I'm not sure if either:

1. I don't actually have a CD player despite having all the appropriate buttons etc
2. I have one and it's broken/jammed
3. ??could there be a CD changer in the boot I cannot find? if so why is there a hole on the dash for a CD and also I've tried looking fora compartment to hide one in the boot but cannot find one??
if you have a 6 player unit there is a load button...you push it and the unit loads the disc. It will continue to load until it is full ( 6 discs)

If it is empty you won't get anything out with the eject button

Otherwise it is broken

You might want to download the User manual for the car from Mazda...it covers the functioning of the radio unit

^ What he said. You have to push and hold the LOAD button until it prompts you to insert the CD(s).

And so yes, the loaded CDs sit behind that slot - there's no separate "CD magazine" that loads from the trunk.

Anyone successfully ever completely removed rust from rotors?

Brake rotors? You could have them resurfaced. If you mean the hub and not the friction surface I would just toss them on a lathe and shave the rust off.

Downloaded the manual to read that section (my own one is somewhere in my boot but the unpacking involved in finding it would have been a huge undertaking).

What I noticed is that following the instructions doesn't work:

When I press CD the large 'CD 'text showing me the unit is in CD mode shows. After a while this disappears. 'CD in' is shown in the top right. Pressing 'Disp' shows the disk 1 through to 6 option'....think the 6 track changer is there ok.....

Two curious things though:

1. Even although it says CD in I cannot insert a CD - the machine doesn't gobble it up and something blocks me from pushing it in.

2. Pressing and pressing and holding the load button seems to have no effect whatsoever. I don't even hear a beep....

Wondering if there's something wrong with the unit....Thoughts? Jam or something? have read horror stories about having to disassemble the whole unit to solve things like that?

Radiator hoses

I'm in the middle of doing a radiator replacement and my old hoses are getting kind of gnarly. Wanted to replace them with red silicone hoses for the radiator and the radiator reservoir. Googled a million and 1 places and can't find them anywhere. Found one through an online store called option, but the listing they had was apparently incorrect and they no longer have it in stock. Can anyone help me find the 6-piece set for a 2006 in red?

Yeah, if pressing the load button doesn't work, then it's probably broken.
Unless there are CDs in it already.
*edit* bumped an old CD player thread with a diagnostic procedure for you.
Easy search found it.

I don't know where to find silicone hoses, but good ole rubber is good for 10 years or so and won't collapse on you like silicone sometimes will. It also has the benefits of being inexpensive and easy to find.

From the rain? I just drive it. After using the brakes a few times, it should be gone.

Too many different models for me to be confident I'm finding the right version.... Checked the subforum and cannot find the bumped thread you're referring to - was it in another subsection? if so which one?

Thanks again for your help all. Get this sinking feeling I'll just have to write it off as broken....

Had thought about changing to an in dash tablet but I have the auto air con which i'm told it is hard not to sacrafice and I want my volume buttons on the steering wheel to keep working.

It depends on how deep the rust is. If we are talking light rust, it can be done, but it is labor intensive. For my time and money, and considering how inexpensive aftermarket blank rotors are, I would just replace them.

^Most of the better aftermarket rotors come with a zinc coating that keep them looking nice for a long time.

I dont know I seen some videos online where people use lemon juice or vinegar to remove rust.

That sounds like light rust. Naval Jelly will remove it. You will need to paint the area after treatment with a high temperature paint that will eventually burn off, leaving the area to rust again.

I primed mine with flat black BBQ grill paint, then used caliper spray paint.
It's holding up well.

Where exactly is the air pump relay located? I have a P0410 and need to pass emissions. I want to check the relay first before pulling out the whole pump.

It's actually in the ECU box.

Here you go: SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION

This might be a stupid question but how much does Mazda charge to do an inspection? I know someone that said its the law that they cant over charge one on that. Like everyone who has a car checked out whether they go to Mazda or a private mechanic its like $30-40 bucks.

So.. the dealership "fixed" my Mazda but is it natural to feel the car shaking when at a stop light? Anyone have any idea?

Just bought it and now I'm curious as to this Rev I'm hearing about on here. I've built hundreds of muscle and tuner cars but the rotary is a whole different animal.
