Hoss -05's build thread
Looks great! The parts flow well together!
Now going wingless FTW!
I don't care for the MS rear either. I have the MS front and sides.
I might have to copy this for my WWP.... If you don't mind

You know it's funny man, driving back from the shop on the highway I noticed you can actually feel the difference with the MS. You can feel it sort of pushing the car around, I am curious if anyone else ha s noticed that or if it's just me..

I still have a bunch of detail work before I start posting a bunch of pics. All my emblems and wing mazda speed hardware are getting a coating of black chrome and a clear bra is going on along with the exhaust.
Hoss.........saw your post over on the PLX site.
Didn't read this whole thread, but you still looking to extend your DM-200 cable? I assume it's the cable to the OLED display?
If so.........might be able to assist.
I did at one time cut one of mine completely in half, and put it back together. It was time consuming and tedious, but I know it can be done. PLX said no way you are gonna put it back together and I did, so I know you can probably extent it the amount you were thinking of.
I might be willing to do it for you(or make the attempt) if you are still needing it and willing.
I have two in the car and the cut/spliced on is back in my car and been fully function for over a year.

Yeah I would like to give it another try.... one of the guys at guys @ PLX PMed me and confirmed I was correct with the extension cable and even sent me a link to a site that sold the proper cable. I can forward this to you if you would like.
I am fairly sure It would work as it sits currently after my last "repair" on it..... Just dont have the length for it to reach into the glove box. I need to pick up one of those special extension cables to confirm. The key to the cable is that it has a pin 9 and a full ground on the connector body.
When you did your splice did your crimp the cables back together? I could not get solider to stick to those tiny wires for the life of me and have tried a few different methods including some Very trick solider past and a micro torch. Currently the wires are twisted together and knotted with a nice copper patch for the ground plane. All insulated and taped up with good ole 3M lucky #33 tape.

I was able to solder each and every wire, I actually heat shrunk each and every wire as well. Then after taking care of all the shielding, I then double heat shrunk the whole damn thing.
You can paste the link here if you like and I'll take a look.
Where is your splice or cut.........How close to either connector?
I had a picture of mine somewhere, but can't seem to fond it at the moment.
You can read a little bit more about my adventure back on the PLX site, but there's not a lot of info there. I posted in a one or two of your threads as well.

The install has been delayed for many reasons. Mostly because I need to be home to do the install and never anticipated being here for this long. I am now currently working on a new engine package and will have more info after the builder and I work some details out.

Hey Team, Glad you chimed in. Whats your thoughts on thermal coatings and heat management with a none OEM header?
It was my plan to fashion some sort of heat shield and maybe coat the inside of the header with a thermal coating.
It was my plan to fashion some sort of heat shield and maybe coat the inside of the header with a thermal coating.
if you're going to do it that is the way, but the problem is I don't know of any reputable coaters who will do the inside (like Swain, etc.). There plenty of the crap coatings guys who will do it, but you are just wasting your money. Exterior coatings trap the heat in the metal and I don't recommend it for this reason - had mine blasted off last year and just use a blanket shield to help keep the heat from radiating on the intake, etc.
I have to redo my blanket shield soon, will take a few pics so you can see how I do it
