I got to drive my car with the Interceptor-X this evening, it is worlds apart from what i was driving before. Scott is still fine tuning it, but no backfire, good idle, excellent throttle response. More to come soon, hope to have a full report including dyno session by weeks end.

This ecu looks good but it is clearly a Microtech in a custom box and a plug and play harness.
You can tell by the specs and the fact that laptop adapter has 4 memcals for map storage. Only Microtech does this.
The Microtech is a great computer for rotarys and if this unit comes tuned ready to go I think its worth what they are asking for it. Much better than any Emanage or any other interceptor.
Cheers

Loube, did you by chance get a baseline dynorun with the emanage?
Also, what psi is Scott tuning for? 12psi?
What mods do you have?

The Microtech has always had the Handset option. Microtechs have only been able to use PC's to tune them in the last few years.
I tend to use the handset rather than the laptop. Its easier to keep in the glovebox.

Ok sorry if i have confused some people. My car is turboed i did no baseline before the greddy. I did one dyno session right after the greddy install which was originally done by Race Related in St Pete (The same dyno Scott showed in the video). The two runs were in third and fourth 231 hp and 236 hp, torque was around 180lb. My mods are as listed:
Greddy turbo kit
RP cat
Greddy sp2 exhaust
SR Motorsport pulleys
ACT Flywheel and Clutch
I spoke with scott and my test drive yesterday evening was with a base untuned map. That is amazing because the car felt AWESOME and he hasn't even started to fine tune it yet. My car was one of the Greddy RX8 that drove real bad, words cannot describe how bad it was. I'll keep you guys informed.

Unfortunately you won't be able to get that information. Game theory predicts that people who already want to buy the system will bid up the price until it nearly matches your retail price. They have nothing to lose by trying to get it even $5 cheaper via auction.
I think the best way to gauge customer price points is by having three units up for dutch auction with assurances to those already on the waiting list that they will also get the final auction price. This accomplishes two things: it eliminates bidding by people who are already willing to pay full retail, and it would show the highest price point at least three people are willing to pay.
If you had five units up for dutch auction and it didn't go above your starting bid, that would show you still have the price too high for most people.
Note all this does not take into account your COG and profit margins. I'm simply discussing the buyer's side of the supply/demand equation.

you didn't drive it the last few months boy, it got worse. We removed one of the dongles so cold starts were bad and you had to wait like 10 minutes for the car to warm up if not it would stumble bad. Throttle response was bad and it would bog at low RPM. the SR cat broke (as in the element busted up inside and was sideways). It hasn't been roses.

I have also heard through a lttle birdie outside of the forum that this unit is in fact a Microtech. Microtech has written code for the RX-8 trigger wheel as well. This was confirmed. It all sure fits together as this being one. Nothing wrong with that. It's a great unit and lots of people have used them on rotaries.

I have read everything on this thread... and i'm getting this unit soon but i have to make sure of some things so maybe you guys can help me out:
I understand that this unit is play and play, but not plug and play and go play...
with that said:
Will the emanage not be used and instead this is plugged into the ECU?
Are the settings for the greddy turbo set at 12psi, so i'll need a boost controller to boost up to 12psi?
To use this unit as simply a "plug and play and go play," given my mods are the greddy turbo, RP supercat (bonez cat), borla exhaust, what will my numbers approximate to?
thanks for your help guys.

yes

no, stock the greddy is 5.5 psi. a boost controller is needed

For question number 2, i mean... will the INTERCEPTOR-X EMS be tuned for the 12psi setting, or will it be tuned for the setting to be at 5.5psi?
For question number 3, what will my HP/TQ number approximate to given my mods and given the tuning is set for the greddy turbo and i will have my boost controller...
The reason i ask about the 12psi... is, here are one of their answers to a question.
"All The Interceptor-X Systems will come with the closest map to your application as possible. The current GReddy map has been pushed beyond 8psi into 12- 12.5 range."
So will that mean that the greddy map for the interceptor-x be set for a 12-12.5psi boost?

Just to confirm, YES! Scott of Mazport and The owner of MicroTech have been working on "The Interceptor-X EMS" for quite some time.
I have proudly and openly stated I have been working in conjunction with another party. After years of working on and with MicroTech and their products, it really was a very logical decision. We have not been trying to make a little box of chips but rather a reliable, user friendly, plug and play engine management "solution" that everyone seems to want and need. Of course this is NOT an off the shelf MicroTech product available to the open public but, a propriatary system tailored for the RX-8 and based on years of building and tuning Mazda rotary powered vehicles. We have granted the consumers request to resolve a major weak link in the pursuit of a more powerful RX-8. We have approached it head-on and have chosen proven technology to ensure success.
