It is possible but you will need some specialized tools. I recommend watching some rebuild videos on Youtube to get an idea. It's not easy, but if you are an experienced mechanic and follow the engine workshop manual you can do it.

Installing Bilstein B8 struts with Tein Stechs this weekend. Have a few questions. First off, why are the torque specs in the FSM a range and not just one number? My torque wrench works in Ft lbs so I'm trying to read that, which is the second set of numbers inside the brackets (ie - 62.0-72.2 in this example).
Also, I received the Stechs - but the instructions aren't clear. Which springs are for the fronts and the backs? I'm assuming it's obvious once I have the old ones off, but are the taller ones for the front or the back? And finally, anybody know if I need to modify the bump stop that comes with the B8's? Bilstein doesnt mention anything and the sheet Tein provided didnt list the RX8, but did list other cars. Anybody know?

For the torque specs, most things are a range, not totally sure why. That would be a question for an engineer or someone whos asked an engineer. I work on F-18s for the Navy and all the stuff we torque has a range for the spec. We generally just torque it to the value in the middle of the range.
Im not certain but the tall springs should go on the back, as for modifying the bump stop im not sure.
Look for white lettering on the springs. One will have an F, the other an R
There should be instructions for the bump stops On where to cut them off at. It's into a cone shape almost.

Thanks guys, I figured out the springs - yes its printed on them (duh!).
Still not sure about the bump stop, the provided one on the bilsteins are much smaller than OEM. The instructions from Tein say to cut 1 inch off the OEM bump stop. So does it seem safe to assume if the provided Bilstein one is shorter than OEM by an inch or more I should be in good shape?

High mileage
Hi, Im looking at getting a 2006 RX8 but im not sure if it will do the high mileage that i do. Will it do 350 mile journeys? How will the engine cope with sitting without being used for long periods of time?
A healthy, well-maintained RX8 will do long trips, no problem. But if you are looking for a high mpg car, this car is not it. Premium fuel and low mpg make you pay for your fun in a RX8. If you are not ready for that, pick a different car.
Do you guys think vents in these locations would look good?
More duct work is in order once I decide on the locations, one or both up top would be intake and both in front would be for the radiator stack.

Hi I bought an 05 RX8 6sp for me and my girl (she wanted a sports car). Looking it over last night I found someone had replaced all the 90 on the intake bellows with "T"s causing post MAF air induction. I have no CEL but Why would someone do that, or was last owner just an idiot?

Those plastic 90's break easily if manhandled. The P.O. was an idiot and figured the T's would do. Don't leave it like that, it will cause it to run lean which is very not good. Go get some new 90's from Mazda. They don't cost that much.
Also visit the new owners forum here and read all the stickies. Valuable information there. Plugs and coils should be on the short agenda depending on miles. Visual inspection of the catalytic converter guts too.

Bought the car from a broker. The car got a motor from MAZDA 25k in 07 ago per sticker on firewall. But that would mean car has gone 25k in last 9 years. It has some new looking non stock coils but I'm not sure what they are.

Could be. A call to Mazda North America or a dealer would tel you for sure.
