Hi All,
Long time no talk, sounds like most of us are busy thanks to holidays. Well bad news is that I ran over 4 pigeons yesterday coming to work. It was total carnage, feathers and blood everywhere. The crappy thing is one of them destroyed my driver side fog light. So let me warn you very, very expensive. One from the dealer is 250.00 for one, found one used one for 125.00 and a new set of 2 clear is 250.00. So I think I will be buying the blue set as they are about 200.00. I should have turned around and ran over the rest of them. So avoid those flying rats.

Glad to see new members. Busy time of year to get a drive organized.

Will, still waiting for those race times to be posted…

Mad Dog, I tried to PM you but your box is full. I had a question for you regarding the turbo install.

As you know, I had my engine tested and lastest flash installed. No new engine needed, though with the new flash, I am getting ~2-3 mpg less which puts me at 15-16mpg mixed driving (65% highway). I used to get a steady 18mpg.

Either way, How was everyones ThanksGivving?

Hope all had a happy turkey day.

Well update on my car. So I got my new Fog Lights, I went with the Amber and they look great. However this morning after driving for 40 minutes coming to work, my check engine light came on and will not turn off. No weird noises from the engine just the light. So I call University and they tell me not to bring it in and that I must make an appointment. So they are ok with me driving around with my check engine light. Hmmmmm Then my car still starts more poorly since the recall, which I mentioned to the dealer. So I really think the recall didn't help my car. Won't know what is going on until first week of December or until what ever is wrong blows up. Happy Driving.

Happy Holidays.

A couple of use have scan tools you can use to check the CEL code. Autozone will also check it for free.

Friday and saterday work for me. Sounds fun.

I may not have a car though. Since i have had the car, when I press on my breaks for the first time per day (or after a long period of no driving), the brake cylinder makes noise and the brake pedel shakes a bit. Mazda said this is normal. Now, however, my brakes do not release right away when I left go, which makes for jerky rides for 20 minutes.

But... I will have at least a rental car (which are indestructable), so im perfectly willing to meet everyone this weekend.

Talking

So, this isn't really a 'kill' or anything but I think I did gain the 8 a bit of respect the other night...

So, my wife and I were going out to dinner the other night and after pulling onto Ladera I noticed that the guy behind me who was completely riding my **** started to gun it to go around me.

Well, I was in 2nd gear around 6k rpm so I punched it too... he stopped gaining ground on me when he was about even with my rear wheel. At that point I noticed it was a black 350Z which lives somewhere in the subdivision where I live.

After that, the guy didn't try to go around me any more even though he ended up following me all the way onto I-40, through the big-I onto I-25 until I exited at Montgomery... Even though rx-8's aren't known for being straight-line cars... I think a lot of people underestimate just how quick they really are when in the right gear

Not exactly a "kill" in my book... but hopefully there's a Z driver out there now with a little more respect for our 8's

Good to know theres a few NM based RX-8 owners, and some that seem to be pretty serious about modding their cars. i just recently got rid of my Subaru Forester XT, and am enjoying the new RX-8 on some of the back roads in Southeastern NM. Dark canyon drive on the back side of Carlsbad is kinda rough asphalt, but man the RX8 just rails those corners!!

There used to be another RX8 hear in Artesia, but I haven't seen it for a long while. I did see a nice yellow RX8 several weeks back in Roswell so I know I am not alone. I spend two weeks in NM and then two weeks back in St.Louis. Gotta get the snows installed on my next trip back to avoid getting stranded somewhere on that 1000 mile road trip due to icy or snowy road conditions!

Hey all, I just recently cracked my front bumper, and am looking for either a used replacement, or a nice looking body kit... Let me know what kits you think look good. I am not a big fan of body kits, so I'm really looking for a subtle kit and that seems to be hard to find. The MazdaSpeed front bumber seems alright, but if there are any others that aren't too wild, or if you know of someone who has a stock titanium gray bumper for sale, let me know. Thanks.

I vote for the MazdaSpeed. If I had the extra dough, that's what I would get. Its agressive but still looks like it could be stock.

I like the 1st racing beat nose, I might go that way. Anyone know how much it costs to paint that?

The mazdaspeed is also very nice, and it was the first one I was looking at. Does the mazdaspeed kit come with a new grille? That opening seems way too large for the stock grille. and I can't find it anywhere for less than 1200, ouch... since I just bought my car I don't want to spend that much... of course I should have thought of that before I hit someone, right...

Winter Storm stock tires don't work soo well (as expected). Anyway, any suggestions for a good cheap tire to use a a month or two out of the year?
