My 20b project
I’m not sure if anyone would reply to this. It’s a pretty old thread but I I am 23 and I have my RX eight and I would like to purchase a three rotor and conversion kit to put it in my RX eight. My question for y’all would be can my transmission handle the stock naturally aspirated three rotor? It would be A while before I did any modeling to it whatsoever. My goal is to get the engine and to be able to put it in the car and run it with whatever it’s got left if it runs at all or just rebuild it. I’m not too concerned about being the fastest RX eight on the road. I just would like it to have a little more get up and go a better sound. I currently have A wonderful GReddy exhaust and no cats so I’m not really concerned of whether my car is going to pass emissions. I just have a 2004 6 speed really beautiful black with orange and black interior leather, navigation, Brand new coil overs, a front ;rear strut bar ,and just climbed over 120,000 miles she still drives like a dream. I feel giving her the three rotor I’ll definitely power her how she should have been straight out of the factory. And then after everything is installed and working properly I can focus on upgrading other parts of the car before I mod the engine. I am open to advice and constructive criticism I’ve learned a lot about rotary engines in the past year and I’m looking to expand my knowledge and really make this car everything that I want It to be🙂

I plan on buying the parts and installing them myself. I eventually want to build it up like the other guy in this forum. But right now I just want to do the swap while I’m young and single. BeSides everyone says just to go with the turbo “respectively “ But, I want another rotor 😁. I have 10 K right now. Around this time next year I will have just over 20 that’s excluding over time and income tax refund. I’ve been talking with the guy that’s about to get a shipment of a few engines he’ll be so alarm for about five a pop because he’s getting such a good deal on them so I’ll just use whatever life that engine has left once I purchase it.

hey man. Been awhile since I’ve posted and saw ur message.
The 6sp in my opinion will cope fine with everyday use of a stock 20b Non Turbo if not totally flogged with clutch dumps. Lol
it u can find the eu or uk 5sp box it will cope with more as it has fd rx7 internals. This is the box I’m using with20b turbo. I haven’t driven mine hard yet as it’s still in run in and I’m OS now. Car in storage. Sad face grr
tho, I prefer the ratios on the 6sp. 5sp seems to rev a bit high at highway cruise
i have a friend in au who did what u wanna do, put 20b in NA to start, but quickly decided to add the turbo.
I had plenty of people try to talk me out of the 20b swap, even local shops, but I went ahead anyway.
Man, at the end of the day, a good 20b is gonna make more power/torque than a 13b without even breaking a sweat. Which is exactly why it’s the BEST conversion. Defo not the easiest lol.
BE CAREFUL where u buy ur “cheap” bargain 20b. I know of a few guys who got scammed with sellers on Alibaba. Sellers promising landed 20b xxx$, don’t risk it unless u have real customer feedback. One guy paid 6k and got nothing.
Best to find a C or D block low km engine. If it has black paint around the 20b stamp then u have a factory warranty replaced engine, VERY GOOD.

I have an extra 5 speed...

Hi everybody, I'm new here but I own a rx8 since 2 years.
I known this in an old thread but it was really interesting and I want to do a similar thing, so why not try asking for some more infos from who has done this before? I want to swap my renesis with a 20b, but I will do it step by step. I mean starting na so I have a car that runs, doing the running in and sometime have fun with it in the weekend, than upgrading all the other stuffs later. I don't have your skills but I'm gonna start this project with 2 friends of mine who are a mechanic and a blacksmith, so we can craft some parts.
I don't have a 20b yet, I live in Italy and don't know a well known seller because here swaps are no so popular (I think there's only 1 20b rx8 in Italy and it's still in pieces...). So if anyone can help me with some seller that ships to Italy I will be thankful. Keep in mind that I will rebuild it in any case so even if it is at the end of is life is good, but it mustn't be destroied beacause in this case I have to buy new stuff, like plates and irons and that isn't much fun... Now the fun paet, for having it in and runnig what I need to modify. I've seen you having trouble with sway bar and steering, but didn't understand well what you have done, is it to fit only the engine or to fit the turbo? With the ecu, what do I need to do in order to run the 20b? I mean if I have all the sensors, adapt the rx8 throttle body and find a suitable exhaust what I need to do next? Another thing I've seen you having trouble was the ater pump. How did you solve that?

That borgwarner... beautiful. Reading with more attention I finally found how sinfidelity relocated the steering rack and sway bar and have also found a bumpsteer kit to not mess too much with the steering. The major problem now is finding the engine... for the ecu I think it will be better going standalone having in mind that I will turbo it sooner or later. In any case I will keep you up to date and if anyone has a 20b pm me

For the ecu I think I will go with a standalone beacause sooner or later I'll turbo it. The major problem now is finding the engine. So anyone who is selling a 20b series c or higher is welcome.

but then finances has always been the 20B conundrum …

stop wasting your time there (Alibaba, etc.), you will need to look in Japan or Australia/New Zealand with the known good sources:

I've find only 2 sellers until now. 1 sells half cosmo (I mean the entire front clip of the car). The other is an alibaba seller that claims to have 7 20bs, all series c, and is selling them for 5k each with everithing from intake to exhaust and tranny. When I asked him some more infos, photos and a compression test he sent me a video from a compression test done in 2016... scam. So I don't know where to find a 20b... Houston we have a problem
YES!! Definitely a scam. I know of someone who got scammed.
Alibaba listing. I live in Thailand now and that seller clams to be here. I asked for their address link and said I’d come over to by the motor. Link provided didn’t lead to anything. Google maps couldn’t find it. Fknscammers

Making some assumptions, but would expect that to be ~600 whp on a 20B at that boost level.
