Would it be helpful for us to get our injectors balanced and cleaned like this?

I installed the latest iteration on my map from you and there was some movement but it's still under your targets. I sent you the datalog of my 2nd gear run back to back with the original map I was using.

Shaun, I thought the benefits of decent injector servicing was evidenced during my rebuild(?). My trims seem to have a MUCH easier time establishing themselves and the car has run smoother than it did before the rebuild. I would suggest the cleaning/balancing service whether from RC or from MM's preferred place.

Yeah that's where I first heard about it. And I agree it looked like a good idea. I didn't know if it was affecting MM's ability to accurately tune our engines once we hit the right fuel trim target or not though.

This may be something all AP owners should get done but I didn't want to imply that without hearing back if it will actually help the tuning process or not. Intuitively I think it would be I don't want to speak for Jeff.

I have no problem speaking for Jeff as I do it much more nicely, anyway.

In looking at how my trims are always damned close to zero, I assume that makes the job easier for the PCM since it has a little more potential headroom for variance. The biggest benefit comes from having better front/rear housing A/F balance and that, fershure, makes the target ratios "easier" to hit. Besides, when you know the conditions of the injectors it makes diagnosis of problems a llittle easier for us should they arise.

It is not a bad idea, though if the pairs are relatively equal, figuring out the proper scaling isn't a big deal.
So far, I've been scaling the primaries in about 30% of the applications I've sent out. They are usually a dozen cc or so bigger than spec.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Especially about balancing between the two rotors since we don't have an O2 sensor for each one and can't really tune them separately. The closer they are to each other the better we can optimize the whole motor.

Geez how do those piston guys get anything out of their motors with having so many chambers to compensate for?

while we're talking about data logging, anyone tried out this stuff?

60 and 52mm gauges, with lcd faces, so you can design it to look and do anything you want.

It just looks like a vacuum leak from here.

- - CAUTION! RANT ALERT! - -

You mean to tell me that I've been spending many hours trying to track down a phantom vacuum leak for NOTHING!?!

J/K....it was a.....good.....experience. I learned a lot about the car. Before all of this I didn't know how to take off the entire upper and lower intake extension manifolds, check the solenoids/actuators both physically (vacuum) and electrically at the ECU wiring harness and fusebox. I also didn't have the 1/4" and 3/8" swivels or the various extensions that are almost essential for getting at the two bolts on the backside of the UIM.

I say "almost essential" because I was able to squeeze my hand in there with a 1/4" ratchet and loosen them one click at a time the first time I took it apart. The second time I took it all off I knew better and was able to get it done in a fraction of the time.

Ok, I'm done venting. I feel better now

But seriously.....I don't care as long as my issues are fixed. I'll get you an updated data log after my appointment at the stealership next Monday.

BTW, just for clarification. I didn't mean any dis-respect in my last post. I know how difficult it is to troubleshoot a problem remotely. I'm sure my issues would have been diagnosed correctly if it had been done in person as opposed to over the internet. I'm just a little frustrated over the whole thing.

Don't be worried or upset.
You did everything right.
I promise to you - as I do to everyone - that you will be running right.

I'm not upset. I'm too relaxed to be upset about this. It was a good learning experience after all. I'm just a bit frustrated because of the amount of time I've spent and not seen any improvement at all.

If I had a nickle for every minute I spent chasing phantoms, I'd have, well...
A sh*t-load of nickles, I'll tell you what.

I figured the list was big and I didn't want to sound like a broken record, not to mention I'm sure you're busy with all kinds of other things. Thanks for the update

When you do get to mine, I did send you some screen shots from my datalogger, but I'm trying to work those into excel to see them better, so maybe I'll be able to send you a better rep of my log.

I love the part.............. 39mph to 115 39 seconds

We can let you get to 39mph then start from a stop and whop your *** in 16.5 seconds or faster.

I believe that's why they call one the high power and the other the low power... Also, keep in mind that I'm intentionally starting off VERY low RPM wise in the gear so that I capture the full range. I don't typically shift to 3rd gear, for example, at 2000 RPM...

I had a very fast car in my 20s and I reached a painful conclusion, both financially and responsibly... Shell and super fast cars do not mix and it took well over 10 years for me venture back into the sports market... I'm very happy with my little 4AT, thank you very much

So before you lay back into me , do so with my 1st and 2nd gear data in plain view so that I feel fully belittled.

If I misinterpreted your comments, then please ignore my rambling... move along... nutin to see here...

Heya Jeff.

I have a question..., due to a certain situation, I need an AccessPORT rather quickly (before 18th of August), but I can't buy anything from you till ~7th August.

How long would it take for an AccessPORT to arrive at my door? Zip is 47906.

If your STFT is +4 IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE CAR WARM AFTER A REFLASH, load 2a and be done with it.
Never look at your fuel trims again - they will just drive you crazy.

Really, any fuel trim under +/-12% is totally no big deal!
