Looking at the parts prices...the nice brackets..the wiring harness...the thinking to make it work...I wouldn't waste my time making it myself for the price that Mazsport sells this upgrade for.

No joke...just the brackets alone are worth the little extra...

Secure mounting is always a good thing...

Simple answer...its because they were all like...

Other than the fact that most people were not pushing over the 300hp mark. So it was not needed.

I was going to do the Bosch/ Microtech thing...until I talked to Scott...and he told me the price he was charging for this

Didn't see much point after that......

Even the price seems fair for what we are getting.
If we wouldn't want to improve on something then why do we mod our cars...

No, Charles I mentioned the components to better understand the upgrade. As to why it was such a mystery.

Scott does a great job with his enhancements, I don't question that as he has a decent track record with customers and his components.

I wouldn't have an Int-X or the cooling mod if he didn't.

I don't want to come across as being defensive, I have got no personal gain in this. Just a satisfied customer.

Assuming the parts listed above are the parts used in this kit, you're looking at
$130 for ignition system
$60x4 for coils.
$100+? for custom spark wires
That's $470, then custom harness for oem coils to new system, then custom brackets for ignition and coils.

Looks like you'd be losing money making it on your own
Your right... if a person had to pay retail.

Anyway, I find it pointless to argue further on this topic with you.
heh its all relative...

my time is worth more then the "lowest" per hour rate of $100 per hr...

but then again...some people sell themselves for $20 per hr...

for some of them...it makes sense...

its all about the variables in your equation...and thus...all relative...

some will justify the costs as "learning"...fine...

i do not need to learn anything new...and thus its cheaper for me to buy a solution and be done with it...

no sense in wasting my time on that noise...

Good thing that I love working on the car...otherwise the engine swap and all the other crap I've been building would be really expensive

I can't wait to get it done and post some pictures

I support Mazsport's Ignition solution. There is no need to "back door" their company.

They have put everything together, at a good price, he is a name you can trust, and you know it was all put together properly. Furthermore, the RX-8 has waited for this solution for years and it's here thanks to Mazsport.

Thank you for your feedback, and keep it coming....

The list you have on this site is inaccurate for the orders that have shipped. We are shipping them in the order that they were placed which includes outside sales, rx8club.com sales and International sales. We have sent out over 25 of the Ignition Solutions currently and are filling the waiting orders as fast as humanly possible.

We would like to thank those who have purchased this product and are at the cutting edge of development as we continue to create performance products for the RX8. We have increased our staff in an effort to speed up production as well. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

If you have any questions regarding technical support or you order you can email us at sales@mazsport.net.

I have a question. How long are these coils supposed to last and if one goes out is it another $600 again?

This kit is not only an definate upgrade(who all has actually seen a spark test on the oem ignition--its orange/yellow/blue!), it is absoulutely beautiful in its design. I am glad i have them mounted out front as my fi kit allows this.

I would imagine that they would offer the coils by themselves for replacement.

Longevity of the coils is a good question. Have any failed yet?

Another question I have is of the Microtech igniter. Will it wear out like the coils?

When upgrading the ignition system, this is a common side effect especially under boost/heavy load at high rpm, because the car was tuned to run with a weak spark.

Usually it's leaner by 0.1 - 0.5 AFR, if your old ignition system was really bad, you might be up to 1 AFR leaner.
which is why i'd like to know if for NA purposes where the gains shown are coming from... better ignition, or just higher AFR's which the ecu will adjust for over time

That is a good point Jason.
