Check out what he said

Except that doesn't make any sense if you have a scavenge pump and it is both plumbed and operating properly. You did tell him you have this, right?

Yeah man you are completely over worrying this..... brand new engine is gonna smoke... no matter what engine it is. And how many people have you heard of witha scavenger pump on a greddy turbo.... I doubt you will need a restrictor

I think bumblebeerx8 is right and that I need a check valve on the return side. I will pick one up today.

So you introduced a complex system that is prone to grief and aggravation to do a job that everyone else just uses gravity to achieve ?

^ hehe... and besides 9k, if you blow a turbo than you can custom mount a flange to a garret BB and let me know how it goes so I don't have to lead the way on this one.... of coarse all behind Jeff but you know what I mean :D

Didn't we already establish that the smoke was white and not caused by oil?

Just drive it around. If the smoke goes away, then you can stop worrying. If it blows up, you'll know something is wrong.

The car is running fine now and my scavenge pump is working perfectly I don't need the restrictor, the addition of the check valve and routing the breather hose at the filler neck to the intake fixed it. I have to run the scavenge pump because the drain is at an angle so I don't have much gravity to help me. The scavenge pump is setup and ran with a check valve that cracks at .5 PSI, this way I don't have to worry about oil backing up into the turbo.

The smoke went away after about 45 minutes I ditched the catch can and routed the hose to the intake and extended the MAF wiring.

I lengthened the MAF wiring and everything seems to be good. I did get a code for a stuck APV but I reset the ECU and it went away. I will have my son help me put the hood back on tomorrow (no help today to do it) and finish up my gauges and some other electrical stuff this weekend and then I will load Kane's base tune and data log.

But why? I cleaned and inspected everything prior to install, the APV is clean as a whistle.

I will load Kane's base tune tonight and finish up the turbo timer install, oil temp gauge, and boost gauge setup. Oh, and get the hood on so I can drive this bitch!

I have determined that an exhaust fan in the garage might be a good idea

Yeah, an exhaust fan would be good...

Glad to hear she's done and in excellent shape. Wish I had the fuzzies (and know how) to take on a build like this.

For now I'll just have to read the cool threads.

I have done a few engine swaps/turbo installs in my lifetime and this was by far the most time consuming. But mainly because it was on a car with 127,000 miles so I had to fix and replace a ton of stuff.

once my car is completely finished I will start a new thread that summarizes my experience. But basically there are a few lessons learned and as usual I made things harder than they needed to be but hopefully those decisions pay off in performance. I am expecting to put down some pretty good numbers, we will see.

I'm sure you'll get some serious numbers. Hell after all the **** you replaced and cleaned, you'd probably get close to that NA. Good luck bro.

My porting cut into those apv valves quite a bit, though I'm not sure hows it related I did want to test it out...

here is a short vid I took at 2am in the dark with my cell phone If you have a seizure watching it I am not responsible. I started it again after resetting the computer and the misfire codes and APV codes went away. Not sure what was going, I think she just needs to be driven.

Hopefully you lubed everything properly before inserting them as per the service manual

Thanks man, I wish the BOV wasn't where it is but it already had the flange welded to the pipe so I didn't have much choice on that. I have some wiring to clean up and secure and then I will get some proper pics.
