Getting Idemitsu is pretty difficult in Canada, and shipping it up here brings it to the same price.

I would stick with the known products that have been used successfully - Idemitsu, RL, Amsoil, RP - others can be a crap shoot as you will not know how well they work or if they will kill your cat with the additives.

77:1 is 10 oz to 6 gallons.
I do about 200:1, which is 8oz to 13 gallons of gas.
Neither of those numbers considered that amount injected by the OMP.
Rick Engman suggest 100:1 as a maximum.
wonder if they found these increases in hp at lower ratios as well . I guess they would have tested various ratios before making this claim ?????

Yeah, the way the claim is stated, it sounds like they varied the oil value up and down until it normalized power output.

It is worthwhile to note that I have upped my dosage to 10 oz per 14 gallons or about 180:1 (not including the OMP amount) and have seen an even further increase in idle vacuum.

Are you running RP 2-cycle?

Are you catless?

Idemitsu Rotary Pre-Mix oil.
No CAT, but CATs and oil are cheap, motor swaps are expensive.

Those girls are waaaay too young looking. BTW, I second the stick with what we know works. Experimenting can get pricey.

can't find Idemitsu but a motrocycle shop down the road has Amsoil . However not the saber one that people here seem to like . Had choice between the "Dominator" 50:1 racing mix or the HP Injector and found this chart but still not sure which would be better - anyone have a clue ? Planning to use only on track days ......

Saber Professional is the 4th one down in the list.

I use Idemitsu, but Saber Pro is an excellent choice as well

Well the guy rang the Amsoil importer (who does not bring in the Saber Pro ) and he say the racing one is the best "for racing" which is what I want it for so thats what I'm going with for now.

As long as you do not have a cat - racing versions can have additives that will kill you cat quickly if you have one.

So after reading so much about premixing, I've decided to start doing it myself and bought some idemitsu premix. Quick question though........ do you add the premix before refueling, after filling the tank, or does it not really matter.

thanks and sorry for the ignorant question! This is my first rotary powered car and im learning more and more everyday!!

You would want to put it in early, so it could be mixed by the filling action. Too late will send it to the bottom in a "lump".

I put two gallons of fuel in before the oil. A couple of times the pump is empty/out of service, if you dump the oil in then find the pump won't work, you would have to drive on a really rich mixture.....

Eventually, anything will mix, but optimally you would want it mixed by the incoming fuel..

If the tank is full and you pour in straight two-stroke oil, it will go straight to the bottom and stay there for quite a while.

please read my long post on the "OMP adjustment" thread under the Major HP thread. I finally dissected a pump and got to the actual filter. I firmly believe now that premix will accelerate filter occulsion. Not saying dont do it, what i am saying is that the out put of your fuel pump is going to be affected sooner or later.
let the discussion begen.

As noted in the other thread, I had my pump out on Thursday night and it was pristine.
I've been pre-mixing pretty heavily for a while now.

But what is it in the 2 stroke oil that will accelerate oil filter clogging? The base oil itself or the additives in it?

I pulled the fuel pumps out of my car yesterday to install the Mazsport upgrade. Both pumps had no major fuel filter darkening..and the socks were pristine.

I still think you guys get crap gas down there

I think it is a confluence of things. I don't think it is 2-cycle oil in particular.

ok i took this a step futher. I went to a local man here for a second opinion.
I showed him the parts etc. This is what he said.
1-- i have never seen one of those damn things!
2- the filter itself really didnt look that bad
3- the sock didnt look bad at all
So he did a crude visual leak down on the sock and fuel filter medium. The sock was good, the filter was slower than what he thought it should be BUT he said he was not an expert pn RX8 filters.
Now this guy wanted to remain nameless but he has lots of experience with car systems. Street and racing. His thoughts where this.
He said many cars with the all in one module that includes a small container in which it keeps gas around the pump have problems with dirty gas. The sediment in the dirty gas tend to settle in these small areas/containers. This he speculates would be more of an issue with pre mixed gas. The sediment plus oily gas is "staying " around the pump more and eventually finding its way into the pump causing damage. Since the filter in this module is AFTER the pump then he thought the pump itself is the culprit. This would support Bill's findings earlier this year after measuring my symptomatic pump output(down approx 30%.)
Guess we are getting dirty gas in Georgia.
