Open up a Roth IRA and put it in there. I know it seems like it sucks, but you'll thank me in the long run. Put as much as you can by law in there every year.

Id recommend putting that money into savings, I mean speaking realistically, these cars arent holding value at all; youll never get that money back. Chet, your 8 already has awesome mods and is sweet, I would just leave it at that and spend that money elsewhere, thats my opinion though, do what makes you happy

In the short term put it in the bank. (It will always be there if you need it.) If properly invested, your 2 grand can be 3 grand in two years and more with a little time. You may even wish to invest it in the company you are working for. Their return has be 190% over the last four years. Just do mods as you can aford them from your regular paycheck. Windfalls should be invested. Just my 2cents

ok, for all of you that were asking what happened with the forklift i will share the story.
Dec 5th, 2006: what i did at my job was build pallets of soda. we would take 12 packs or 24 packs and build up pallets of what kind is on the order. well i went to pull down a pallet that a 3 ton forklift just brought, and the forklift was right behind me and as a went to step backwards the forklift started going forwards. then he ran over my heel. when the wheel was half way over my heel i jerked it out and smashed my head on the roll cage. i was knocked out and fell to the ground. then it was off to the hospital.
i know that 2 grand isnt that much, i make $18 an hour working 40-50 hours a week. but its a decent amount to just get a check for it out of the blue.
if i make the decision to blow it, what would you guys recommend. i was thinking sways, springs, dampers, water pump, flywheel, or wheels/tires

Track Days - amongst all the crap you can get and say "Is that all there is?" after a few days with the crap stuff, you'll be back to who you are ( or were). At least with track days you'll have smiles, memories, some new friends perhaps, and maybe pics/vids, heck maybe even some skills you didn't have before.
Stuff won't satiate your inner child anywhere near as well. Oh yea and then you can have lots of to get the day's work outa ur system.

Like I said about savings - if you're talking about a 5% interest savings account, it's not even worth it.

Virtually no car holds it's value. Depreciation is a fact of cars. Unless you've got some collector's ferrari or some limited edition whatever, you're going to lose your *** when you deal with cars. The way you have to write mods off, is that it's a hobby. Then it doesn't need to pay it back.

Well, you said you have $2,000. The Koni Yellows are around $600 for 4 with shipping. You then need springs. Budget for $200 or so for springs, depending on your choice. So around $800-$850 for the Koni's and springs.
You still have $1200 left over or so, that isn't really enough to get a decent set of wheels and tires. Tires alone almost cost $800 for a good set.
Now, if you buy my BOV for only $225, you still have over $1775 left over!!!!! Best deal around!
