Inside EMOP #2..

These 3 Pics are the insides of Mazda's all new S2 EMOP's (Number 2).

The #2 EMOP delivers Oil to the 4 Outer Oil Injectors in S2 Engines, same location as S1, S2 also use an all new different injector nozzle.

First Pic shows EMOP opened, Black Solenoid to the left, small round plate, and EMOP Body with the 4 small Plungers.

Next is the Solenoid's base plate/sealing plate (I forgot to put in above pic),
This time I removed two of four small spring loaded plungers that just sit in the EMOP Body.

Next Pic shows the small round plate that sits over the 4 plungers, Solenoid is screwed down by 4 phillips head screws, black O Ring seals unit.

Operation..

This is a very simply made devise but very well engineered.

Engines OIL Pump maintains Oil Pressure inside these EMOP's bodies between 7 and 20 PSI.

When PCM (ECU) signals solenoids the single plunger in center of each solenoid pushes down on the center of the small round plate which at the same time pushed the 4 small plungers down to open pathway for Oil at Pressure to pass through to metal Injector Pipes and Nozzles which are connected at the bottom of the EMOP Body (two threaded fittings on opposite ends).

The two large black capped barb Fittings are for one OIL Supply IN under Oil Pump Pressure Via OCV located on Front Engine cover, and one Oil Supply OUT to the other #1 EMOP which supplies the Two Middle Oil Nozzles..

The #1 EMOP has an Oil IN and Oil Out barb Fittings which returns Oil back through to Oil Filler Neck and down to Oil Pan.

Simple Really..

I don't think so. This is just another case of mechanical ingenuity being replaced by electrical simplicity. Someone burned a lot of midnight oil to design the S1 pump. In my opinion it is the most ingenious electro-mechanical device on the vehicle.
@ASH8
-The cavity between the two large bolt holes - is this actually the oil supply for the #2 EMOP, or does it also receive it's oil supply from the nipples?
-OCV - what is that (Oil Control Valve?)?

Oil enters through the Middle (black cap) fitting and floods the inside of the EMOP at pressure,Oil goes out of "other" Black Cap fitting to supply #1 EMOP.

You can see the cavities around the diameter of the round top, 3 large ones and two smaller holes.

Oil Circuit is Oil Coolers, Oil Filter, OCV, #2 EMOP 4 rotor nipples, #1 EMOP 2 rotor nipples, Return Oil Filler pipe.
