Yeah, we're doing about 100 MPH there and I started punching it over and over again. Started to make my passenger sick.
There was some crazy lightning going on in the distance at the same time.
I'll put together a better video later.

better video including lightning? Used to live in houston so always had storms, but now that I'm in san antonio for college, just seeing any rain is special, let alone a nice storm... one of the things I miss most about houston. I've tried catching pictures of lighting the last few times we've had storms, but out of at least 100 pics, only 2 or 3 had anything worth keeping.

something a bit more on topic: ordered an efidude last night and it shipped out today... hoping it will be worth it. I'm guessing I'll need to just take screenshots of the graphs from their software when I send the info?

Also, this might have been covered (kind of being covered in another thread, but this one is more on topic), but wondering how accurate the fuel economy readings are. I know there could be slight inaccuracies in the actual speed etc, but from what I can gather, it shouldnt be too far off and the ability to measure/monitor the fuel flow should be rather accurate... So is it accurate enough to kind of round off, or is it only good for giving a very very general idea?

quick edit: I do realize I could just check the actual mileage next time I fill up, but I'm too lazy to actually see how it compares to the AP's measure since I'd have to factor in the percent that each average (per time I drive) is worth in the total amount driven... or at least I think that's what I'd have to calculate. It made sense when I was thinking about it 2 seconds ago but just got tired and had a brain fart.

The AP uses the OBDII instantaneous and averaged fuel economy calculations which are questionable at best.
They are based on load vs. MAF flow, so they are a guess using math.
Really, if you are using the AP to monitor fuel economy, you have misplaced priorities I think.

Basically, the AccessPORT is a "harmony" mod.
If you are fortunate to have one of the engine/PCM combinations that runs lean and oils correctly (and doesn't run too hot), the AccessPORT will add very little power over just the AEM intake and a CAT-less midpipe.
Very few people are that fortunate, however.
If you have the typical RX-8 that runs around 11:1 at WOT, adding the AccessPORT after the midpipe can yield over 20 HP.
So you can't just make any RX-8 gain 20HP from an AP and midpipe?

Some people dyno 170, others dyno 190. If your car already makes more power, you can't make more power on top of that. There is a limit to how much power an engine can make. And making additional power is done by fuel and timing. So like Jeff said, if your pcm is already doing it, the AP can't do it again to increase the gains. Otherwise people would just keep leaning the fuel till no fuel is injected and make a billion horsepower.

mmm and if you're one of the lucky ones with a midpipe and make 162.4 hp and 123.24 tq, you should definitely get the ap, cuz it makes it drive like a brand new car. then get the coils fixed, cuz that will probably add 20 hp.

I don't need ignition - just MAF, RPM, load and lambda.

Jeff, I need to talk to you when you get some time; can you call or PM me a time and date to talk for like 30 minutes?

I think it is time for the ordering of the AP...

Noon is good. You guys are 3 hours behind PDT? I don't know why I was thinking it was only 2 hours.

You finally posted the video huuh. Cool. FyerBallz

There is actually about 6 minutes of video total. But we'll just let Jeff edit out the bad and keep the good.

Do I really sound like that?

We have no daylight savings time - so we are either 2 or 3 depending on time of year.

So that means we are always 3 hours apart.

We are technically Mountain time here Jeff. So it would be 2 hours apart.

But we are synchronized to PST right now.
So, if we are 3 hours apart now and we both stay on our current time standard, we would still be 3 hours apart when everyone else goes back to standard time.
We aren't on Mountain time, either. Its just plain Arizona time.
We are synchronized to Mountain time when DST ends.

Hey Jeff, et al

I installed and briefly ran my updated map tonight but I didnt have a chance to do any significant logging as I'm down in TN with a couple of our kids visiting my parents.

I'm back home Monday night and will hopefully have some updated data Tuesday evening. From what I saw briefly tonight, my WOT AFR in 2nd is up into the 12 range now but the one run in 3rd was still in the 11s. All very preliminary ... my map flashes require ECU resets to clear a CEL so it's probably best I run a couple days anyway to get some decent drive cycles in.

I've got a bunch of highway only fuel economy data I've been collecting over the past couple weeks traveling between PA and TN. I've gotten as high as 325 miles to a tank @ approx 25mpg. I'll be posting that data soon too. City mpg is still in the dumps but I'm not surprised. This car does best sustained at 80 mph.

lol, I was just messing around with all the neat little features since it's still kinda new to me. Used it for 2 drives (10-15 min). One showed up as like 13 mpg and the other was 23 mpg... both with regular driving so figured it was kind of off.

Usually watching AFR and check the LTFT from time to time just to see where that's settling at.
