^^ thanks. I have the wallet card i believe. It's big, rectangular, and flat. Looks like the same device listed for the NC miata of that file you linked.

Aside from the request switch on the door handles, or manually pressing the lock and unlock functions on the same device, my only other way to gain access or usability to my car is the little auxilary key inside the very same device.

So, essentially i only got one working keyset, though it offers both modes of entry/ignition.

Should i be upset? I would call the dealer but it was just a used car lot, so I dont think they will have much to say worthwhile on the matter

Agreed, the used car dealer will probably blow you off.

I recommend figuring out exactly which switchblade FCC ID number you need, ordering two FOB + blank uncut key off ebay, then calling around to locksmiths around you to see who has the Mazda reprogramming hardware. Most locksmiths buy 1-4 brands worth of key programming hardware sets, and they all know which other local locksmiths have what brands. They undercut the dealer prices hugely, usually $20-$40 to cut and reprogram keys you bring them vs the dealer's price of more like $150 for each key and $100-$250 to program them. So call around, you probably won't need more than 2 phone calls. Then have the locksmith cut and program your new keys and you will be good to go for fairly cheap.

^^ alright thanks for the info my friend. Much appreciated. A bit of an annoyance on the start of this journey but i'll deal with it.

Otherwise I'm Loving the car so far. I've never driven a rotary before and I am thoroughly impressed! This car has the perfect balance of luxury, style, performance, and practicality. Until it blows up on me XD

My 2008 40th anniversary edition RX8 bought new got two advanced wallet sized electronic keys with a pull-out standard keys inside each electronic key. So technically you had four keys, two physical keys and two electronic keys. It was different in earlier RX8 model years. I think the Series 2 starting in 2009 continued the electronic wallet sized keys with the standard keys inside.

I have never owned a new car that came with more than two car keys. So if you wanted more you had to order more. Just follow the advice here to get more keys and get them programmed. I am curious why you want more multiple sets of keys, do you tend to lose them ?, do you have multiple drivers? Just curious, not making any judgement whatsoever. Best to you.

The one I visited gave me a battery for free. But yeah, I could see a lot of them ripping you off.

it would just be nice to have a spare set is all. all i have is the one wallet size, and the auxilary key can't exactly go on a keyring since it has no hook for it. so even though i have two modes of entry, i still have to carry them together in the same spot.

I'm just used to having a backup i guess.

but the original inquiry was based off the fact that the dealer gave me that extra set of keys, and they don't work. so i was wondering if I was just dumb/missing something there.

I understand you now, you only have ONE electronic key with the key inside. I thought you had two electronic keys with the standard key inside, which is what I got when i bought my 2008 RX8 new.

Yes you do need to have a spare key and yes the aux key doesn't have any key ring hole to attach to a key ring. I guess just follow the advice here in getting an extra key and getting it programmed to work with your car. Best to you.

I feel dumb for asking this because I knew the answer but can't find it now. What are the screw sizes for the front brake rotors? Mine are completely seized and won't budge.

Hey guys I asked this a few posts back, didn't get any answers so I'm gonna ask again.

I know that "after cooling" (fan stays on after shutdown) happens when the engine coolant temp is over 226F. I know that this will happen in S2s if the engine compartment temp is too high.

My question is, on an S1, is this the ONLY reason a fan would stay on after shutdown?

I don't think it's the ONLY reason, mine stays on for quite a while sometimes, and there is no way it was 226* when parked.

Thanks for your reply Is your car an S1 or an S2? Only the S2 turns the fans on for high engine compartment temps. So they could run even with a cool coolant temp.

I always monitor my coolant temps with Torque. Whenever I stop my car, the temps are always below 212F and the fans NEVER stay on. No matter how fast/hard I drive no matter how hot it is outside, it shuts off with the car. This leads me to believe that it only happens when the coolant is over 226F

So every single time someone comes on here and goes "my fans keep on running after I shut the car off" their coolant temps is over 226F?

reman oil pressure

Been searching for a few days
Calling mazda etc

The situation is this...ordered a mazda reman through the dealer intended to go in a 2004 6port. Comparing new block to old it seems mazda incorporates all revisions in the block. Updated front cover from s2 with ess sensor cover which the s1 does not have. Updated oil pan etc etc

Question is does anyone know if the oil pressure is upped on the remans like they are in the s2 (80~ psi s1 to 100~ psi s2) as part of the revisions included in reman engines.

I bought and was planing to install mazmarts pressure regulator kit but if the pressures already there then its a waste. the dealer techs did not advise me to use only s2 filters to handle the updated pressure so it leaves some doubt as how to proceed.

New engine is stamped a build date of 02/2015

If you leave the key on acc position the fans will run if temps are over 190-200
Without the key in they wait till the temps spike after shutdown when the water pump shuts off because the ecu is still functioning even when the pump is no longer turning

How high does this temp spike get up to? This used to happen to me when the key is out, but ever since I started monitoring my temps, I always shut it down below 215F, so the fans never stay on.

What really makes it stay on for minutes? How high does the temp have to be?

Ill shut off 180 and itll be at 226 within 2 minutes of no water pump so i cant imagine how high it gets after 215. The fans work off the temp sensor in the thermostat housing. With the car off theyre just cooling a radiator thats not circulating. The block cools down gradually then the fans shut off. So basicially if ur car is off those fans are useless. A better method to cool down with car off is pop ur hood and remove your oil cap

How do people with side skirts place jack stands on there cars? The owners manuals says to put jack stand on the rails right under the door frame which the side skirts I would assume cover. So where do you put them?

The temp will not go from 180 to 226F within 2 mins. I once stopped my car at 206 and after 10 mins the temp was 215F.

The question is still unanswered. How high does the coolant temp has to be for the fans to stay on after shutdown.

If I use regular non-synthetic oil in my engine can I premix with full synthetic 2stroke?
