sooo, i got paid, a lot
Man, that kinda sucks. I don't know if part of it was somehow your fault or something, but I would hope they would give way more than that.
I tell everyone that it's good to have a few grand in cash that's quickly accessible (i.e. - not in a CD or something) for a rainy day. After that start investing long term or maybe buy something.

Sorry to hijak Chet but just wanted to ask Valpac,
I see you have RB springs and sways. I have Eibach springs and want to get the RB sways. Do you know if there are any negative issues with having springs and sways? I thought I read a post saying there was something messed up with that. But lots of folks have both springs/sways right? No effect on alignment but good for cornering etc. correct?

Are there really that many people who can't handle their finances?? Why do you need a financial advisor for? I have a friend who is one and I thought they would be doing something special but basically it was budgeting...He was telling me how much car I could afford but I knew that already...
I'd recommend to anyone that they read at least one book - "Personal Finance for Dummies" by Eric Tyson. I just picked it up on a lark when I graduated from college - by far the best 15 bucks I ever spent. It made a world of difference for me.
Another good one just on investing is "Common Sense on Mutual Funds" by Jack Bogle.
I'm 19 and I know how to manage my finances. $100 dollars a week for myself, if I run out then I'm screwed. I always put half my paycheck into my savings. And the rest into my checking account for bills
i overdrew my checking account a few weeks ago. the bank was so surprised (i have overdraw protection though, no biggie) so i quickly wired 5g into it.

according to my gf, i am slightly irresponsible when it comes to money.
