the OMP is just an electric stepper motor and controlling them via Haltech is not an issue. Its a very simple set up and allows you to control how much the pump puts out.

This is the case for all the rotaries before the s2. This car has 2 electronic metering pumps that are completely different.
Figuring out how they work before deciding what Haltec's output to use would be smart imho.
I'm not bashing your idea, it's actually great...I'm just giving a little heads up for what may be an issue

Yes, I realize there are 2 pumps. They are both controlled via voltage from the stock ECU. I cannot see how I cannot control them w/ the PS1000.

Mazdatrix has been working on a few different things including a turbo kit, but no tuning options. I assume the standalone route is the only option for that. I talked to Kyle Mohan a little at a formula D event and he mentioned a 3 and 4 rotor eccentric shaft in the works, but no mention of it on their site and I was never given a time frame. He just said they're working on a prototype and they aren't close yet.

Did they pick up shaft from Jeff Bruce or are they trying to fab one themselves? This is no easy task.

Definetely will let everyone know, but the main issue is getting my car to him since he's in Ok and i'm in Ohio. More than likely i'll wait til i'm ready to turbo it and just do it all at once. Doesn't make much sense to bring it back and forth a few times , just get it done all at once .... and unfortunately the weather is about to turn nasty here in ohio.

If I were looking to source odd Japanese connectors, this is the guy I would call.

from what I understand, they are making their own form the ground up, but Kyle wouldn't say much about it. (Probably distracted with qualifying/ practice and/or there isn't much to say about it)

Ok everyone i'm gonna have to wait until spring after the weather breaks .... too much of a risk to drive the car out that far this time of year. So, if no one has taken up Rip it on his offer by spring, prob around april, I'll drive the car out to him and take on this venture

I just got my S2 and I had been reading all these ECU threads months before I got it so yeah I am a little depressed at the options available but I still have hope... lol.

Anyway I just came from a 135i =)

WHOA. I am at the point that the 135i is my front runner once I find the right car/price.

What are your thoughts on the comparison? Was your 1er tuned--They can make stupid power with just a flash or piggyback, as I'm sure you know.

It's actually really interesting to have someone here that has gone the opposite way that i see myself going ( Rx8 <--->135i)SIMPLY because of the lack of support and general apathy about the S2 rx8 in the performance aftermarket...

I drove the 135i during a dry track day......the amount of understeer present was enough to make me not want that car. I drove the same 135i during another wet track day, the torque and advan neova tire combination made for a very annoying time putting the power down.

The reviewers have all commented about the bad understeer in the BMW 1-series (not counting the 1M Coupe). I have to think it could be fixed with tire choices, anti-roll bars, and/or spring/damper changes.

Not to deviate from the point of the thread, BUT--We all agree, wait--almost the whole automotive world agrees that the 8 handles like a dream, with great feedback, etc, etc, blah blah.

It's almost like 8 owners keep sayin "but, but, it has really good handling dang it"

It is still realtively weak/slow and has Chit gas mileage--bad combo. Hence the point of all of us following this thread.

Depends if u want something fast out of the box or if you're willing to take on some hardships to make it fast.

Anyway, still disappointed the dynotronics was unable to do anything with the S2 ECU. I've read reviews on the interwebz about them and it seems that, while successful with some models, they've failed miserably with others, and also have bad customer service when ECU's fail.

Looks like modified standalones in piggyback configuration is the most feasible solution, short of a miracle happening and someone releasing a flash tuner.
