Finally a plug and play ECU!!!

Well fellow Rotorheads, after months of R & D we are ready to release the first plug and play engine management system for The RX-8.

The Interceptor-X EMS developed by Mazsport owner Scott Glassburn is a full fuel and ignition control EMS!

For more information, go to our website @ www.mazsport.net. Click on RX8 ECU upgrade on the home page. There you will find a product overview explaining why we developed the "Interceptor-X" system and a video of a Greddy turbocharged RX-8 on the dyno. The results of more power through better engine control are clearly visable.

Feel free to post quesions or email us with any questions
Enjoy Scott

glad to hear. the video was pretty good, impressive numbers. i think showing the orginial ecu and piggyback from greddy and then putting yours would be really good to show the difference. thats my opinion. but thanks!

Broke_Apex_Seal 08-03-2005 08:25 PM

All looks good. Did you guys have any issue of long term fuel trim pulled out by the factory ecu or do you take full control???? Mind my lack of knowledge on your product:( I may keep my turbo kit if this really works.

another question, how long have you had the greddy kit working with the Interceptor-X EMS to show longtivity. thanks

truemagellen 08-03-2005 08:31 PM

HOLY SHIT BATMAN!

Great news! :D

Broke_Apex_Seal 08-03-2005 08:32 PM

WOW just watched the video Very nice job Scott. My hat is off to you and the guys at mazsport. I think I will pick a unit up.

MazdaManiac 08-03-2005 08:32 PM

It is a full masking pigyback. It pulls injector and timing control for itself.

lazi 08-03-2005 08:35 PM

nice summary on the video . sounds interesting. have u guys done a ecu tuning on a stock rx8? with just bolt ons? no turbo. i would like to know how well it can be fine tuned. and how the numbers come out to be. i would be very interested in purchasing one then. since i would like to go N/A and just fine tune it

Hybrid-RX8 08-03-2005 08:38 PM

The video is certainly interesting. I would to see some REAL specs on this EMS though.

rotarygod 08-03-2005 08:40 PM

This is the exact same way we are wiring up our Megasquirt project! At least I know the concept works. I'm glad to see this on the market.

Looks hopeful....
Nothing is ever inexpensive is it!!!
I'll be interesting to see the real numbers and what your unit can do...
Good luck.

All that and you are in LARGO too. I may have to check your shop out soon.
Good Stuff.

nice.

Let the FI fun begin.

Does it control idle RPM and leading / trailing split

NAVILESRX8 08-03-2005 08:53 PM

wow...definetley on my list of stuff to get when I go turbo...

BaronVonBigmeat 08-03-2005 09:08 PM

The prophecy has been fulfilled! We're coming up on two freakin' years the car has been out, it's about time. Nice work!

watch the video, 10~12 psi on the greddy kit! Can't wait to see what it does on a bigger turbo.

any testing done on a N/A or ported car?

Does this mean DSC still works with this installed?

loube 08-03-2005 10:24 PM

yes and abs too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

colin204 08-03-2005 10:52 PM

does it fit under the stock ecu cover?

The fact that the greddy turbo keeps settling to 5.5 psi, is very interesting.

This ECU looks very promising. I'll definetely check back to see how well its running after some time.

Actually I just noticed something else about that kit. In the description it mentions that there is an optional air temperature sensor that can be used with forced induction to monitor after compressor air temps. I seem to recall my mentioning in the Megasquirt thread that I wanted to do this for forced induction cars as well but I was told I was wrong! Hmmm...... In all fairness it was Richard who told me that idea was wrong but he also assumed that I wanted to move the entire maf after the compressor which simply isn't the case. I just wanted a temp sensor only after it. I wouldn't move the maf.

This sytem really does appear to be done exactly as myself and brillo are attempting to do with Megasquirt. Let the stock ecu control some things, let the new one control others. This is very exciting because it shows our way of doing it does in fact work. Please note that in no way do I consider this competition as I am not developing a product to sell. It is a personal project largely based on the fact that I already own a Megasquirt. We are merely going to tell everyone how to do it with a Megasquirt and what wires to tap into after we figure it all out. It will be up to the individual user to actually build and install their own ecu and many do not want to do this. I am very happy to see Mazsport offer this system. It's time to let the fun begin with tuning on both n/a and nonturbo cars. The question as to what can this engine actually do in both forms can finally be answered. Please no one complain about the price of this unit. It is comparable to other standalone ecu's on the market but the difference is this one is a no brainer as far as ease of installation (and removal) goes. It doesn't get much better than this.

Mazsport, please install and tune this on an n/a engine to satisfy everyone's curiosity when it comes to the power potential and also the gas mileage ability of this engine.

Nice work guys , if you need a test pilot in Australia more than happy to be the test pilot :D

That's because it can't flow enough air to provide much more than this which once again reaffirms the fact that the Greddy is not capable of much more than 300 hp. It does do it's job very well though of providing a nice usable increase in power where a street car needs it. All those people that want more power should look elsewhere. They won't get it here. If you look at the dyno runs, the torque curve is just flat as a board. This car must drive just wonderfully.
