On a rotary it sounds like marbles rattling around inside a tin can. So if you are used to hearing it on reciprocating engine, you will totally miss it on a rotary.

Hehe, there's so many sounds in this car it's easy to get confused. I should just stop driving with the music off, but want to listen to the sweet rotary. Anyway just heard some sounds today, had to make sure it couldn't be detonation. I think it may have been loud exhaust sounds at 9000rpm so no wonder it was loud :S

ok, so I have a question.. So.. I extended my intake down into the bumper for colder air, and put on the greddy backing plate. now when my car goes into boost, it backfires and runs really rich. Does this mean there is a boost leak? or that I need to start my calibrations over again? when the car is in vacuum it runs perfectly fine.

The blocking plate will totally screw up the calibration.
The intake may as well, depending on what it does to the flow past the MAF.
What do you fuel trims look like now?

damnnit, i suspected that. dan and i ripped my entire turbo kit out to try and find the problem and found that the blocking plate was there. cat was plugged too so I guess the combo is enough to warrant a re-calibration?

Or do you think you can fix the current one with logs? it's the 4.04 from seattle dyno day.

learned lesson... will install by myself with pro help hopefully
thanks

We can fix it with a restart on base calibration and logs.
Or, I guess we could take a stab at it starting with the 4.0.4 version.
Its mostly the 6200 RPM and up stuff that gets screwed by the plate.

how bad would the severely clogged cat have screwed it up <calibration>?

<different motor too so maybe it's best to start fresh, lol>

The renesis WILL get loud, at the engine and the exhaust, at 9k. Most of the time I don't even have the radio on as I love listening to the car. That's my music!

I've been to talking to people in the car and redlined it down a quick side street and the person on the other end of the call is asking what the hell that loud noise is. Got busted by the GF as she hated it when I zipped down side streets.

I don't understand how people get tired of this car. But then again I don't daily drive it, so when I drive it it's a long tease to wait until it's warmed up before flooring it a bit later. I still feel all confused whenever the rpm is nearing 9000rpm. It's like my own personal chaos everytime. And the Mazdaspeed exhaust is a great mod.

There's a definite difference with the latest map. Gotta log and verify all is good.

INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FIRST POST ARE UPDATED.

Please read them, people.

I continue to get incomplete logs, logs that are missing data, logs that are run incorrectly, non-attachment of required files, etc.

Cobb must have moved this from BETA to latest, because that is what my AP updated to, and I did not have the BETA option checked.

Yeah, that happens.
Once a BETA firmware is verified, it becomes the release candidate.

Nope.

I think we are past that problem.
Now that the firmware update system is standardized and the ROM interpolation is a uniform process, future firmware updates shouldn't break my calibrations.

Hey MM, I sent you a pm but you didnt answer. I sent you my last logs and when I was doing the WOT log in 2nd gear once I reached around 6k rpms I went too lean, meaning >12.5, so I didnt continue with the log. Is that ok or do you need me to redo that log with anything else?

Thanks!
