So, all you autotragic people: clicky!

That depends on your definition of "significant".

Much of what a reflash offers is concerned only with drivability and engine preservation.
If you have already taken steps to improve engine performance (better ignition and open exhaust), the AccessPORT will help you take advantage of those mods.

If you are expecting neck-snapping, GT racing acceleration, you are barking up the wrong tree.

Gains from fuel and ignition tuning will amount to anywhere from 3 to 30 HP, depending on things.

neck snapping and 4 port auto dont mix often it sounds like it would still be a worth while investment. the reason i ask is because i recall somewhere about the int-x giving some pretty good gains especially on the a/t as well as better throttle response. i would be nice to increase drivability and engine preservation.

The gains will be, at least, similar to the Int-X as far as power is concerned since it has full control over fuel delivery and ignition timing.
However, the similarity ends there since the AccessPORT allows you to control every aspect of engine operation - far beyond the level afforded by any aftermarket engine management.

ah. and by bucking you mean the sudden stopping of the eccentric shaft which could damage the drive line?

also, if you can, save one of those three AP's for me. i will most likely be able to buy it next tuesday. then i can load your maps, and start tuning on my own little by little, if you dont mind.

Not damage, just discomfort.

I can't "save" one, but if I still have it its yours.

Update :

My LTFT went up to +16 today driving it back and fourth to work. I came home and put my stock intake back on and flashed to the 1.3a file and now it's sitting at +11 after about 15-20 minutes idling and a short drive. I'll give it till after driving it tomorrow to see where it is before I go to the next file up or straight to 1.5a.

I'm curious to see if my fuel pump will swing the LTFT back the other way. I'll be getting it next week, but it won't be till the weekend of the 7th before I'll be able to install it because I'll be in Vegas next weekend. I'm debating on having it done just so I can see if it helps. Oh well, money or time.

Other than the LTFT being way +, the car drives great. On another note my MOP setting went from 3 on the stock style Cobb flash to 8 on MM flash. I'm sure my seals are loving that. I'll keep ya'll updated.

Cel

what kind of pump? in line?

btw, another question, does our fuel system have the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel return line, or is it a "deadhead" type fuel system?

I've hit 100k on the stock fuel pump. By the book, it's time to change it. I'm just putting an OEM pump back in. I got a pump assembley from Onlinemazdaparts.com.

Its dead-head.
Scott's upgrade is regulated.

+16 is a bunch, but not huge.
+20% is huge.
+/-6% or so is completely negligible.

So, 1_3a is probably going to do it.

Well I found what I think was my problem. My VFAD nipple was leaking air. I thought I heard something and traced it to the open nipple. I sealed it up since I left my RB ram air on the car when I put the stock box back in. My LTFT dropped to +1 almost immediately, but my STFT was going between +1 and -5. I'm going to let them level out and go from here.

That explains why at idle I was way + on the trims and as soon as I hit the throttle it dropped like a rock. More air comming in means that little leak is less of the total. At least that make sense in my feeble little brain.

I finally received my MazdaManiac CAI ...

3.5" of creamy goodness.

The pipe that contains the MAF even has a screen on it.

It has a 90 degree bend out where the VFAD used to be, then another 90 degree bend down behind the intercooler where it has a K&N filter (Can't see the filter from this photo though)

Wrapped up:

I will try it out tomorrow and report back.

Mine dropped off several months ago - really screws with the gas mileage, idle etc... until I found it also.

sure - why not. But right now my goal is to get my car running nicely. When that's done, I'll worry about how it looks.

So the whole intake is 3.5"? Very nice.

I should have asked Mazsport to make mine the same way.

Oh well, I hope it works just as good with the AP.
