It's not a very good tuning tool if your turbo'd.

His stock wideband and canscan goes well below 12:1. With my Megasquirt hooked up we watched it go down to 10:1 as I richened up the mixture. Even the stock ecu sends fuel down below 12:1. The factory wideband has a much wider range than some people think it does. If some of them don't it makes me wonder if Mazda changed something at some point.

I took mine out of the box, configured the jumpers and plugged it in.
Worked perfectly the first time. Looks cool too.
Did I miss something?

I'm using the serial canscan but I have the latest flash "R".
Doesn't it defeat the pupose of a having a wideband if it can't go below 12?
were all the original scans with the use of the Canscan and CZ wrong? What does Hymee's device say?

The WBO2S is used by the PCM to maintain A/F's under medium to light load at certain RPMs in the 12.5: range and idle/cruise in the 15:1 range.
When the A/F goes into the 11:1 or richer area, it is in open loop where the WBO2S is not a factor.
I don't know if the WBO2S itself is able to read below 12:1 or not (most likely it can), but the CAN spec doesn't require it, so values below that are ignored.

I think you guys need to stop depending on AFR ratio. Read it in Lambda terms. After comparing my old Canscan and new Canscan software, I have noticed that both versions presented consistent lambda values but very different AFR values. This is because the old one consistently calculate AFR by lambda x 14.71 or 14.63, whichever version. But the new one I had, which was the CZ version, calculated 14.63 in some ranges and differently factor numbers in the lean and rich areas. Very weird!
From now on, I'm targetting a lambda of 0.87 - 0.91.

In the racecar we use a renesis. Our lambda can not be below 93. Target is 94, 95 is too high.

^ Is he saying it never drops below 0.93 or they've tuned it to stay above 0.93 in order to hit the target 0.94?
0.93 is around 13.6:1 in AFR
So, they are targetting a 13.8:1 AFR (0.94). I'm going to have to run with a midpipe with that kind of tuning.

Hello, I am the owner of the silver RX-8 in the video. I have driven the car for many miles under different conditions and can't tell you how much of a change there was between the E-manage and the Interceptor-X. I was lucky because my car ran fairly well with the Emanage, compared to most peoples. I did have the mandatory backfires, 3 ft. blue flames out of the exhaust pipes and stalls at intersections. My car dynoed at the typical 173hp stock, to 234hp with the Emanage.
I can honestly say that the drivability is the same as the stock NA version, with an incredible increase in power. The car is very smooth, but pulls through the entire RPM range. I drive the car in rush hour traffic, and there are no problems in running the car in start and stop gridlock. At low RPMs there is no lurching or transition problems. The temps always stay around 180, even with the AC on and Florida heat. you are under boost quickly, even under mundane driving conditions, under hard throttle the car really launches. The car is fun to drive because you have the best of both worlds.
We want to get some 1/4 mile times to post, and then I am upgrading the turbo and injectors for the next stage.

So 234whp with emanage and 274whp with the interceptor X (both at base boost, correct?) That's an impressive +40whp improvement for just switching the EMS. I can't wait to get mine and have my car run "smooth" again.
Did you run any 1/4 mile times when you had the emanage? My best is 13.9 (with also wheels, hiflow cat, clutch, ...).

I talked to Scott today and he said my car was not dynoed with the E-manage.I thought it was but he said it wasn't. It may have been one of the other Greddy RX-8s at the shop. I didn't run any 1/4 mile times but will now to document the performance.
It is really nice to drive the car.The problem I have is the car is so smooth you don't realize how fast you are going. You are just tooling around, you look at the speedometer, and your way over the speed limit.
