Cobb AccessPORT Discussion
Might have missed something, but what exactly determines what MAF correction each car needs? Is it the condition of the MAF sensor, specifics of the intake, or what? Just curious as after "flooding" my engine (not with gas), and messing around with the intake the fuel trims are different than before. I know we don't need to worry about the trims to a degree, but just curious.

MazdaManiac, I recently purchased a Cobb AccessPort from a different vendor. I see you provide calibrations for vehicle specific applications. If I were to order custom calibrations from you how long does it usually take for them to come my way?
thanks
thanks
What are your mods?
Sounds great man. First thing monday morning I'll hop on here and send a payment your way.
as far as mods I have...
-Greddy turbo kit
-HKS racing suction filter
-HKS boost controller
-HKS grounding kit
-HKS Legamax catback
-Racing Beat mid pipe
...I'm really looking forward to this. Aside from that I see you offer an upgrade kit aswell for the turbo kit...sounds intriguing!

Have anyone done any calculations as to how much more oil you use with this map? As I checked mine today and it was almost at low, and I had an oilchange two weeks ago :| Didn't think I had driven that much either, but I guess I've driven 700 kms, hehe. Better go and buy a couple of boxes as I've used what I had.
MM,
Got the new cal and installed. Car seems better and smoother, but I did log it and am currently creating graph. I will hopefully be able to get you that and the info you requested by tomorrow evening. Thanks!!

Some housekeeping
If you do not see your name on the list below, then I have not received your response to the e-mail sent out on 7/8/08 or you responded incorrectly (didn't attach the current calibration, didn't fill out the questionnaire, didn't provide requested info, changed the subject line of the e-mail, etc.).
You must respond to that e-mail if you want continued support of your AccessPORT calibrations.
This list is barely 20% of the people that have my calibration set, so it is worrisome to me that so many of you are missing.
I know that I have had communications with some of you that are NOT on this list.
I recommend that you send me your responses again.
There are a dozen or so people that will be receiving the e-mail for the first time in a few days, so don't worry if you are not on this list if you have purchased your AccessPORT within that past two weeks.

MM, i'll reply tonight just so you can organize, but i wont be asking you about calibrations again until i'm sending you $ for a whole different kind of calibration
Dynos are all over the place, literally and figuratively.
Basically, the AccessPORT is a "harmony" mod.
If you are fortunate to have one of the engine/PCM combinations that runs lean and oils correctly (and doesn't run too hot), the AccessPORT will add very little power over just the AEM intake and a CAT-less midpipe.
Very few people are that fortunate, however.
If you have the typical RX-8 that runs around 11:1 at WOT, adding the AccessPORT after the midpipe can yield over 20 HP.

) But how can you NOT make more HP if the REV LIMITER is raised to lets say to 8500 for the 4 port AT's? Does'nt the AP change the power curve thorugh-out the power band? For me I am willing to give up gas mileage for Horse Power!
^ I have mine raised to 8250 at the moment. It pulls strong from 6200 until the new redline. I don't know if it's making more HP or not. Haven't had a dyno session yet. All I know is that it pulls that last 2000 rpm pretty quickly. A lot more quickly that the prior 2000 rpm band.
MM:
I haven't attached the map because I need to recliabrate it since I don't know which map I'm running, nor do I have a datalog of it. Is that okay? I sent a reply explaining that I don't have a datalogger yet when I first got the email, but I wish to be enrolled in the service! I have a data logger on the way!
However I will be away and not able to play with my car for the next week or so so I hope that is okay.
