you can't miss mine, I think i have the only 8 around that is missing the middle part of the middle grille. The bottom third is there, and the top third is there, but the middle is gone. You can see all the ugly white foam... Hopefully I'll fix that soon, I have the new grille, but I haven't had time to put it in yet. I'm afraid to pull the whole bumper off because I usually suck at putting things back together. I'm gonna see if I can slide it in from the bottom.

BigAAA- The front bumper is easy to pull off, but you have to becareful with the plastic clips, especially the ones on top. In addition, you will have to remove the side marker lights and becareful not to break the bulbs. http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm then go to the Radiator/oil Screens link, then they will have a PDF file of how to remove the nose of the car. Simple as that. If you have fog lights they are more of a pain unhooking, as not much room for your hand to disconnect the wire. Two people make it little easier.

Hi all hope everyone is well. We need some nice weather so we can have a group breakfast or dinner.. It has been way to long since we have all met. I just got a new starter and battery. See how the next cold start goes.

Just saying hi and chat more soon.

So, after going to that link to see how to pull the bumper off (thanks), I figured I'd give it a try today. I got out the and took the first 6 plastic clip things out and realized a much easier way to fix my problem. Since I was already missing the middle part of the grille, I could just stick my hands in the big hole in my grille and pop the rest out. Once the two pieces were out, I just put the new grille in sideways, turned it facing the right way and snapped it back in. Thus, finding a much easier and quicker way to change the grille out. Although I guess it is only easier and faster if you have a big hole in grille you are taking out...
Anyways, not that anyone really cares other than me, but my 8 is back to normal now(YAY!). As long as you are standing about 5 feet away and dont notice the crack in the bumper...

While I was messing around down there I realized that the rock guard under belly part was warped. Does anyone know why they made this out of plastic? The only other vehicles I have owned have been a truck and a jeep, but this was metal on both of them and they were both 12" off the ground. I guess the 8 isn't supposed to see any rocky roads, but does anyone know where I can find a metal version? I'm afraid I'll run over some junk on the freeway and tear that whole thing off.

Thanks again for the helpful link ocho and sorry about the long post. I have a lot on my mind.

That you're seeing around base isn't me. I haven't bee driving mine lately. I'm still trying to recover from the emissions saga. Finally got all the injectors back in and got the turbo working again last night. Cranked her up for the first time in weeks last night only to find that I must have missed one of the connectors on the fuel rail. Gas was POURING out all over the garage floor. What a PITA.... Hope to be back terrorizing the streets later this week.

Boy we've been quiet lately!! I've probably been the worst. Since my 8 has been laid-up for a while, I haven't posted much lately. But, the roads aren't icey anymore, I fixed my fuel leaks, the turbo is back in operation, and the turbo upgrade is back on track - ITS TIME TO HAVE A GET-TOGETHER!!

Anyone up for something Friday night? Maybe pizza or something?

Tim

I would love to Tim but I will have the kido's and I am not so sure about that one. I would leave them with the wife but she has to work so that is out of the question. How have you been? From the sounds of it the 8 is comming together again rather nicely! I will have to pass though for tomorrow.

Pizza....I could go for that...we just need to figure out where...

I haven't had the 8 out much the last couple of months myself. I think it is time to do that. ModDog did you have someplace in mind? Dion's perhaps in a central location. Isn't there one on Paseo Del Norte on the East side? What's everyone think?

Yeah, there's that one. Its just east of Wyoming on Paseo. I'd still meet up even if its just you and me, Kewl. Been a while since we caught up. If you want a brew there's also Il Vicino on Montgomery and Juan Tabo.

Hey all,

It was great to see everyone Friday night. We enjoyed finally meeting the infamous "Maddog" and getting a chance to talk to all of you. Stinger, sorry you couldn't make it but we'll see you next time.

I know the holidays and the weather have kept us all from meeting over the past couple of months but we need to do this more often. We should all get together for a nice drive one of these weekends. I have been doing nothing but driving back and forth from work (and only in the 8 when the weather is cooperating) and would love a more exciting driving experience..........as long as no cops are involved.

Hasta,
Craig (and Ona)

Hey everyone,

Sorry I didnt get to meet and eat with you all. It took a lot longer to get to Albuquerque than I thought it was going to. And when I finally got all my friends together and what not we got to the restuarant at like 8 and change...I think I might have been sitting next to you all because i would hear the 8 come up in topic every now and then but I didnt know who was saying it. I was the guy with the mo hawk hair do. Maybe next time everyone meets I can get someones number so I can figure out who you all are. At least I got to look at everyones 8's in the parking lot...I dig the black rims

O and the beer and pizza was pretty darn good, my first time to the restuarant

Yeah, it was really nice to meet you Chakara and EnFuego! I'll have to see if I can drag my girl out next time. It feels good to finally be behind the wheel of the 8 again after such a long lay-up. Can't wait to get that 'project' back on track. I'm going to talk to a fabriactor later this week. I'll keep you guys posted, but I'm not posting elsewhere until its done with dyno numbers.

Ace, if I had driven all the way from Grants, I would have been approaching every table in the joint to see who the other 8 owners were! haha Oh well, there's always next time.

Yes it's a shame you didn't cruise the tables to find us. But next time....
By the way I drive the Black 8 with the Black rims.. So thanks for the compliment.

I will be in CO this weekend, picking up my 1968 Chevy Truck.

Maddog can't wait to see the twins going.

Glad to hear that everyone who was to attend had a great time! As things turned out, I ended up catching a bug Thursday night and by Friday afternoon felt like I had taken a cross sountry trip on the underside of the 8!!!

On a side note. I ran across this little bit of information @ RacingSouthwest's web site

SWMS Driver School/Race, April 14 & 15, 2007, Sandia

Here is the link to the thread

http://racingsouthwest.com/forums/showtopic37606.htm

As of right now I am very interested in doing it. I have not made up my mind 100%. It sure would be nice to see a few other familar face there though. Anyone else interested?
