Oil Cooler Kit Inquiry

Anybody have any more info or try this kit before over the stock coolers, figured might as well splurge the extra 400 bucks over just upgrading my lines and get this kit instead as it seemed there was some controversy over the stock tstate in the factory setup.

Performance Oil Cooler Kit by RX-8 Performance | RX8Performance.com

Any info is appreciated

1) The only two reliability mods which are significantly easier with the engine out are the oil pressure pellet mod and the water pump upgrade. When was this new water pump issued? And is their a way to tell if you already have one without removing it?

It's not that hard to remove, only messy. Do it when you flush and change your coolant.

If it's anything like the 13b in the fc it should be cakewalk, but I changed my fluid already later last year along with all my coolant hoses.

Hey guys,

Quick fuel line question, I have been looking around for a braided fuel line kit and have come up with no results except for on from Esmeril racing that comes with there entire upgrade kit(injectors, 300lph pump, regulator, and AN braided lines) now does anyone know of just a line upgrade kit as im only running an NA motor i dont really need the other upgrades right now. If i did get the entire kit as I dont know much about the fuel system would I have to get a retune to go with the upgraded pump and injectors or would the stock map work?

Thanks

Also if anyone has any info on the oil cooler post above id appreciate it.

Several Dumb Questions

I'm the recent owner of 07 Rx8 stock:

What type of oil should i use and how often should I add?

Definitely want a body kit, rear spoiler and mods for performance, but where to go. (I'm a Philly guy)!

Borla exhaust..versus Racing beat...which one gives the best growl for buck?

Any idea on prices, though i'm not overly concerned.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought my RX8 this week. The previous owner mentioned to me that he always used synthetic mobil1 5w-30 oil for his oil changes. I heard recently that the synthetic doesn't burn as easily and can gunk up the apex seals causing the engine failures mentioned in the thread. Is this false information or should I continue to use the synthetic. I've heard it's not a good idea to switch from sythetic to conventional anyway so I'm feeling stuck.

Edit
Just found my answers, I'm going back to conventional...

"Dino vs synthetic is another hot topic, with the main arguement revolving around if the strength of the synthetic is worth the cost, and if there is any better burning (or not better burning) than dino oils, and if any deposits are left behind that could increase engine wear. Mazda only recommends non-synthetic, but does not require it. Your decision."

"And yes, all weights of oils mix with all other weights of oils, roughly averaging the numbers. Half 5w20 and half 5w40 is roughly 5w30, for example. Not precisely, but close enough. Dino also mixes entirely fine with synthetic."

Also does this forum have an introduction thread for newbies? ie back story showoff car etc.

1) Oil Type: Whatever you want .. honestly it's like telling someone what religion to believe in or not even.
No really I'm serious. You are going to have to pick what you feel is correct.

2) Body kit and appearance stuff -- again do what you like.

3) Performance Mods -- Not much in the NA world but I would recommend Blackhaloracing or Race Roots .. there are others do a search
first on them and if they deliver on time.

4) Exhaust ... too personal. Borla is louder IMO but I prefer the RB .. but thats me

5) More than 300 less than a 1000

air-sould, search the forum for topics relating oil. Everyone has their own opinion on what you should use. Here is the first link that poped up when I searched.

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...se-rx8-236825/

Also for most all boltons you can find reviews. You won't gain any signifigant performance (hp wise) with out goin to forced induction or nitrous.

Great info and direction thanks. with regards to mods and performance. I would just buy what I think I would want and take it to any auto body shop? or are there specific places for that stuff? I think I have found a few body kits worth buying and had my eye on a greddy air intake as well as borla exhaust, but have been hesitant to buy without some more advice or guidance. Didnt want the stuff and no idea on how to put it on

Only intakes you'll get people recommending around here are:

- Stay Stock
- AEM/MazdaSpeed Intake
- RB Intake with Ram Duct

Can Anyone confirm N3H1-14-631A as being the part # for the oil injectors? I'm looking to rebuild my oil system and went to the dealer to get the part numbers, but the parts girl was new and she didn't look too sure about it. I'm also skeptical because they're called "BOLT CONNECTORS"???

Thoughts on necessity of an oil catch can for an 06 model? Search shows different plumbing than the 04-05s, which may make a catch can unnecessary. Am i correct on this?

Does the answer change if the car is turbo'd?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about 1st question , I do think the Mazda changes worked but can't confirm .
If you turboed - the mazda system definitely wont work . So you need a catch can in that scenario for sure .

Question just asking a dumb question

Hey guys, quick, maybe a stupid question. But i have an 04 sports package with fogs and GPS, good car. But it's an auto, i want a 6 speed 8 but i can't find any with the same features. I was thinking about getting a tranny swap on it. Would it be a good idea, or should i just dump it and get any 8 withthe 6 speed? Comments?

just get a different 8. The auto motor is a 4 port as where the manual is a 6 port.
