The no sarcasm caveat is not limited to those responding to the dumb questions.
Those asking the dumb questions need to be respectful also.
It's a two way street.

You will find that the statement "No flaming or sarcasm" is only window dressing and even the mods here break those rules and when you say some thing they gang up on you.
If any of them took the time to go back and really read the thread and not look for things to jump on which is what they do here, they would see that it was a simple beginning in my question which i withdraw, that i only wanted to know if i could take the line off my oil sum that draws from the sump and use a container to deliver clean oil other than the oil sump avoiding the sohn, thats it.
Don't get me wrong this is a great site to gain information from. There is a wealth of infformation here but warning: This isn't a good site to partisipate in because of the way the mods let others flame and so forth and then blame it on you for reacting to there attacks, yes even here in the "Dumb question section. The disclaimer they use is just window dressing to look good to the unsuspecting world at large.
The deal is and i was warned from a few folks who were banned here that the minute you even think of putting forth a response to their initial attack you are doomed here even in the dumb question section. It's sad to think these are adults.
I thiunk after what has happened to me that i will from today forward just lurk as was advised to me by others banned and others who just got tired of folks pandering to their friends here to gain popularity(Just like school yard bullys).
My advice to you sir is don't defend what is proper and right just ignor it or you might be on thier twisted hit list. I am going to try another site recommended to me by a friend who used to come here till he had enough.
It's clear to me this is a sight to come and get the wealth of information from that exist here just don't partisipate at all you will be attacked for sure. When i told a few friends what happened they laughed at me and said "I told you it would happen".
There is a caustic click that runs riot over this site. beware all. The higher the post count the more likely these folks are going to belong to the click here and the more sacastic they are and it seems the more they pander to the others by character assination.

I am not trying to reinvent the sohn i was simply asking if i could not use the sohn and just plug the line the omp draws from and put it so it draws from a seperate container thats all.Remember this is the ddumb question section isn't it?.By the way the fact that there isa dumb question section is testiment to the fact that remarks that tend to be little a person does exist. Here's how it usually goes on here......
Problem usually start when your question gets answered and you persist in trying to do things "your way" without trying to comprehend what you are asking to do....
People get irritated....and you start to get flamed....then you start to react like a spoilt child...and then you basically have painted a huge " kick me" sign on your back
I'm not saying that this is exactly what happened in your case....but maybe think about how your behavior effects the responses you get from others
One of my pet peeves on forums are people that have run-on sentences and poor grammar and punctuation.
The more you try to be "nice" and present yourself as "nice"...the more likely you will get "nice" answers and help

Once again, I've been a member here for about 2 years and never had a problem.
For the most part, the people I have observed who got banned were too thin skinned and easily offended by even innocuous comments.
I haven't seen anything so offensive as to warrant the reaction expressed by reni04.
Just comments made by people who are having trouble understanding the question.
It may be just me though.

Time for everyone to let it go and move on.
Since I did not follow the original discussion or put any effort into refereeing (past few weeks have been rough) I'm not in a position to scold anyone in particular. But all should remember that on-line arguments rarely lead anywhere, the whole discussion is out there for all to see anyway, and "last lick" posts just help things fester.

Here are 2 dumb questions:
1) Got a 2009 R3 last month that only had 12,500 miles on it. I think the original owner bought it and just didn't drive it. I took it to a Mazda dealer because the clutch pedal was sticking and I was thinking the clutch bracket might be broken (and under warranty). It wasn't broken, but while the car was there, they checked the firmware rev on the PCM, and told me it needed to be updated. They then told me it would cost $100 to update it. When I had my previous rx8 (sold in 2011) the dealer just did those updates for free... IS it normal to charge for these now?
2) Related to the firmware update. Does anyone have a list of updates and the changes included in those updates starting with the 2009 Series II? I'm having an odd starting issue that doesn't seem like coils, plugs, wires or compression and I was thinking maybe the ECU update could fix it. The car always starts fine cold, and always starts fine hot, but if I drive it, get it warm (drive on the highway for a while) then park it and shut it off... wait 30-60 min then try to start it again (temp is just low enough that the variable redline indicator shows 7k instead of 9k... usually jumps to 9k after driving a block)... it'll crank and crank and not start (feels like no fuel... doesn't even cough or sputter or attempt to start), then as soon as I let off the key, it'll suddenly start running. It feels like my project car with a standalone EMS that isn't getting enough fuel on cranking. Anyway, it always starts normally if I key off and key on again... it's just weird.

