I completely agree - this is the right way to do things.
However cynical it may be, I don't expect it.

I expect to be treated like sh*t. This is the corporate way.

My only expectation of a manufacturer is to build a car that I like. After that, it is up to me.

The auto industry has built this expectation in the client base that the car is a consumable and that people should expect service and support. This is marketing.
All the manufacturer really wants is your money and they operate by volume. A couple thousand pissed off buyers is no big deal. It is just like Wal-Mart or any other high-volume retailer.
If every single RX-8 purchaser was a vocal complainer, it might make a dent in their bottom line, but they are not. This forum is but a sample and only a fraction of us are pissed to begin with. Think of how small that is.

The omission of RX-8 data from the marketing feedback data is a drop in the bucket. They make their cake on the 3, the 5 and the 6. They just want to bolster their numbers any way they can within the law.

Get past the idea that any sort of "compassion" on the part of corporate has anything to do with actually satisfying customers.

I happen to agree with this, but this itself proves why so many 8 owners are upset. It has nothing to do with the car or any Mazda product, but the fact that a company will do what it does because it's in thier best financial interests to do so. So when dealerships who have bonus money based on good/bad service reports no longer have any incentive to provide good service to rx8 owners because it no longer affects thier financial interests.

I'm under no illusion that Mazda is the only company doing this, they all do this to some extent, but when you have other companies offering cheaper cars and getting better service, proving that you can have good service and make money.

You may think it funny that some here would decide to not buy another Mazda based on service, but they are just making the same sound financial decision that spending 30K on a car and getting crappy service is not worth it with so much competition out there, the same financial decision Mazda made when they threw out our service scores.

You may think it's an idle threat but there are lots of auto makers out there and most only get one chance. I had a dodge stratus when they first came out. It was a first year car and had problems, but I didn't care as long as it was fixed. Well, 3 years into the car which was still under warrenty, I had a known problem that required me to pay for the fix, even though it was under warrenty and it was a known defective componant. I paid for the repair, after much argument, traded the car in and haven't bought another chrysler product in 12 years. It wasn't the car that caused me to not buy another chrysler, it was the service.

Apparently many other previous owners would agree as Mazda's 23% retention rate is the worst in the industry. It's more important to me how a company fixes the cars when they break, then the car breaking. Everything breaks...

I want to remind you that the two jokers in the video are also the ones talking to congress regurlarly about reducing their liability to you.

And to reduce their penson costs, and to allow more air or water emissions, etc.

And to prevent miminmum wage hikes.

How do you feel about them now?

American businessmen make it a practice to push things as far they will go. Things cannot possibly stay as they are and have them stay in business. I mean really!

I hope Mazda Corporate is providing some balance. Otherwise it will be up to us...and GM and Ford are feeling that now.

Did you guys/gals see "Thank You for Smoking"?

It is a fantastic satire that really gives a feel for what the big corporate environment is all about.

actually that would be incorrect. I just find it funny that as soon as someone has an experiance that they post here about, somehow miracously you have THE SAME EXACT THING happen to you. Someone gets a call from Mazda, 10 minutes later YOU get a call from Mazda. Someone has squeaky brakes, some how you find a Ferrari owner, who by doesn't want to talk to you anyway, and HE has squeaky brakes! Gas is stolen in the Portland area, HOLY WOW, you are tasering a HUGE guy on your front lawn who is stealing gas for his Hummer.

Ever think about maybe just STFU'ing and just read?

Maybe?

Gee, I posted about my phone call from Mazda before anyone else said they got one, but I suppose you don't bother to read either. Take your own advice *******!

Seems your only contribution to anything lately has been "STFU" whenever someone posts anything. Perhaps you should remove that giant stick from your *** in an attempt to improve your personality.

I'm just beginning to find it highly amusing that you post replies to my posts to tell me that nobody cares what I say. If so, then I guess they can just ignore me, but they certainly don't waste their time by sharing it with everyone.

Edit: By the way, there is an ignore button. It might save you the trouble of having to "remind" me that nobody cares because then you wouldn't have to acknowlege my existence and get your tighties in a bunch.

Oh I won't ignore you, it's way funnier to see the remarkable BS that you post, I would miss such hilarity like the Taser thread and we can't forget the entire thread of you considering prostitution just to afford your car.

Cheers!

Otherside - feeling like you're about to see a train wreck & unable to look away? Maybe you can convince Mazda to have dealers ask what the 8 owners rx8club name is b4 deciding if they want to bother providing good service. Anything to curb the f8ckin' whining . . .

BlueRenesis82 - way to stay on topic. Brilliant.

A 1994 RX7, at least in Europe, was much more expensive than a RX-8 (considering the increase in living), and one in decent shape is not easy to find.

I cant believe someone..... Just posted something like this...

"I would much rather have a car that breaks regularly and get great PERSONAL service from my dealer...

Than a car that does not break as much and get shabby PERSONAL service....

ARE YOU FOR REAL.....

Personally, I would much rather have a car like the RX-8 with few ACTUAL faults or problems, so I don't have to go to my Dealership, than the opposite...

IF I get a rude or bad tempered staff member at the time...we all have our bad days...would poorer service stop me from owning a trouble free car.....no way!

Movers and shakers do not get where they are by sitting in the corner and letting THE MAN tell him/her how life is going to be. Anyone *CAN* complain or accept; MNAO *CAN* choose to listen or ignore. But at least we have a choice.

If everyone just sat back and let "the powers that be" do their thing without any type of complaint ... America would not exist.

America became what it is because of its innovation and hard work to solve problems - not by sitting around and bitching until someone else solves their problems for them
