How many pistons does my RX-8 have? The sales guy at the dealership said it had 6 but I'm not sure.

It has 8. That's what the 8 in RX-8 stands for.

That's also why the RX-7 is so valuable... because it has 7 pistons.

He made a special dispensation for V8 supercars just cuz they go to NZ once a year

so why are RX7s faster than RX8s ?