Hello everyone. A couple of weeks back I posted about a transient overheat issue here. Car would stay around 212F fine at idle and then out of the blue, slowly climb up to 219. I don't know if it would've kept on climbing coz I turned on the heated at 219.
Most of you guys told me that it's probably a sticking thermostat, air or suspended debris in the system.
So I got myself a new thermostat and installed it, drained the coolant from both the block and the radiator, flushed it with distilled water and put in fresh coolant (30:70 mix). Started the car with the radiator cap off and the heater on full. I was monitoring the temps from the Torque app.
Temp slowly went up to around 185F and then started climbing fast to to 208F, coolant level climbed up and overflowed. A lot came out. My mechanic quickly put the coolant cap back on to stop it from spilling everywhere. So it went out through the overflow horse instead.
Kept idling. Coolant level kept dropping. We kept topping it off with distilled water until the coolant level settled. Turned off the heater and put the AC on. Fan 2 kicked in (the loud one) and the temp stayed at 194F. Turned off the AC just check the temp, temp went up to 206F. Turned the AC back on, temp dropped to 197F. Turned off the AC again and revved it up to 3000RPM for 15 seconds to purge more air out, temp went up to 212F and stayed there. Turning on AC dropped it to 210F, but then it went back up to 212F.
I must add that while we were doing this, my mechanic kept putting the radiator cap back on every few minutes. I don't know why.
As soon as I pulled out of the garage, I floored it a little (shifted at 4000rpm) and got it up to about 25mph. Temp shot up to 217F 2 mins after pulling out of the garage, I stopped at a nearby restaurant to get lunch, and as I was waiting in the car (AC on), the temp slowly climbed to 221F. I immediately got down and went to the front of the car to see if the fans were spinning, and they were! Came back inside, temp was 222F. Turned the car off immediately. And then, weirdly, as i shut the car off, both fans turned off immediately. From what I know, they should stay on when the coolant temp is high. Fearing it'd overheat due to the coolant not circulating, I turned the key to the ON position. The fans turned back on, temp reading was 224F, few seconds later, climbed to 226F. I was peeing my pants
I then started the car back up, temp dropped to 221F. Turned on the heater on full, temp went down fast to 208F. Turned on the AC again, temp slowly climbed to 212F and stayed there throughout the 10 minute journey home.
I have no idea what's going on. I've run out of ideas here.
What worried me was that the fans didn't stay on when I shut the car off at 222F. Also, the loud fan (Fan number 2) did not come on while I was idling at the garage with the AC off. It was at 212F, but Fan 2 didn't kick in. Fan 1, however, was working. Fan 2 ONLY started spinning with the AC on.
What could be the reason for these crazy temp spikes? It's fine for the most part, and then all of a sudden, starts slowly climbing to 220+F
I have created a thread regarding this weird issue. If anyone would like to help, please follow this link.

I saw the the recent post of mazda rx8 extending the warranty on the rx8.... and the mazda public relation spokesman say : We will not walk away from a mazda owner" would this warranty even apply to me if i bought mine at a used Car dealership not a mazda one? I have had my rx8 for 2 years near 90,000 miles now my as of now won't start all the sudden won't crank over i fear the engine is flooded so just wondering?
Also would anyone know what the cost would be to fix a flooded engine if it is indeed flooded?

About 20 minutes of your time if you have basic mechanical knowledge.
Crank over- motor turns over without starting.
Wont crank over- motor does not turn over.

If you do it yourself, next to nothing. I think there's a de-flood procedure sticky'd here. Once de-flooded you will likely need oil/filter change from fuel dilution. Why it flooded is another matter. Many potential causes, anything from bad gas, worn plugs to low compression.

Ken, catch me up here, why is his car warranty period up at 90,000 miles. Is his used car warranty something different from the US/Canada 8yr, 100/000 engine warranty. What year is his car?

Don't know cost. Might call your dealer(s), repair shops. It's not hard to do it yourself: first try the method in the owners manual (if don't have one here's an '04:https://www.mymazda.com/MusaWeb/pdf/...4_owners.pdf); often that doesn't work: A) if you have a manual transmission you can try pushing it down hill, or having it pulled: get some speed put in second, drop clutch, or for less stress on transmission and engine, B) jack up car, put on Jack stand, pull driver's side wheel, take off lower (called Leading) two spark plugs, clean them, pull out the fuse marked EGI in fuse box, crank engine several times for about 7 seconds with 30 seconds between to let starter cool down 'til most of gas sprays out (may discharge battery so be prepared to get a jump), put everything back; if won't start, repeat.
Find out why flooding. May need new coils (if you don't have a BHR or D585 upgrade ignition use "C" coils - N3H1-18-100C, replace at least every 30K miles, some fail earlier), spark plugs, wires; e-shaft sensor fouled (clean w/ electric contact cleaner); engine compression loss (has to be tested with tester made for rotary engine), or possibly other things, but these are most common.
Good luck

You are absolutely right. As a University professor in the Journalism department of Rowan University we see unbelievably bad grammar, spelling etc. which has increased at the same rate as the rate of texting. Folks don't learn proper English and grammar with all the made-up short words and poor excuses for sentences used in texting. Employers for our college interns and for jobs after graduation have commented to the schools that we are turning out folks that can't speak or write in correct sentences and thoughts anymore.

Aww come on g, are you sure those are not all the people who would be illiterate? Now that they have cell phones and text they can read, somewhat.

They somehow made it in a university journalism dept. ,but along the way they have forgotten grammar, spelling and how to actually write a coherent sentence. But boy can they text with new made-up words every day. Many don't read their textbooks anymore and some actually try to get through their courses without ever getting the required books. So I am not surprised, just saddened that this carries over into our forum.

My job requires taking the occasional written statement. Granted I don't deal with the cream of society, but you'd still be shocked at the lack of written communication skill out there. These are people that supposedly have graduated public high school...and frequently beyond. They absolutely cannot put two or more sentences together. And I'm not talking the occasional error. I'm talking about simple spelling errors and lack of any punctuation. Just recently I asked someone to use quotation marks. They didn't know what those were.
My son is deaf, and typically writes as he signs...which is MUCH different than our spoken language. He's still easier to comprehend than many.

Some folks do not even know the three branches of government or what they do.The American family has fallen apart. If there is no family structure any more what makes one wonder why the dumbing down of America is well and working?
The dumbing down of America goes further than just grammar. The dumbing down of America is being helped along by our television , we call it entertainment. All those words that people use texting you refered to are used every day all day on the television. We simply live wrong, our system is wrong.Get used to it.You are now the minority in the world.I always wanted to be an inganeer and now i are one lol.

Moving on... I have a dumb question.
Why do my brakes scream at me when I use them? It only happens at moderate pressure (about what you'd use for casually stopping at a light). It only seems to be coming from the front, maybe only the front left wheel. Looking at the pads there's about 6-7mm left on each side of each pair.
Is it just the compound?
