BTW - I only used the dynojet setting as a windup . But seeing as you guys are doing it now as well and we need as much help as we can get - That is the new std RX8 club setting

Results are in .....

Green line - modified port runner , 60-1 compressor
Red line - stock port runner , 60-1 compressor
Blue line - stock port runner , T04e 57 trim compressor

So :
*Modified runner had little effect except in initial spoolup of turbo where it had a negative effect.
*57 trim wheel spools up way quicker
*60-1 wheel has more top end (as you would expect)

Also:
virtual dyno confirms what we see on the load chart.

Why does the load axis only go to 100?

Too bad your idea didn't pan out but big thumbs up to trying something new.

Good spotting - yeah that is a quirk with ME . For some reason loads are shown 1/2 their true value . So just double the loads shown for a true reading.

And thanks , yeah it made a LOT of work for me to try this . I'm very Disappointed.

too late for that - I have a 60-1 in there .
The 57 does seem like it was a better choice although I still have this nagging doubt there is more to it (the reduced response) than just the wheel swap .

Did you have turbo balanced when you did the swap?

I had a guy that does nothing but rebuild turbos do the job . He has an excellent reputation so I'm sure he did whatever was necessary.

So would I ...

Although a trip to the dyno may just make the red pill a little more palatable

Cool, I am sure he has the tooling to do that then. I just ask because I have found a lot of turbo re-builders here do not actually have a balancing machine and anytime you make a change like that, the turbo should be rebalanced.

Just comparing spoolup with a couple of other turbo setups seems to suggest mine is on par with what others with the 60-1 are getting so that answers that question.

I have a feeling that you may have underestimated the affect of a taller final gear ratio on the feel of the car.??
I do know that when I put shorter track wheels on you can rally tell the difference.
In my drag racing days..gearing was a huge part of the package.

I know what you are saying but the proof is in the load chart shown earlier . The 57 trim was just better suited to the power range I am operating in .
I think this is valuable information for anyone wanting to upgrade the Greddy - don't go for a 60-1 . T04e57 or 60 trim is preferable.

you really should include a turbine spec, because that mated with a t4 1.00 ar wouldn't be great at all....

Did a few tweaks . Smiling again

Other than response - That red pill is looking pretty good now .
57 trim old engine - blue
60-1 new engine - red

Ummmmmm - yeah it's quick !

Can anyone say ........................432whp ? LOL

The bulge at 7500 does look suspect but I can say it feels VERY strong between 7000 and 8000 .

looks good, when I get some logs you can help me with that top end too, I seemed to be getting bulges then too.

looks like you flat line with 200% calc load for a bit then comes down.

is that first spike your wastgate opening? maybe you could touch up the boost controller?

Yeah - this the first time I've reached that 200% load barrier . Afrs look fine and timing is locked at 8 degrees at that point . Should be ok........... I hope .

Yeah , spike is the WG . Iv'e noticed it is harder to control the spike on the 60-1 than the 57 . Perhaps because the max boost is reached at a higher rpm with the 60-1.
Have played with it till the cows came home and that's as good as I can get it .
