DSKLF:JOSDFJLKDS:FJDSKLFJ::: that's what i feel about waiting until the end of AUG for my x-interceptor unit!!

BUT, Scott has been working like a race horse, so i give him credit. After talking to him, even w/ stuff non-related to the interceptor unit, he is trying as hard as he can trying to get these initial orders out!!

Scott takes a new meaning behind customer service being at its best, and he is trying desperately to get more feedback from the people that have this unit out. I'm patiently waiting Scott, and i can't wait for it.

I'm kinda dreading my emanage b/c of all the negative crap behind it -- but hopefully, i'll be like FANMAN and have no problems? I reallly don't want to tune this thing so i'll be patient!

Keep up the good work Scott!

efini -- you should be fine for a few weeks with just the emanage. I waited about a month to tune my emanage -- the tuner wanted the turbo and everything to get broken-in (loosened up I guess). The GReddy tune is very conservative (rich -- way too rich most of the time) and boost is set low -- however you will still notice a big difference over NA. Just think of it this way -- you will get double the enjoyment: Stock to GReddy thrill and then emanage to Interceptor-X thrill :D

If you are still having the same problems or anyone with the rough idle and the CZ unit pm me and send a copy of your map. I have not found a CZ yet that I could not fix the idle problem on. It will always have the occasional studder at idle when the rpms get real low, but it should not have the 5K rpm studders etc. Also if you send your maps, please send an AF and timing graph vs RPM. Anyways, sorry for jacking the thread, I don't want people's cars that are running like crap to stay that way.

RXhusker -- thanks for the advice... the reason behind me being scared is that the turbo is already broken-in... It was bought used from RUDY. However, if the turbo was running fine, etc., why would he sell it?? You know?

I brought my turbo to a great rotary mech. and he said that the turbo shows some wear. The spoolingfan (turbine) or whatever it is, was a little shaky, but he says that's normal for a used turbo and that it should be fine.

I hope i don't encounter any problems

you are right man I would have loved to see that car.
anyway --love what yall are doing but please clarify something for me. I am hearing that maybe 210rwhp with your unit/tuning and na engine. Is that a stock engine or one with the usual mods of intake.catback, lite flywheel etc? If it is then is it reasonable to say we could get 230 or so with the mods? if so then there will be a market!

Trust me no amount of changing the maps will help....the unit does not work on some cars.......we tried about 15+ maps.....it is well known some 8's do not repsond well to the CZ.....I gave it back a long time ago.

I know Mazsport has not yet dynoed a n/a car but I'd like to know that as well. Also when do you anticipate dynoing will begin for a n/a car? its coming on a month now...just curious.

More driving time today and the car is well doing very well. More power and extremely driveable. I have not heard it backfire once, in the last two days. That was getting old quick with the Greddy, plus i did not want to reroute the blowoff valve back into the intake. I really enjoy the noise of the blowoff valve to atmosphere :D :D :D Dyno day tomorrow so we will see how that goes I can't wait to see how much power the car has, plus i have some different equip than RXsteven. I have the SR Motorsports pulleys that should be good for 50 horse and torque alone!!!!! :p

No backfiring? That's a good sign. Hope you get some nice numbers since my setup is similiar to yours and I've got my order in for the Interceptor X.

I had a few questions about a few of your mods.
- What spark plugs (brand / heat range) did they install.
- Also, which dash mounted WB O2 sensor did you get. I ordered the LC-1 and XD-1 52mm gauge.

I imagine they'll dyno an N/A when somebody who's still N/A buys an Interceptor and has it installed.

Considering they have been promoting their unit as fully tested being available for sale both for N/A and Turbo they seemed to have put the cart in front of the horse

Of course it can be used on any RX-8

I don't think they originally planned on the N/A being a "cart" they needed to pull with their "horse" -- now that N/A owners are coming out of the woodwork for help it only makes sense to begin working on a tune map for them and doing dyno testing.

The N/A owners greatly out number those with the Greedy turbo set up , so one would have thought it would be a far bigger market for them .

Most owners even N/A ones allways wanted our cars running at an optimum tune , but many N/A OWNERS HAVE FELT THAT SUPERCHARGING IS THE WAY TO GO WITH THIS CAR AND NOT TURBO . :D

I'm very close in purchasing this unit for my N/A at the moment, and then later on, I will be going FI. I think the 210rwhp they state for N/A is a pretty sufficient enough upgrade from our stock 170-180rwhp. I think it would be a noticable difference don't you guys think? Matter of fact, I know some guys who have their Greddy turbo and are barally pushing over 210rwhp. The question that comes to my mind though is that this unit is tuned and mapped for those who have turbos, how will it be adapted to those who are N/A? Will they load a N/A map when it ships out and a Turbo map for when you do get the Turbo you have the base map, or will I need to go into a shop and dyno tune the unit with the N/A and then whenever I do get a turbo, re dyno tune the car.

I can spend me $1800 on this and be the guinie pig for N/A engine, or spend it on my wheels, anyone wanna help me on this decision?

From all of my reading it sounds like they will ship you a custom map that will match your setup (If available). They still encourage everyone to visit their local professional tuning shop to have it fine tuned for your specific mods, but they will get it very close to your setup. It also sounds like if they dont have your setup specs, you will have no other option than to visit the tuner to perfect the map for your specific modifications...

In short though, yes they will supply you a map for a N/A car as well as a FI car, but it will not be perfect unless tuned.

A fancy set of wheels wont give you extra performance and you will get even more frustrated when a Granny in a dull toyota camry beats you of the mark :D

Do a deal and give them your car to test the N/A RX8 for a discount on their asking price .

Then let us all know the results

I am not local with them though, but I will go ahead and talk to him. I live here about 30 minutes by Rotary Extreme, an extremly well known shop here on the forums and they have been working on RX-7's for a long long time. I would most likely have them dyno tune it and I'll keep a journal of any problems and HP ratings and graphs and all that good stuff. If I can gain around 40-50HP just by this ECU, then I would say it's well worth it considering that's how much the Greddy turbo kit is giving people for $3000 compared to the Interceptors ~$2000

Only performance mods that I have is the RP High-Flow cat and Greddy SP2 exhaust, who knows, maybe I'll bite the bullet and be the leader for all the N/A engines out there to follow if all goes well.

Anybody here that is going with the Interceptor using a wideband controller other than the stock setup for tuning?

Nem,

is there a reason you think the stock wideband won't work?

I have played with my friends handheld wideband and found it to be .1-.2 leaner than the stock unit behind the cat.

Just curious

Nope, the stock unit should be OK. More of a curiosity myself with how everyone will be tuning. I was looking for a controller that had a gauge. I have this one on my wish list: The Innovate LC-1 Wideband Controller & XD-1 Programmable Digital Gauge, Bosch 5-wire Wideband 02 Sensor, Bung/Plug Kit, Software CD, and owners manual.

I have been tuning a Blue CZ unit for quite some time now, and I'm torn between upgrading to either the Interceptor or the GReddy Ultimate for my NA setup. Will the Interceptor accept an output from a wideband controller for chasing a certain AFR?

It appears that the Ultimate is giving a lot of setup problems. There seem to be a lot of configuration problems from the new software. I'm sure someone will figure it out...but right now were waiting for Jeff :D
