Yes demand is low for sure, no one is making a living off of selling RX-8 parts. It is a labor of love for sure and it is a dysfunctional relationship at that.

And I'm the poster boy. The only reason I can still sell Axiaflow shifters for the Rx8
is all the tooling and programs were paid for awhile ago.
I still have to stop doing something profitable and squeeze them in.
Thankfully it's a great mod and trouble free.
There aren't alot of those for this car (as you all know).

All of those are pretty nice. I wish i still had my alum welder or id be intreated in the flanges Richard. I really enjoy my shirt shifter also.

9k are y'all maintaining the uim length or cutting it short?

I had missed seeing those custom intake pics.

My idea for a turbo RX8 is to eliminate the UIM and replace it with a plenum on top of the LIM and the throttle body right there facing forward on the RH side of the engine rather than run it over across the engine. With a v-mount setup having an intercooler discharging out the hood the intake piping between the compressor to the IC to the TB would be extremely short and simpler. Easily less than 1/3 the flow length of a Greddy setup and everything on top of the engine being easily accessible.

On an NA Renesis you can't out-do the engineering Mazda put into the UIM/LIM combo ... the two situations (NA vs FI) are entirely different

I agree Mark, I am just not looking for that great of a change at this point. If I went that route I would do the PWR race core in a V-mount setup and full custom FI piping. An undertaking I am simply not ready to tackle at this moment. My current plan is to swap my custom expanded teflon home-built flat lim-uim gasket out with a set of OEM O rings and have the UIM grooved to accept them.

Did a good amount of work today. I fabricated some mounts for my secondary cooling system. The bar you see at the bottom of the secondary "radiator" cooler is adjustable and will be very close to the bottom engine cowl. This new thermal exchange unit should give me enough thermal capacity to also add a large coolant to engine oil cooler or auxiliary liquid cooler of any type. I just have one more fluid line to build and I should be back running.

I would love to replace the complicated LIM on the renny but fear I would lose so much of my bottom end drivability it would not be worth it in the end.

It is a genuine Garrett intercooler core and should give me more than enough thermal transfer. If not I have another much larger unit on hand.

I was up and running just fine for awhile boosted. I ended up getting my hands on a metal upper intake pipe and then a adaptronic. Along the way I decided to upgrade my secondary coolant system, redoing the right mount again and am in the process of replacing all the PLX bullshit I had in the car. I'm easily distracted and in the middle of some schooling (A&P licensing) that has my mind other places. I should be back driving again by this weekend.

Should not be an issue on a properly sized and configured turbo engine. Your reply is NA oriented. Different ball game, but if you slap on a slow spooling setup there could be issues then. A good setup should have positive boost starting in the low 2xxx rpm range. Otherwise downshift.

The stock lim is already doing work at that low range rpm and i am worried about how that will change the driveabititly aspect of the set up in a negative aspect......

Additionally on the system I described the flow path from the turbo to the intake is about 60% - 70% shorter than say a Greddy type setup. I don't really expect many people to get it.

I agree, if one could switch to a maf based ECU set up and cut the amount of turbo piping in half i see no reason why a person would need a good portion of the LIM functions. I will most likely tweak the settings to open things earlier on my current set up.

You still don't seem to be getting it. The system I described only eliminates the UIM. The LIM system still remains functional, though VDI doesn't serve any useful purpose and could just stay closed. A turbo car doesn't need to be concerned with power from idle to 2000 rpm. Again, 1st and 2nd gears are so low it doesn't matter and in any other gear you can downshift. Well, any way that was just my idea on how to do it ...

The car is up and running mostly well, it has some tuning issues for both cold and hot enrichment along with some other minor things.
