Just a small dose of "Buyer's Remorse".
We all get that from time to time when we drop a chunk of change on something seemingly esoteric.

Normally I'm not like that. Unlike the other parts I have ordered and can understand, a computer is out of my league right now. The only reason why it seems like I kept going back and forth is because of the people who claimed to know what was going on and whether I needed a computer upgrade or not. I had people on both sides telling me that it is / isn't worth it. Thanks to Jeff's no return policy, it resolved the question in my head. :D

Now I'm just waiting for it to see what happens.

Well, that shouldn't have been the deciding factor!
I would have preferred that you had a good understanding of what the AccessPORT is going to do for you before you pulled the trigger!

That said, there really isn't another mod you can get for the RX-8 that is a better way to spend your money.

With over a thousand units in the field, I have yet to have a customer tell me that a custom calibration had no positive effect on the operation of their vehicle.

Angel,
I'm sure you will be more than satisfied, I bought the AP and tuning, unfortunately a few days after receiving the AP, my motor lunched itself. **** happens.
While the car was running, I did get to play with the AP and found it useful in monitoring certain parameters and masking the O2 cel just in time for my emissions test.
I wasn't paying out on you, just poking fun.

There is a bug in the calibrations that is tied to the newest firmware that may cause the AccessPORT to become unstable, lock up in the monitor mode and/or cause the calibration to be incorrectly loaded into the PCM.
This seems to only affect the North American and European calibration, but please feel free to contact me for an update no matter what your location is if you are still on a "v4.0.0" calibration.
Those with "v4.0.1" and higher needn't worry as your calibration should already be updated, especially if you received your most recent file within the last 3 months.

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
Jeff could I possibly get a link to or a copy of the updated base calibration to use during the break in period for my reman/clutch/flywheel? The v4.0.0 calibration I have is the old version.

Best bet is to jump into one of the live tuning sessions. They follow the schedule posted HERE.

Otherwise, you can send an e-mail to ap@mazdamaniac . com (take out the spaces).

[QUOTE=MazdaManiac;4143579]
You placed your order on September 24th, 2011. On October 8th, you requested a refund.
It was explained to you at that time that your window for cancelling the order had already passed and, as per the agreement that you clicked-through to place the order, there are no refunds or returns.
That said, when your shipping window came around on, I sent you an e-mail indicating that if another European order came in, I would substitute that new customer's order for yours and issue a refund.
On the 9th, I issued a refund, but you initiated a charge-back before the funds could hit your account,. This stopped Google from giving your money back until the charge-back could be resolved.
I provided Google with all of the documentation of your purchase - including the refund order - but now you were facing a 30-day hold because of your action.
On the 7th of December (two days BEFORE you made this post), Google released your funds.

@Mazdamaniac

Quick question Jeff, to what extent of variation between AFR's would it take for you to note a problem with lets say a fuel pump? I know the OEM can barely keep up with high loads and I'm suspecting my fuel pump is starting to die. I noticed on one log I only could hit 8.4k on my rpms. If you didn't lower my rpm limiter than I must have had an issue that night that didn't allow me to hit 9k. I'm going to do a few logs tonight and tomorrow then be online Tuesday night and I'm hoping you can look at my logs.

I'm ordering a new Aero pump from BHR regardless this week but I'm hoping that it wont drastically affect my tune and have to start over because it had been tuned to accommodate a failing fuel pump.

Unfortunate to see after all this time people still don't get how this all works. If $600 is a lot of money to you then I question your priorities of spending it on your car.

This is a great mod and Jeff is a great tuner. You just need to get him in your zipcode, or go to his, and join a dyno day if you want to get things done in a timely fashion.

I can usually spot dropping fuel pressure immediately or by the next iteration.

These days, with the real-time live tuning sessions, it is a bit like having a personal dyno day. I have some customers that run successive logs in one session. Sometimes I can get the entire calibration process done in one session.

Hmmmm...we'll then mabe fuel pressure isn't my problem then, look's like I have some more searching to do. Car stalled the other day after getting gas, then ran to redline, came to a stop at a light, then just stalled out. Started back up just fine but I've had two other random times that it nearlly stalled again. There doesn't seem to be a pattern either, and no misfires or CELs.

Time to start checking things out under the hood tomarrow starting with my plugs then. I'm still getting the aero pump as a precaution, I'd rather not have my car stall on a hard left turn on a autocross day.

Thanks, I'll catch you online the next session.

I just received a used cobb AP. and I was wondering since it's used and had a previous owner, and I don't know if he used MM tuning or not. Will I still be able to have the benefit of the MM tuning?
current mods: AEM intake.

The calibrations from the previous owner are non-transferable.

You can subscribe to the MazdaManiac Custom Calibration Service here.

Depends on what you "need".

Do you expect to use it to make more power? Do you intend to tune it yourself?

Have you made sure that the original owner has un-installed the unit from their car before they sell it to you?

cobb newb question

Yes I've used search, I find its a littled limited using the search with the mobile version.
So I just bought a used cobb AP, I'm worried cus when I opened the box there was no paperwork, just obd2 dongle, usb mini, AP, and some plastic pieces(mounting clips Ill figure out)
The AP has something loose in it I can hear jiggling around the inside of the device.
I want to hook it up to verify it works but I cannot seem to find a link for initial set up for a first time user.
Any help...
Thanx

Just plug it into your OBDII port and see if it fires up. If it does it will give you instructions on what to do to set it up.
