Yup. It's the reason the S1 injectors are pointed at the side seals. The race teams found out rather quickly that even if they premixed heavily, deleting the OMP injection resulted to a blown engine very quickly. The cooling effect of the oil on the side seals is considerable and rather critical.
Mazda slipped up on the S1 by ignoring the lubrication needs of the apex seal, hence the 3rd injector added back to the center for the S2, but it doesn't change the importance of cooling on the side seals sitting next to the blazing hot exhaust ports.

I just barely bought a 2004 Mazda RX-8 from a guy who was the only owner and bought it brand new back in 04. It only has 68,000 miles on it. It was his wife's daily driver. Anyways, the engine coolant light comes on sporadically then shuts off and I was wondering what I would need to do to make it disappear, where to get the things to flush it and how much it would be. Thanks guys! I have little experience with cars, let alone rotary. I got this car to learn.

Take some time and read through the new owner's thread for most of the answers to the questions you will have in the near future. The coolant level light will come on for low fluid or a faulty sensor. So if the fluid is fine, then the sensor failed. A new bottle + cap is $130ish from Mazmart, and replacement is simple. I recommend getting the version with the added short hose. That hose goes from the coolant bottle to the radiator, and it's down out of sight and hard to see clearly. The radiator nipple that it fits over is brittle and weaker than the hose itself. Many here (including me), thought for sure that we could get the hose off without breaking the radiator nipple, only to find out that it is REALLY weak, and just some hose tension was enough. When it breaks, your only option is to replace the radiator ($150ish from Mazmart and a more complicated job). If you get the bottle version with the short hose added, you can just cut the hose in half, move the bottle out of the way, then cut the hose remains off the radiator nipple without any worry or risk.
If you chose to ignore the coolant light, that is an option too, however keep in mind that you will need to check the coolant level more frequently. Engine damage from overheating or too low on coolant can happen before the coolant temp needle even starts to move. Don't take risks with it.

Hello guys....never posted here before and need your help. My partner and I have a 2007 Mazda RX-8 and we put Seafoam in the gas tank about a month ago. I've read about putting in the oil and intake hose? but we haven't done that. We are NOT good with cars =/ but for about a week now the engine light has been on. Right before it came on we got some gas and then it kinda sputtered afterwards for a minute and then the light came on. We thought maybe it was bad gas or something. But it's still on even though I have filled it up since then. We were going to take it to the local Kwik Lube (they have received great reviews for customer service) because we think maybe the fuel filter needs changing but won't be able to until Monday. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and the tire light stays on.

Yes, seafoam can be used directly in the gas tank too. It may not be beneficial, but it certainly won't hurt anything. Adding it to oil is possible, but REALLY dangerous if you can't do a 100% complete oil change. Having oil coolers makes that nearly impossible on an RX-8, so I really don't recommend adding it to oil.
Your problem sounds like it has more to do with ignition failure than the seafoam or bad gas.

This link jumps to a post regarding ignition health: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...4/#post4533701
Read that then come back and answer: "How old are your coils, plugs, and wires?"

CEL comes on for many reasons. The usual suspects are bad ignition and/or bad catalytic converter. With the bad ignition, (misfires) commonly ruining the cat.
Get your codes read at most local auto parts stores for free, & that will usually tell you why the CEL occurred.
Tire light is your tire pressure monitors telling you to put air in your tires.

Progress sells the gusseted brackets themselves: Progress Technology: Anti-roll bars, sport springs, coil-overs, camber kits and more since 1995!
I bought it through them a few years ago, calling their customer support. I forget how much they cost, I want to say around $30+
