Settings are important, but it has to be really clean. Like use a flap sander on it and weld within 10 min. Also gas( pure argon) and wire type.

No paint within 6" of an aluminum weld. Preheating helps a lot too.

You could put the BOV on the straight section by the turbo :-)

Thanks for the tips.

Yeh I noticed once the metal heats it becomes so much easier. And yeh impurities are a big nono

I'll explore that option. Just bought a recirculate bov online as atmo bovs are illegal here, like the one I was gonna use. Lol.

Moved the abs back about 2cm n to the side 1.5cm. Put nylon bushes on where the rubber bushes were as they are smaller and allowed me some precious mm's clearance for the cooler. Had to hack up the bracket quiet a bit too, but it's very strong so all good.

The oil filler just needed some bending to clear.

Cut the front panel out as it blocks more of the radiator than I care for. I'll weld in a bar next for added strength. Still gotta create a cold air intake somehow, but I think I got a radical idea for that.

Will probably lose the hood catch and the rest of that support too, and will use counter sunk lockable hood pins.

So went crazy with the grinder again. Ditched the hood latch n cleaned up the lines. Will use lockable hood pins. Fitted the AC cooler about 3" from radiator. Still have to secure the bottom of both. Getting rid of all that pesky frame work made life easier. Next, oil cooler and heat exchanger, then some air dams n ducting. Then to create a funky cold air intake. Trial fitted the bumper with rad n ac in n heaps of room for the remaining coolers.

I'd really lik to see what you do about your AC lines. I'm in the process of solving a vertical condenser AC situation.

Yeh ok, I'm pretty clueless really.
Are u saying that the condenser doesn't work in a vertical position?

One hood pin down, one to go. What a mission tho with that hood skin at the front. I was trying to cut as little as possible for access to get the tiny nuts on, but had to keep cutting more n more to squeeze a finger, a socket or pointy nose pliers in there.

K, thanks.

Slow progress at mo as the fd needs some attention. Told the gf not to buy one cos I knew id end up working on it instead of my build. Grrr

Waiting for lpg tank to arrive and the ecu and gotta build the turbo manifold, mount oil coolers, wire up everything and then I'm close.

Actually decided to move the turbo back about 4-5inches to make room for an airbox (of sorts) to keep the emissions happy.

So sick of taking this motor out. Sold the 6sp, so had to pull the 20b again grrr

Something good did kum of it tho, aside from fitting the 5sp in its place. I added n extra mounting hole for the gearbox to mate to engine, especially important as u broke one previously and only had 3 holes to work with!!

Worked out well too because it doubles as a block off plate for that gaping hole.

So! The hood pin latches I bought were cheap **** copies, something which was mentioned in the eBay ad but I failed to notice. One snapped when I tried to open it. Error!!
Anyway the seller was pretty cool as he also sells the originals- aerocatch brand, so he offered me a credit against the better versions and I refitted those to my still fresh hood cutouts.

Massive difference between the replicas and originals re quality. $100 price variation mind u.

Also installed the hood struts which were an awesome fit. Really happy.

And just got word the ECU will be shipped Monday, wooohooo. Now I just need that damn alloy lpg tank
