Nothing to report this week- insert sad face ;-(

Busy with the gfs fd damn it! Gonna put rx8 leather seats in for her, and investigating the possibility of installing a rx8 6sp paddle shift tranny into her fd also.... But I'd say the rx8 relies heavily on the factory PCM/ecu so this may be an impossibility.

Oh well.

Woohooo!! Buddy came over to help with the manifold, finally!! When I say help I mean, basically do it all lol. I had the basic position and elbow attached to merge flange but that's it for me. I was procrastinating wayyyy too much on this task. Time for an expert to take over.
He welded on a kind of guide to indicate where the steering rod is, as he took the manifold frame and pipes home to finish the job.

I sorted oil filter location and some minor tidy up stuff.

I feel like it's getting close now. I'll try get back into the wiring this week, another job I've been procrastinating over.

Needed to extend the tie rod ends a bit cos of the rack relocation farther forward. Scratches head for a bit, damn!! I got a spare pair of tie rod ends on the spare red car (which I'm parting out), so I cut em up and made these little extenders!! Perfect. I'll take pics tomorrow of finished product after I finish making adjustments and different placement, but here's some shots of the work so far.

Made some tiny adjustments to the extenders as they were a little long, but ultimately the wheel alignment guys will have to do the final sort.

Buddy at acacia customs has started the manifold , woohoo!! The turbo will FINALLY have a home.

Just little steps at the mo. Only seem to get a few hrs a week to work on her currently. Pretty frustrated and getting impatient.
Anyway, space is at a premium these days, so I found a little space to mount the davies craig booster pump for the W2A intercooler.

The EWP for coolant will attach directly to the bottom an20 fitting but will also need a bracket for support, something I haven't done as yet.

I can say I am pretty close to fitting up all the hoses now.

I am also waiting on a 3rd loom to finalize the wiring. As the ecu, relays/fuses and battery will ALL be relocated to inside the vehicle, I need extra cabling, so I figured the easiest way to keep the colour schemes to match was to buy another loom.

Also picked up a second hand replica ms rear diffuser as the s2 bumper wasn't doin it for me.

How low does that EWP sit in relation to the under tray? Looks low.

U got me, man ur sharp!!

It is a tad low, the undertray will almost touch. I am probably gonna just turn the pump about 45degrees.

Yeah I would just use a straight AN instead of a 90.

Yeh I got one there I think. In actually worried the braided water lines are gonna be too short! As on there won't be much flex cos literally the hose length is gonna be on top one is 2" and bottom approx 8"

Not much progress

Seem to be re-doing **** a lot lately. Have to drop the barrel cooler about 3/4" to make way for a filler, which meant cutting the fan shroud to lower the 2stroke tank. Never ending

Remade the A/C compressor bracket with thicker steel as I wasn't too happy with the strength before.

Next I'll be modifying the sway bar extension bracket as the bar is nearly touching the rack.

Lpg tank is gonna cost 1800 landed, then add valves, so need some coin for this.

Had to lock up that extra knuckle as there was too much play. Was knockin on the sub frame when gettin vicious with the wheel.

Also remade that AC bracket. Thicker stronger.

And gave her a break from the stands

Let the fun begin!

So after some more deliberation I realized that I actually do have the room to keep the fuse/relay box in its original position, and that I need only relocate the battery and ecu.
The fuse box I cut a chunk out underneath to clear top rad hose. Pics of that tomoz
Ecu once u take it out of the enclosure frees up a lot of space, so will build a protective case and find a new home.

So I have now eliminated many many hrs of rewiring etc

I have a harness with missing plug, it's the main engine loom. I NEED to know which wires are for ESPS or CAS whatever u wanna call it

ESPS eccentric shaft position sensor, crank angle sensor

I can't find the correct diagram anywhere.

The crank sensor wire is easy to tell....It is a shielded wire and it is 2 connector....the only other ones on the harness are the O2 sensors....they are 4 wire

Not sure if that helps you or not?

is there a good write up on anyone's build or a guide of what factory rx8 wiring/loom and sensors to keep operational connected to rx8 ecu and what stuff to connect to aftermarket ecu??

Measured up my sump requirements for an aluminium fab company to make fore me. Approx $500 which I think is quite reasonable.

Pics of crash bar trimmed and reinforced with some steel box which take up way less air flow restrictive real estate..

Aside from that, just tinkering with wiring layout, battery location and ECU..

Be careful putting the ECU under the front bumper. You will probably need some sort of splash/drip shield because the hood seam directs all the water right down there when it rains.

Yup. Gotta make a waterproof case. Just worried about ventilation for it tho.

Almost every panel on this car is structural too. Cutting out the crash bar is one thing (I'd recommend boxing it back in around the cutout area FWIW, the brace the way you added is not as effective as it could have been either), but looking at how you cut out the other front panel is cause for concern given the intended weight and power addition of your build.

This is another thread that makes me grab the Advil bottle every time I open it ...

Always a pleasure when u drop by. ;-)

I'm going to box the cutouts in by connecting them to the new support bar, which btw is far stronger than the piece I removed. Yeh but I agree, I had my reservations too.
I am yet to re strengthen the hood support where I cut that panel as it has weakened that support.
