace my Neutral Switch (I have CEL code P0850). Car is '04 MT. I've been having trouble locating the part online. Some sites list the "netural safety switch" but I'm not sure if that's the same part or just for the AT.

Does anyone know the part number for the Neutral Switch for a MT?

I've seen in a few posts that the Neutral Switch is now the same part as the reverse/backup switch--does that mean I can order the backup switch and use it for the Neutral Switch? It seems obvious, I know, but I want to be sure I'm understanding correctly.

Thanks!
Neutral switch and reverse switch now had one part #..Y611-17-640A this was the part number on my receipt.

I have a serious "dumb" question. I just had my engine replaced and 3 days later I'm driving and the engine dies. It sounded alot like when I ran out of gas a looooong time ago before the engine replacement, but the fuel gauge read 1/4 full. No idiot light or anything. I added 2 gallons of gas and presto it's alive again. Then I top her off and I can only put in 10 gallons, meaning I have topped off a 14 gallon tank with 12. So is my tank broken? Do I have a bad fuel senor? Or do I "air" or something in the tank that is not letting me fill up or read my fuel gauge correctly? Either way, I am going to the mechanic to see what's up.

Planning to plasti dip my stock wheels just to try a different look. I was going to do green but on the site they dont have green . So i was thinking painting them white ?? Do you guys think it would look good ?? Or maybe blue but im leaning towards white. I can always peel it off if i dont like it which is the best thing about this paint

I would check to make sure all of your fuel lines and injectors were re-installed properly. If not, then the fuel could be leaking into your engine bay. Which could be very bad.

I would take your car back to the place that did your engine swap and tell them about the problem and make them inspect it. The odds of your fuel level sensor are much lower than a tech screwing up a fuel line during the engine swap.

Also, get it writing that they checked it out and its "ok"

^+1 The place that fixed your engine should be able to inspect it with no issues.

Rotary-RX8, white would look best, imo. Any other color on stock RX8 looks funny

^ did they replace the fuel hose? I've read some thread about a shinka that caught on fire because the clip came loose, so they re clipped it, but you arent supposed to do that.. its supposed to be fully replaced in the engine swap

This is very important. This is how another user (rotaryrasp) caught his 8 on fire and totaled it.

It is THAT important.

I'd also make sure you have comprehensive insurance coverage until it gets checked.

Is there a comparable car to the RX-8? Meaning...

Small 4 seater, 4 door, lightweight, RWD (possibly AWD), handles almost as well as the 8, option rich, same price range, looks almost as awesome as the 8, good reliability...

How can you tell if your rotors need to be replaced??? Apparently if you run your finger around the edge of the rotor and if you feel a lip it needs to be replaced ?? Is that true ?? Any other ways to find out ?

lol Super, for it's class, it's very lightweight.

I suppose all those attributes is why I picked the 8 over any other car, ie WRX, RSX type S... No other car has it like the RX-8

So first off i'd like to start off and say i just got my first RX-8 yesterday and i absolutely love it. It came with a mazdaspeed cold air intake unistalled. My Dumb question is what are the pro's and con's of this cold air intake? The seller said he had taken it off to smog the car and never ended up putting it back on, does it affect smogging the car? Thanks in advance!
