also, enkei rpf-1s are on the top of my mod's to do list. according to this site (and it does sound about right) 18x8.5 wheels weigh 18.3 pounds. i think the stock rims weigh 23lbs, which is pretty light afaik. still, thats 5 pounds per rim. thats 20 pounds of rotational mass removed from your car. and again, afaik, thats equivalent to removing 100lbs from the inside of the car. lighter car = faster car. and then, when you track it, take the out the rear seats and you just removed another 50lbs total.

i was told, as a beginner driver, driving an rx8. i wont exceed the car. the biggest upgrade that i can readily see would be grippier tires. of course, that is pretty much track exclusive.

i <3 rpf1. they are light and cheap, and good looking. when it comes to wheels, you cant do much better.

 

Here's some advice from experience. I did the RPF1 route w/275 Falkens and really it doesn't make much difference (looks nice thou!) performance wise w/otherwise stock car (I had sways only). Actually it slows down top speed. The suspension work will make a realative huge difference in the car feel...tighter, sharper, more aggressive. If you're bound and determined to spend on stuff, 2k of suspension is way way better than 2k of wheels tires.

i vote for eibach front and rear sways...inexpensive and a mod you can do yourself..

 

unless you have some outstanding bills that need to be paid, put it up just in case something bad happens. Then you will have money to lean back on.

 

Depends on your age and financial situation. If your under 25 and financialy secure I say spend it all. You have plenty of time to save. Now if your having money issues save it all. The older you get the less time you have to make up for stupid mistakes.

Put it into a 401K. If you don't have one, nows a good time to start. Plus you can take it off your taxes.

 

i have stable income, i already have a pretty good amount in my 401k, and i can do all the installs myself. i was thinking about guages, but i want a complete kit for them.

 

if $2K is a lot of money for you, i wouldn't be spending it. this is money that they are telling you that you deserve for long term pain. guess what, long term pain treatment is going to cost a lot more than $2K. i'm in agreement with razz.

EDIT: it should also be noted that my opinion is one of a 28 year old, father of two, and i'm cheap so take it for what it's worth. i know your situation is going to be different but you asked for opinions.

well its not a lot, i know that, but it is a pretty good amount to just pop up. its going into a savings til i figure out for sure what i want to do with it

 

looks like i missed a page when reading and since you seem to be doing okay and don't mind blowing it then it all depends on whether you want looks or help on the track. i'd say stick to the coilovers since it looks like you track it.

includes gauges. it just kinda installs in a slightly stupid place. of course, its a completely unused place if you arent a smoker.

 

It's all about digital guages in the RB pod. I heard some really cool guy even made a DIY thread on it.

$2000?? Take 1,000 and invest it to make somewhat of a return off of it. And just buy aftermarket stuff with the other $1,000. Nevermind, just buy a plasma TV, or a Russian mail order wife. lmao
