OK so the story goes like this.

I come home from Sevenstock and everything is fine park the car and go to bed. The next day I do not drive anywhere in my car. Monday morning when I take my daughter to school my car has an abnormally hard start and makes a strange squeek sound. Leaving the apartment the engine lerks forward twice as bad as it usually does (when the 2 additionals ports open) in the cold monrings. When I pull away from the first light it feels like I am in 3rd gear...strange, I thought so I rev it some (high revs) like I am clearing its throat and at the next stop sign it does it again. This time the radio is off and I can hear some water swashing sounds when i pull away. Next stop sign it is still doing it so I pull over and pop the hood to look for any sort of porblem. The car feel as if it is starting in 3 gear from a stop every time, almost like it is draging something. So I drive just a bit farther to drop my daughter off and then call mazda.

Mazda sugestest to take it in (tow it). I call I Casey and Keith to get some additional opinions while waitng for the tow truck. First trunk get there (from mazd roadside service and it is a tow trunk and not a flat bed. Well with my low car and the rims and everything I dont want him to tow it to Romero so I call AAA. I specifically tell them I need a falt bed (you would think Mazda would now this when they ask about about the model). It shows up about 35 mins later and I take it to Romero.

I am now it a nice dark blue Mazda 3 (almost got a Mazda6) from Hertz rental, (Romero recently switched form Enterpirse who had god aweful rental cars.) Any way later today I find out I have a bad spark plug cable (spark plugs were replaced at the recal) and I have a coolent leak somewhere internal becasue my parking spot is not dirty and nor is teh engine. They will test the car tomorrow for the coolent leak. Most likely it will be something not so bad or a new engine says the Mazda guy. If it is an extended repair I will ask for a better rental car even though this is a great rental car from my past experinaces. I believe all the repairs will be under warrenty, altough i will confrim tis tomorrow as well. Romero has also been incontact with Mazda (higher up) to get a better understanding of the possible repairs.

Wish me luck...my car just barely made it to Sevenstock, thank you.

timing can be a friend...at times. So, should I take mine down tomorrow for the recall, so your car has someone it knows to talk to...?

Hey guys, I just got a call from one of my teammates who has been planning this weekend's autocross practice. We're short on people, and they specifically asked me to come on here and beg everyone to come racing on Saturday and / or Sunday.

The event flyer is on www.solo2.com , it's at the El Toro marine airbase in Irvine.

To give some extra incentive, I'm going to give a group discount rate. The entry fee is $70, but if you can bring a group of 5, I'll take $5 off per person. If you can bring a group of 10, I'll take $10 off per person. If you can somehow muster a group of 15, I've got to cut it off there.

Also, there are a bunch of regular autocrossers who have already paid full price, so I'd like to keep this relatively quiet so they don't feel ripped off: please don't mention the discount at the event.

Any questions, please PM me.

Probably not interested in running my car, but I'd be willing to come down and do some ride-alongs or give pointers if any of you guys want to try autox for the first time. El Toro is a great site and usually has fun courses.

I'll go if others will commit. I would rather go Saturday than Sunday...but I'm flexible. I would like to put a half day on the tires. I need to play around with psi a little.

Cesar?
Loren?
Denward?
Gerry?
Sherry?
Jorge?
Jason (MP5)....would come if others commit
Casey (you should split the day with Michelle...both could get practice).

There are plenty of us to make it a fun day...anyone?

i'm having the thermostatic expansion valve in my ac/ heater blower replaced this saturday am, cuz the builder in my brand new building is a chinese crook! and, sunday am i'm scheduled to work from 10am-2pm. so, i might have a problem going- unless it's sat pm. out of curiousity, how much wear does one day of auto-x put on stock proenza tires or any tires in general anyways? at some point, i do want to get a set of separate tires & join u guys. i'm just being good right now. property taxes suck ***!

As for Saturday: I might show up just to watch but won't be running my car out on the track.

Gerry, the way that the event is run, you don't really but a lot of wear on your tires....the only thing you are in jeopardy of is heating the tires up too far and they get a weird coating on them. You would just need to cool the tires down if they start to gain too much pressure. We take a water can with us to spray down the tires.

It is an all day thing mostly....show up ealry in the morning...like 730/800 and register/tech...have like 8 or 10 runs before lunch, break, and another 8-10 after lunch. If you can't make it out on Saturday, maybe we could get more interest going on Sunday?

I'm sure Scotty needs to know who is interested, so he can hold us the spots..
