I think this is a good idea and I like the location. I'm even wondering if you do not move the filter even more foreward like in a MS/AEM CAI to catch some air from the front of the car. However in the present location at least the air would be cooler there.

I have been intrigued why this is not done more.

I’m not sure at what you are referring to? The K&N filter/Air Box assembly is already as forward as possible without blocking the OEM entry hole to the engine bay. Fresh/Ram Air is sucked in thru the seven front openings of the RB Ram Air funnel and strait into the K&N Air Filter/Assembly. Therefore you end up with Fresh/Ram Air and no engine bay hot air. I’m sure there are many other ways to achieve the same effect but I did my setup with what I had in my garage. Perhaps someone out there can develop, R&D and fabricate a cleaner and more sophisticate setup and profit from it. Anyways, thanks for the observation and suggestions always welcome.

Juan,
I'm pretty sure he missed the fact that you had the Ram Air.
I swear I'm gonna get that SC to work on my Revi intake box. I'll be calling you when I get that far!

I think Juan had the Revi intake box before he got his SC, so I don't think it's possible to get it in there. I'm going to go hunting this weekend for an airbox to hack up to work with the RB Ram Air Duct I have coming. You're welcome to come along if you'd like. Maybe we can find two of them in preparation for when you get the SC. Like I said earlier, food and beer is on me.

That is very true - If it was possible it would have been done on my car. Even if you chop up the box you will have to alter the internals. Re-engineering the Rev-i does not seem practical or prudent.

Whoa guys.........Being an Engineer, I'm always going to be looking or be thinking of a better possible solution. Maybe not the Revi exactly, but I am a believer in the fundamental Engineering put behind the Revi intake system. I'm not claiming it world best or anything, let's make that clear. I'm simply thinking about what I believe might be the best overall solution and how to get there. I don't even have the SC yet, but when I do........I want the best air to it I can get, pure and simple......even if I have to Engineer myself! Now of course not having the equipment to build and test(to collect the data) makes this infinitely more difficult (and may not even be possible), but that doesn't stop me from considering it or giving myself a challenge. So now...............let's get this thread back on track and talk about the SC.

Once I get all settled with the s/c, my next planned project is a direct inline "Ram" type inlet for direct airflow. It may not be as efficient as the Revi, but I am hoping the direct inline flow will breath nicely and open it up much more. Baring filters to block "water/rain", I think it will work well!
Any ideas or thoughts?

BTW... 1 week till I head down to be super charged!

As I am painted, I had planned on custom fabricating my stock bumper. Just drill out the hole, have a brushed Alum rotor shape cut, and then devise some kinda rain filter.
The photo is on a MazSpeed bumper, but I can make it work on a stock, I am sure.

Dyno Tune

Folks,

I'm heading to Mazsport on Wednesday to do a dyno tune on my car and hopefully get some hp/torque data. You can look down at my signature and figure out what I’m bringing to the table. The only thing is not mentioned is that I use Royal Purple oil in the engine, transmission and differential.

Since my street tune session I have changed my plugs to 3rd gen trailings both leadings and trailings and changed the oil in the SC from mineral to Royal Purple 50W which BTW cut down some of the rattle noise while engine is in idle. I’m also taking off my modified RB/High Flow mid pipe for the test and just using the RB mid pipe since I want to achieve the most hp/torque. I’m bringing a digital camera and a video camera for the dyno tune. I will post the pictures and video soon after the event.

cool - look forward to seeing that . would be great if you can get as much of the rpm range as possible - we still don't know what happens after 7700

I really like this bumper. Hey, they have some articles on a supercharged 350Z that use this same "hole in the bumper" concept.

RB Gauge Panel

Just got my RB Gauge Panel but decided to go with Cyberdyne Red gauges. I had to modify the panel to make the gauges sit flush for a better look. The Cyberdyne gauges look a bit tacky but it is easier for me to read than a needle gauge, especially while driving in the “like you stole it” mode. It is easy for me to quick look down at the gauges, due in part to their location, and back to the road ahead. The middle (empty hole) is reserved for a future Innovate W/B DB gauge pending available funds unless someone out there will like to contribute to my RX8addiction. Paypal transfers accepted.

I was able to achieve 6.3 psi in 3rd gear and 7.5 psi while standing.

I don't think it looks tacky at all. Red car, red/black leather interior, red console lights; it fits in nicely. I think I'm going for the autometer nexus gauges when I do mine, but I'm going to wait until next year. The ScanGauge II I bought should hold me over until then.

Looks good, but I think I like these two better.

I just can't stop driving my 8. I would even drive it to the bathroom if I could.

My next mod will be gauges.

I've always wanted a younger woman, maybe I should apply.

Cam's sending me a new toy for the s/c (compressor vent). Do you have it yet? It's supposed to help under heavy load conditions

I have the vent. The car seems smoother when I am under high load. It feels smoother.
