Thought so. Figured the only way would be as blow-by. Which, given the number and sizes of sealing surfaces in the engine, is probably a fair bit...

Back seat removal

So if you wanted to remove back seat to access gas tank just for future reference does the bottom come out first or ?? They like the pull hard clips or?

Oh, sorry for not being more specific, I'm kinda a music snob so i hate everything in the radio so i would like to listen to stuff on my phone, and its been almost 10 years since I bought a physical cd so that's out of the question too.

So I need bluetooth adapter and I need to know the firmware to make sure it works with the one I buy!

S1 or S2?

For S1, GTA car kits have Bluetooth adapter you can install in your car.

For S2, just use a cable in the AUX port, or grab a cheap Bluetooth to AUX adapter.

Injector cleaner additives

Would a injection additive help in anyway to prevent carbon and gunk buildup in a 4 port s1?

^ Probably not. A certain film of carbon builds up so fast in these engines, that anything removed will reform very quickly. Best thing to do is run name brand or top tier premium gas. Gasoline is the source of most of the carbon. High detergent content gas may slow it down somewhat.

I only run top tier gas in my RX8. Many popular gas brands have earned top tier, so you don't really have to pay more or search hard to find and use it.

^ Yeah. Top Tier has really been a boon for consumers. I buy a lot of Costco gas, because I live near one and work near another one. We also have a lot of Quick Trip stations in my area. No longer required to pay premium prices for Shell, Exxon, Texaco, etc. to get a good detergent package.

Another exclusive Top Tier Gas user here. Shell is my go-to. If I can't find one, then Exxon or Mobil. Any other Top Tier Gas station as a fallback.

A good injector cleaner would also help reduce deposits if used regularly. Two problems:

1. It gets expensive, and
2. Too much can be counterproductive.

You can use it if you think you have a problem that it might solve, but it's not something to lean on long-term.

Better to just stick to Top Tier Gas with the correct octane rating from heavily trafficked stations, use decent oil and change it regularly, avoid idling and short trips, wind it out when you can, and keep up with maintenance (especially ignition).

Headlight washer covers. Any one know how to remove the covers without pulling bumper and removing whole washer unit . ?? 2 philips screws on back of cover but looks like they could twist pull apart for cleaning

CEL blinking and rotten egg smell on startup yesterday

So, i just bought a new truck and am picking it up Thursday and my 8 decided to do this. I started it yesterday and it had a slow roughy start and then was very low throttle started lightly shaking and the cel started flashing and when solid and flashed again. Then i smelled sort of rotten eggs I’ve started it twice since then and is shaky when putting throttle down I’m to worried to drive it and i have like a week left since winter is almost here i really do not want to tow it again since that’s been done everytime it doesn’t start I’m not able to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated i was planning on selling it to help pay for the truck and now we’ll im SOL.

The rotten egg smell indicates either a dead or dying cat(alytic converter).

This is probably caused by dead/dying coils you have, which are also causing the flashing CEL and shaking you are having.

Replace the coils(totally DIY-able) and inspect the cat at once before you do more damage or even cause a fire. No joking here.

Plenty of videos on YouTube. Here is one with spark plug replacement as well(which, if your coils are dying, I would also recommend changing out):

I can't say how much dealerships will charge you. Some greedy ones charge a grand with parts. Check with your dealer for a quote and see if they will let you bring your own parts. Mazmart has some great prices, and that's with the exchange rate, shipping and possible duty all considered. If you source your spark plugs in Canada, you will likely spend CAN$50 each, and that's from 3 sources(local Mazda dealer, NAPA and ClubPlug). If you don't have time, then expect to pay a premium for all the parts, and for a job like this, I doubt dealerships will be able to make an appointment before you pick up your truck.

MAZMART - Serving The Mazda Community Since 1980 | New & Used Mazda Parts | Mazda Performance & Racing parts | Mazda Performance Upgrades. RX8 Ignition

Seriously, I would ask around and see if you have good buddies who have a garage that you can use.

that seems easy enough to do but i would be doing it outside. Is the best option to just order the whole kit wih coils plugs and wires or just get the coils i had my plugs replaced probably last year.

Only one way to find out: pull the plugs and have a look.

That said, I suspect the spark plugs are probably fouled as your coils weren't firing.

So order the kit with all 3 and just replace them all i don't wanna spend a hour taking it all apart to check coils and plugs. Or could it actually be something else that i should be checking

You also want to check your catalytic converter. You want to take it off and look to see if the honeycomb is clogged.

If you are selling the car, you will also want a compression test as any knowledgeable buyer will want to see the compression numbers.

Flashing CELs are misfires.
You can change all of your ignition components, but if you're catalytic converter is clogged, you can still get misfires.
You need to inspect the cat, and if it's bad, you can gut it until you're able to replace it, or delete it.
Misfires kill cats, bad cats kill engines.

So i just wanna do a rundown of what i should do sorry if this is annoying but i just need a solid answer. I will go through everything quick. I installed the secondary air flow pump a week ago because my CEL was on for it could that have effected my cat from blowing build up into it im not sure how it works exactly i know its for heating up the cat? in the cold? But my dilemma is i have to store this car for the winter do i need to fix it now (will it get worse if i let it sit winter) or can i store it then fix it during the summer because i have no where to work on it except in the driveway outside and its already -10. Just need some answers on what i should do because i need to sell my 8 and if i take it to the dealer i may as well junk it.

Mac-H. Where in Canada are you? Someone might be close enough to assist or recommend a good shop to use.
