Yep - great time guys. Glad to meet/re-meet you guys.

MadDog - Top of Paseo hit 60, dropped into neutral and coasted. Was down to 52 when I hit a red at Holbrook.

^ now that's interesting. Holbrook is west of Eubank, right? I guess you're still on stock tires? I wonder if my 245/40's are really producing that kind of losses... Seems to me that I'd be a lot slower than that at that point (if Holbrook is where I think it is).

You done this yet, Kewl?

I hadn't tried it lately, but perhaps sometime over the next couple of days I can try it....I'll let everyone know results.

Question for everyone. If I can arrange a private track day, is doing so on a weekday (might be easier to make it a private day) too much of a hardship for those who might be interested?

Kewl, a private track day sounds awesome!

Weekends are always easier for us 8-5, Mon-Fri guys but, with enough advanced notice, a weekday could be arranged. I was looking at the SWMS link that Stinger posted a couple of days ago and thought that would be cool but a private track day would be totally kewl!

How many people would need to attend to make it work?

I'm still working on getting all the information on what's possible. I know a private weekday is possible cause I have already done that with one other individual...and that was with an instructor! I liked the idea of there not being anyone else (not in our group) on the track at the same time. Just seems to be a lot more controlled and safer in the end.

As soon as I know something more I will let you know. The other factor about going during the week was availability...the track seems to be fairly busy on the weekend, but maybe not every weekend...keep your fingers crossed.

I'd be very interested and with enough notice available as well.

Also in who can come. I have some responsible friends that would enjoy something like that - plus doesn't more mean cheaper?

FYI. I just checked the ARTA (AutoX) website and our times from the last race are now posted. Some of you might have already known but I hadn't checked in a while and was surprised to see them posted.

Check it out if you haven't already!

Thanks en fuego for the tip!!! I can not believe it! I ended up with 6th fastest time of the evening out of 42 cars!! That sure was an improvment over the begining times I had! I even posted better time than 4 out of the 5 Miata's that were there!! But I should give credit where credit is due THANKS RX-8 & Justin for the ride along!!

Trade you my Manual Sway bars for your Auto Sway bars.

Hey guys! if you aren't acquainted with me then let me start off by stating that i own a 2006 Mazda Miata. Some of our parts are interchangable. One of them are the Sway bars.

I bought these Manual swaybars not knowing that the Auto ones work better for my car. The way i see it that the difference between the Auto's and Manuals are how thick and stiff they are. Aparently for the MX-5 the Manuals cause us to understeer juuust alittle. but the Auto's are perfect! And i'm guessing the manuals would be a nice free upgrade for you autos out there.

So i was wondering would anyone be willing to trade? My Manual sway bars for your Auto ones? I live in Las Cruces, NM. Don't really wanna get into shipping and handeling, so if you are just a drive away then thats perfect.

Side Note - I just moved here to NM from VA so making friends would be pretty cool. Even if you have a manual it'd still be cool to meet up and hang out. I wonder if there is a Mazda Club around here.

I do trackdays with my motorcycle down at Sandia, so I'm really excited to get my car out there for the first time. I'd be down for a private day depending on the price. I can probably find a few buddies that would be interested as well.

Does anyone know how it compares to the motorcycle trackdays? I'll have to take the class as I've never been out there with my car. Usually the motorcycle schedule starts out with the people that haven't been out there getting about 20 minutes on the track, then 20 minutes for the intermediate group and then 20 for the racers. This then continues all day until about 3-4 PM.

So, these aren't exactly rotaries... but I thought this was pretty cool...

I don't know how many we'll see around here since they're pretty pricy... maybe some being test driven or something ;-) It'll bring some jobs to town though, which is always a good thing!

1. Just order a front "auto" bar from Jason @ Montgomery Mazda. less than $100.00 2. Put some urethane bushings in the rear sway bar. 3. Or in both and get a bigger/stiffer rear bar. If you need urethane bushings I have a set for sale that fit you stock "D" clips.

Also does anyone local (Abq.) what a set of 18x8 OEM wheels? I posting a set in the classifieds. 1 has a rock chip & 1 has a small curb rash about a 1" long just into the primer. These are the only spots I can find. Need to be sold before I move back to AZ on 3-3-07. Or they go with me.
Email me at hayrandyl@comcast.net

Thanks

Hi All,

Tis the season for warmer weather. Finally. I haven't driven my poor 8 to much as of late. Well, you know my car; it likes to have the little things go wrong. So it's in the shop since yesterday getting the airbag in the seats rewired. During this process they had to gut most of the interior. However, they found a baseball size dent with a one inch hole pushed through my floor board near the passenger back seat and outer frame of my car. The only thing I can think it came from was from about 8 months or so ago when we were having those floods, I had caught an edge of a rock being washed down in the 6 plus inches of water. Well getting it fixed. But the car has all the seats, center, and carpet out. I walked in to joke with University about vacuuming my carpet under the seat, but all the gutted parts were piled behind my car.

On a more positive note, I bought new slotted rotors from RX7 store and new Hawk brakes for my car. Get those next week. I also have my midpipe on order, good bye CAT… hello few more HP. Also, should have little louder exhaust note and better gas mileage. Scanguage will let me know on that one.

Congrats on your purchase. What year/color. Any plans to mod? You will have to come down to ABQ sometime for a meet and drive day. We are slowly, building our local car club. So always great to have someone new. Enjoy

Justin

Glad to see you make to the FORUM slayerchaos!!! As Ocho stated you are more than welcome anytime we have a get together! I do not usualy go up to Farmington, but if I do I will look you up! Kewl (another member) was looking into seeing about us 8 drivers renting Sandia Motorsports Park for a day so we could take the 8's out on an official track and get some learning & have some fun!! It sure would be great if you could make down here for that! Hope to hear more from you in the future!

Im from New mexico, Rio Rancho to be exact. although Im in walla walla wasington, for college right now. I should be home in the summer though. Im driving the 8 down for spring break in about two weeks. It will be her first long trip.

Has anyone else gone on a rather long trip in an RX-8? how does it do on the road?

I recently completed a 4,000 trip to Florida from ABQ and the 8 did great. Good ride, good performance and rather descent gas mileage. I would not hesitate taking the trip again. Now...that's with just me in the car. Two people might have made the trip less enjoyable just because space becomes an issue if either of you are carrying much on the trip.

Have a good trip...and unless you have M&S or snow tires avoid snowy areas.

On the same note, give the 8 some credit. I went down to Ruidoso to my sisters ranch to hunt last year. Anyway, I was able to fit me, my cousin, and my wife - not to mention all our gear and guns.

Now, we did have the advantage of staying in a house and walking out the door to hunt (they have a ranch, right?)

Minus beer, add meat and we made it back home.

Back in NOV. me and the family (wife, 14yr old daughter & 11 yr old daughter) went out to Quartzite AZ to see my mom. The route we took was aproximately 850 miles one way. We packed clothes for 6 days and a few other odds and ends and the kids had thing to keep them busy as well as the wife. The 8 handled the trip fantastic and the ride was great!

Okay, so it would seem I don't pack worth a damn. Or I take too much crap with me...but then again I have all these toys (ah, tools) that have to go on trips with me ...GPS, Laptops, Cameras, Inverter...to charge all those batteries....and on and on and on. Those things take space!
