Yeah, I'm looking for a track car that'll still be reasonably comfortable as a DD. I just don't want to lose to a stock Z I guess.

I originally wanted a cheap drift car, but for the price of a decent 240 I could get an rx-8, and a Z in the same shape as an rx-8 seems to be about $4k more and inferior in a lot of ways. I've had great fun at the track so I'd like to get into track days and gymkhana.

So midpipe, AP, sway bars, struts, endlinks, good spring/shock(or coilovers?), sound like a good start?

---------------------------

flooding- gas left in engine if you shut it off like you would a normal car(from my little knowledge)

apparently synthetic is bad for the rotary. There's some long threads on what oil ppl use.

The rx-8 engines seem more reliable than the rx-7 so 70-80k km seems really low. Plus it's under warranty for 100k miles(not sure about in Pakistan since there prolly aren't too many mazda dealerships there). If you take care of it it seems like a lot of people are getting well over 100k miles off their cars. I'm a little worried about buying a used one with 50-60k miles on it since maybe the previous buyer treated it porrly, but since it'll still be under warranty I'm not so worried.

oh and figs lifted them off of the hood, if thats whom you are referring to..
they're only like 100 pounds each, and the sides of the hood is sitting on the fenders, so its not that incredibly bad
not as bad as this video i saw of some show car RX8... and one model was standing on its park bench on the back..

Its a good start...no way a stock Z can keep up in the turns...the 50/50 weight distribution keeps this car on its toes
good spring/shock combo is much better than coilovers (Yellows/S techs are my preference lol)...do some reasearch to see what suits you but any coilovers worth having are very expensive

did you just claim that a good spring/shock combo is better than coilovers??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. coilovers ftw if you are looking for a track car that is still streetable. if a spring/shock combo is better, then why do pro's use coilovers?

i went to this guy that specializes with rotary engines, he did a check up for me.. 1 of 2 things could be the problem for my car (or both). My battery wattage is too low, or my crappy starter is crapping out, as my car wont start hot if i turn it off and come back out in a few minutes.

my current battery is 800 watts, he says i need a 1000 watt batter.. so.. how many watts does that have?

cranking amps is like 960. have you considered a compression test? there is a third possibility.

lol, I have a tester, a regular one.. I just don't feel like doing it quite yet because I already took my airbox off once to get the plug at the bottom of the engine unplugged to seafoam my engine.. But in any case, that'd be a whole other thing.. I think. Didn't know that was the cranking amps, thanks

and that's a 1000 watt battery then?

well if I do the math 12v x 960A ... it's more like 11,000 watts ... watts and amps all by themselves don't mean much capacity wise... you need that time variable, ie watts or amps per hour. cranking amps is much more a measurement of peak output.

I was never good with electrical stuff.. But I don't understand your math, as we aren't using a battery with over 10k watts..

apparently so when it comes to the 5-10 seconds it takes to crank your engine. The peak output of a battery has nothing to do with its capacity. The battery is capable of producing up to 11,000 watts of power for a very brief period of time... that doesn't mean it'll run all the lights in your house for a day.

As a matter of fact after about 30 seconds to a minute of cranking your battery will be dead and as the voltage drops so do the watts.... at which point CA is completely irrelevant.

Should add it isn't my math per say.... it's more a matter of law .... Amps X Volts = Watts

Shell

ah, well i think i learned something new.. i think. but it takes a long time to start my car up probably because of one of the previous problems stated. Although... I think my hot starts take longer than my cold starts....... I dont know. It's been like this since i got it and never drove any other rx8 before, so I wouldnt know what it should regularly do.

Dumb Question: What is the location of the stock IAT sensor? Is it in the MAF assembly or elsewhere?

Ummmm I can see now what you speak of ... it was poorly written.

I was referring to the entire maf assembly/housing/plastic piece and that the IAT sensor was the tear drop looking thing "it's with the maf sensor" (poorly written, yes. I was not directly referencing the Maf sensor but the entire unit).
I indicated that the maf itself was way up inside.

I think I answered it this way because the first part of the question was "where is the stock IAT sensor located?".
My first thought was it's with the MAF sensor. <shrug> ... anyways

Still a grammar fail ... so a double it is

@Stinksause .... what is your concern? post linky if you start a new thread
